First off i want to say i own an H1, i respect the car greatly and used to thing the H3 was a joke. Until i actually went off roading with one. They are extremely durable and we had one fully stock H3 (only had RR) and he stayed with the group. He got over everything i did, even climbed over the rock went through the deep water. They are extremely capable. So much, that i'm actually thinking about purchasing one. The H2 is too big, but the H3 is small and nimble and a great car in the end.

The Vortec 3500 was never a bad powerplant. People think "Oh it's a bad engine it's only 5 cylinders oh no!!" and don't take the many other factors that make an engine into consideration. People did the same shit with the NSX. "Oh it's only a 6 cylinder!!! It sucks!" yet when you put it on a track with 10 cylinder and 12 cylinder supercars, it tended to dominate. There IS a replacement for displacement, people. It's called technology.
Even if I was to buy a 4x4, the h2/h3 are shit except the h1. If I wanted to waste my money it wouldnt be an h3/h2, Id rather buy a f250 7.3 powerstroke diesel, but thats just my opinion.
actually, hummer H2+ are built on a two ton expidition chassis. the only actual difference between the two is body styling and mechanical layout, which i guess is big, but they are essentially the same thing. this new "300" hp engine is rated at 4000+ rpm's; no one will actually be driving a low revving V8 at 4000+, so the horse power rating is bullshit. and the rack an pinion is aluminum. so its gunna break in no time flat.

The h3 and h2 especially are pretty much poser vehicles in my opinion although i still like to drive my sister's whip. And the h2 is very wide and not very high, so i think an h3 would fare better off road.
They had Hummer come to my ski hill a few years back to show off their "amazing capability". It got stuck halfway up the hill... some random jumped in his toyota 4runner, went and pulled the hummer out and continued to the top. Made me doubt Hummer and have yet to be impressed.

Only things that set the H3 apart from the Canyon and Colorado is the Hummer badge and SUV/Crossover body.

It doesn't put out 555hp at 1,500rpm,it tops out at 6,000.
And it's not the HP that counts.it's torque.
The X6 makes 500 lbs feet of torque at 1,500 rpm.
The problem is that BMW doesn't know who to use the power for anything other that going fast.
Fast is ok but the X6 is supposed to be an SUV...FAIL!

2nd,a 2010 BMW x6 only makes 300hp,just like the H3.
A modified X6 makes 555HP @6000 and 500lbs feet of torque @1500rpm.

The standard has 600nM of torque from 1750-4500 rpm and that's even when they didn't go for the power, but for efficiency. First you need to learn the difference between HP and torque .
2nd,a 2010 BMW x6 only makes 300hp,just like the H3.
A modified X6 makes 555HP @6000 and 500lbs feet of torque @1500rpm.

The H3 doesn't really weigh all that much. 4,700-4,900 pounds, which is actually not bad for a mid-sized SUV. A Chevy Trailblazer EXT weighs virtually the same, around 4,900 pounds.
I mean hell. A Wrangler's a hell of a lot smaller and still weighs almost 4,000 pounds..

BS!!! A new Jeep JK cost between 25k and 35k... Maybe you could buy three 1960s - 1970s Jeeps (CJs) but to rebuild them to anywhere near new quality would cost you far more than 40k.
There maybe better offroaders than the H3, but that doesn't mean the H3 isn't a very capable vehicle.

The Vortec 3500 was never a bad powerplant. People think "Oh it's a bad engine it's only 5 cylinders oh no!!" and don't take the many other factors that make an engine into consideration. People did the same shit with the NSX. "Oh it's only a 6 cylinder!!! It sucks!" yet when you put it on a track with 10 cylinder and 12 cylinder supercars, it tended to dominate. There IS a replacement for displacement, people. It's called technology.

actually, hummer H2+ are built on a two ton expidition chassis. the only actual difference between the two is body styling and mechanical layout, which i guess is big, but they are essentially the same thing. this new "300" hp engine is rated at 4000+ rpm's; no one will actually be driving a low revving V8 at 4000+, so the horse power rating is bullshit. and the rack an pinion is aluminum. so its gunna break in no time flat.
lots of respect for the H1. but i go with jeeps everytime.

kinda. Most people can afford a used one. My sister bought a 2006 h3 last year (2008) with about 40,XXXmi for about 18,000 w/ tax. The h3 and h2 especially are pretty much poser vehicles in my opinion although i still like to drive my sister's whip. And the h2 is very wide and not very high, so i think an h3 would fare better off road.

They had Hummer come to my ski hill a few years back to show off their "amazing capability". It got stuck halfway up the hill... some random jumped in his toyota 4runner, went and pulled the hummer out and continued to the top. Made me doubt Hummer and have yet to be impressed.
