  • I wonder who that is doing the 'Scream For Cream' voice.

  • Yes!! That Dry Electric ad was the one I was going on about in ads011. I loved that, been wanted to see it again for ages. It seemed really clever at the time

  • lol yea that outfit really dont do her justice really

  • yea that outfit Sarah has on is awful but she is still sexy.

  • Yeah, you notice that I was ONLY criticizing the outfit!

  • Hey, this is a first for my ADARCHIVE channel. ADS063 is the "68th Most Discussed (Today) in Entertainment" on the whole of YouTube!! Must be taken over the last 24 hours I'd guess. An formal accolade at last :)

  • Also that song in the Confident Cooking ad is Kissing With Confidence by Will Powers isn't it? Birds Eye Potato Waffles are waffly versatile! Remember that as I think that ad campaign ran for a few years into the 1990s.

  • Yeah, the song in the Confident Cooking ad is a poor version of "Kissing with Confidence".

That Potato Waffles ad dates from around 1983 I think...

  • Oi, scream for cream! Nice one, remember that ad! Fantastic again Paul. I agree Sarah Greene's clothes are a bit lairy. Don't remember that ad though

  • Thanks so much for the hotpoint washer dryer add , been looking for it for years :) thank so much

  • WHAT is Sarah Greene wearing???? I suppose the eighties weren't ALWAYS better than the present....

  • Okay, I need to consult the Advert Guru - I have an extremely vague recollection of this bizarre ad from...it mus've been the very early 90's. There was an old man sat in an arm chair talking to an off screen interviewer. He then withdrew an unravelled condom from a matchbox and prounced 'This is Victor, my friend!'

  • The only other dialogue I remember is him saying 'Oh, it's like having a bath with your socks on!' whilst laughing. That's all I remember as my dad changed the channel in case I asked any difficult questions! Now, either I dreamt this or I have my facts seriously screwed up!

  • You're not dreaming this: I think the old man was called Alf and his pet sheath was Geronimo. The tagline/punchline of the ad was: "If Alf can put up with Geronimo, YOU can use a condom".

    Oh how we smiled!

Don't think I've got the ad BTW. But I might be wrong....

  • GERONIMO! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! THATS IT! Oh my my god! Thankyou! Oh, I SO hope you've got this one! You've just ended about 17 years of bewilderment, now I can get on with my life! Thanks again, adarchive!

  • No probs! Incidentally, I have a feeling the bloke in the first Ragu advert is Paul Putner, the original Curious Orange. Might be wrong of course, but it does look like him??!!

  • It certainly does look like him, right age for the time it was filmed! I actually took the name from The Fall's song, which they played on the intro to the Curious Orange segment (pun intended!) on TMWRNJ! Oh and it's not 'coz I'm related to Jason!

  • Thanks! I didn't know it was an actual song.

TMWRNJ was funnier than a lot of these late Friday night CH4 "comedy" concoctions. It was also shown on a Sunday morning without the need for any of that faux T4 pretentiousness too.

  • I'm quite a fan of public information films, but off-hand I don't recall this one, so if you do have it somewhere in your tape collection, adarchive, please upload it.

  • I definitely will if I have it, but only when I come to it - I'm doing my uploading strictly in chronological order, because it's easier for me to keep track of things that way!!

  • That's Geronimo. I've got that on my account.

  • Wow. A very slimline Johnathon Cainer in the Today advert.

  • 3.02 must be wed 28 dec 1988, what happened to the mcdonalds ad looked good, the brief sales ads are cool,

  • Note to anybody who asks me a similar question in future: if there is an incomplete advert on an ADARCHIVE clip, it's because I must have taped over it at the time of recording! I wouldn't deprive you all of a complete ad if I have it, but half an ad is better than no ad :)

  • I know it's only a few moments of that McDonald's ad, adarchive, but am I right in saying that the voice you hear is the late Patrick Allen?

  • The Texas superstore in Saffron Walden has now been replaced by a Homebase, so don't you all go looking for Texas Tom, y'hear!
