  • For you, my friend, the comedy is over.

  • You know, I've never heard Henning speak German.

  • Oh god, such a bad and clicheed show....

  • schusterlehrling wot do you mean its not much of a challenge? and how has the english football team got any thing to do with anything lol.

  • The real problem here is that the true German humour (as the English are somewhat simplified or harmless Germans, driven by economic lust and greed, maybe due to the misty Island climate) is much darker and more sarcastic; exchange students may know what I am talking about: Not only the cheap Nazis jokes, like that someone mentions in any jovially discussion about that matter: Hey! My grandfather died in a concentration camp! and saying after a pause: He did fell drunk off a watch tower; ...

  • but that very sarcastic way even of the contemporaries: Things like calling Mussolini (after his defeats in Africa and the Balkans) the district leader (Gauleiter) of Italy or referring to the egomaniac rule of Hitler s minion Hans Frank over Poland by saying: In the west is France and in the east, too (France in German, Frankreich, means realm of the Franks and so the word can have both meanings). Of course: One has to suffer in school under the German leassons and have your stay abroad.

  • Not funny...

  • i dont really think many british people hate germans because of the war to be honest if we make jokes about you than thats all they are is jokes get over it. i like germans and most of the people i know do....but apart from that henning bloke ive never heard of a german comedian trying to make british laugh

  • @matthewjez - I know at least one person who hates Germans because of the war, despite having lived here for 20 years and having met many lovely people during that time. The prejudices were obviously stronger than the personal experiences.

  • @expatbritingermany Thats only true for Veterans and morons. Veterans because of their traumatic experiences, which makes it understandable and morons well because their morons, i guess. And i do know germans too who seriously dislike Russia, the US, France and Britain just because of the war... but all of these fit in one of those two categories. (and maybe some of them in both)

  • @matthewjez

Cause it's not much of a challenge.

And the hopeless cases we leave for the Italians.

    Like the english football team.

  • That`s awful! Germans as Britishs see us, that is only awful! That is nothing of our homour.

  • Oh yes it is.

We take the piss of British weather, food, hooligans, soccer defeats, the Queen, and we don't ask if any British might feel offended.

  • soccer is the american version of football, mainly a women sport. Fußball auf Englisch heißt FOOTBALL!

  • True.

I might indeed have offended some British guy...

  • Hmmm, anger and insults over humour......?

M'thinks someone is missing the point(s) entirely!

    ;-)

    But that's a Canadian 4U. Now, WE'RE funny.

  • what I find to be pathetic is the fact that so many English people still haven't gotten over WW1 and WW2 (deaths and bombings by Germany). Did not German cities get obiterated on a far greater scale? But I never felt the same hatred in their hearts toward the English. It is like the Jews who are still mad at Spain over the Spanish Inquisition centuries ago.....how long does it take to forgive people? Lets move forward and love each other please. Life is too short to hate.

  • what i find pathetic is people from the other side of the world thinking they are well placed to judge cultures they have absolutely no understanding of.

the english have a similar relationship with germany as we do with france, australia and the US. we take the piss because we are more or less family, not because theres a simmering animosity.

ze germans and french get treated like royalty in the pubs i drink in just because we WONT let history dictate our future.

  • amen brother. They actually teach Israeli kids who come to visit Germany and Poland to see the remains of the death camps, that they shouldn't mingle with locals because they still hate Jews.

  • @omegavalerius

Yes, that's why flights to German cities are so popular in Israel.

    No joke.

  • i dont have to speak the language to find something funny. physical comedy comes to mind.

  • but i have to admit you were right with one point: your comedys are indeed enjoyed all over the world :)

    i LOVE monty pythons!

  • I have a friend from the German exchange and she was as funny as hell! Anybody can be funny, it doesn't matter if they are german or american or whatever, its just the person.

  • @Rachefly - I think you are quite right. What amuses me is when people who don't even know where Germany is on the map try to tell me how 'miserable and humourless' the Germans are - and I've lived here for 35 years!! I admit that initially I found most Germans rather stern and unwelcoming - but a lot has changed since then, and the younger people in Germany now are just the same as anywhere else in Europe.

  • Yea, it's annoying when people talk crap about other's just based on their ethnic background. You cant say ALL german's are humorless, these guys are German and they look funny to me. I think people just need to get off the steryotypes and actually get to know people first. I've been friends with German exvhange kid's before. And a majority of them had a good sense of humor, one of them should have been a comedian and few weren't really into jokes. They were all different in their own way.

  • i bet you ran around acting like a arrogant, ignorant cunt (like here on youtube)... of course nobody in your range was laughing...

just stay on your island and we're ALL happy :)

  • of course you can't laugh at our comedians, because you don't speak our language you fucking moron!

seriously, how stupid can a human be???

if your ignorance allowes it you can watch "volker pispers - history of usa and terrorism". it's the only one with subtitles that comes to my mind right now.

btw: you are the first person i've ever met who didn't like germany... so i think there's sth wrong with YOU and not with germany ;)

  • LOL!

  • Other people won those things. Not you. You are a failure.

  • won what? what the fuck are you talking about?

  • I really liked that video... but I have to tell you this: we germans are funny....ok some of us can be funny.... well, some few

but we all like to laugh and even though some of our comedians lost their ability to tell jokes that are really funny and not just stupied.... we still have masters of comedy !

those Germans shown in the video do exist !!!

but they exist in every country, and it's FUN TO SEE THEM PLAYED FROM COMEDIANS !!!!!!!!!!

  • I've had plenty of German friends over the years and we laugh together as much as anybody else. I never got the 'Germans don't have a sense of humor' thing. I think all humans have a sense of humor. It's involuntary. 'Yes We Have No Bananas' was a hit in the middle of the post-WWI economic catastrophe. That's funny. Or maybe my friends are just weirdos.

  • I'm German and I'm feeling the same about british people !

  • i'm from germany. i'm 16 years old. and i really don't care what you think of germany (most of you don't know anything and just like to offend people)

just let me tell you that i had a wonderful day at school, we laughed almost all day no matter if the teacher was talking or not. we have some great guys in our class who "argued" with our teacher all the time, they joked around and the teachers often joined in. and as long as i have this, you guys can start as much rumours about germany as u want

  • oh i think we do have a sense of humour... although it's not on a high level. i prefer the british one^^

  • Yes, we Germans don't have any sense of humour and our anatomy makes laughing impossible.

    Dumbfck yankee..

  • I took German and they taught me German humor is very, well..nonexistant. In fact humor consultants are brought into German companies just to teach them humor when they deal with other countries, especially the Irish and the American.

  • the whole world knows : we germans have no humor

  • I left Germany when I was a kid and grew up in US and I thank god for that.

I went to visit my family in Germany and founds thinks so weird here + I dont speak German.

I know it from my dad, German dont have humor and I have experienced it, no hard feelings. Got 2 work on ur humor

  • I did not ask for ur opion kid

  • the allCULTUREdGermans do have humour and can ( even ) SING , especially win the 2010-EUROvision Song Contest ( with song in English!) like the SWEDEs, IRISh, etc but NOt shit englishBrits!

  • @KGBfbiSECUpolitia - I am English, and have lived in Germany for many years. I was pleased that Germany won the ESC, but I object to the way you refer to the British people. That is not very cultured.

  • expatbritingermany,I only repeat what english"LADieS" & KIDs=WCsToo brag ab. in Tv Documentaries,Media (see mrs.Bercow, lynnBarber's SEXualBoasts, jonRoss & RussellBrand's incident,etc).
