Clearly the guy coming the other way on the wrong side of the road is at fault. So what that the two filming this went over the double lines to accomodate the bends if they could see nothing was coming? I don't buy that they were riding too quickly either, fact is they could have been doing half the speed and in a slightly different way further could have actually collided with the oncoming bike. C'mon the guy had full viz across the corner when he was over the lines and could have changed his line if any oncoming traffic appeared. Not in the same class as the dork on the cruiser who was totally blind and committed to his line.

As others have said double yellow means 'no passing/overtaking'. The guys earlier were NOT passing AND they had a clear line through an s-bend. Unlike the twunt on the Beemer who should be taken outside and pelted with his own shit.

The BMW guy is a total ass and caused a set up for a fatality--possibly his and someone else's. You don't pass on a curve, especially on an outside curve, especially on a cliff dropoff, especially when you are riding a lardassed R bike by BMW, that bike has no acceleration, it's like 30 horsepower less than a 600. Plus he was way over in the other lane, he could have been right over the double line but he was way over. This is how people die.

There's a difference when they cross the double yellow as they can actually see what's on the other side. If you notice when they can't they stay in their lane, and it just so happens when they did someone was being irresponsible.

As others have said double yellow means 'no passing/overtaking'. The guys earlier were NOT passing AND they had a clear line through an s-bend. Unlike the twunt on the Beemer who should be taken outside and pelted with his own shit.
Those who criticised the riders for failure to negotiate the grass, maybe you lame-brains would like to check your reflexes after such a near-death experience... Frankly I thought they showed great skill in dropping the bikes without too much damage to themselves.

While I'm glad nobody was hurt I have to say I have very little sympathy for you, it seems everybody riding that road that day was an idiot, road markings are there for a reason and when you ignore them bad shit can (and often will) happen, save the race track style riding for the race track and ride the road like a road, carry on ignoring road markings and traffic rules an one day I'll come visit your grave.

The BMW guy is a total ass and caused a set up for a fatality--possibly his and someone else's. You don't pass on a curve, especially on an outside curve, especially on a cliff dropoff, especially when you are riding a lardassed R bike by BMW, that bike has no acceleration, it's like 30 horsepower less than a 600. Plus he was way over in the other lane, he could have been right over the double line but he was way over. This is how people die.

A cardinal sportbike rule, do not pass on a blind corner, PERIOD. He would of been the sole reason for this near tragedy. That rider should have been stopped and made an example of.

Just like they teach you in the MSF class... an "outside-inside-outside" line would have almost totally prevented this incident.
That being said, the BMW rider overtaking through a blind corner is a total idiot.

yea although he was on the wrong side of the double yellow in the previous corner it wasn't a blind corner, he could see into through and out of the corner and see that the road ahead was clear, old mate on the other bike was coming out from behind a van on a blind corner. so as stupid as they may be for being on the wrong side earlier the other fellow was worse, I feel sorry for the van driver having been the innocent bystander

The guys filming are not to be flamed. The yellow line only means no passing. THEY WERE NOT PASSING! SO they crossed the line on an open turn with no traffic. So friggin what. The guy that PASSED a van ON A TURN is totally and solely to blame. SO all those saying, ' those guys get what they deserve for crossing the yellow, earlier on', GET A FUCKIN LIFE!!!!!

I agree. double yellow lines means no passing...but the bike guys are the only ones crossing them. the best driver is the one in the van. the biker that dropped his bike can't blame the other biker for the exact thing he is doing. tool bags make us all look bad.

This is why I have absolutely NO desire to ride Deal's Gap. Great, it has lovely scenery and ton of turns......uhhhh, and its still a public road with tons of blind corners and oncoming traffic.
For the effort it takes to get there (for me anyway) you can just as easily go to a racetrack and do everything faster and more safely.
