  • What style is this?

  • great spirit, try to relax the arms and shoulders. so every move can come from the hips(hara).

    Nice Kata!

  • I liked this kata; you have done it with presence, power and style. Is this the curriculum for ZDK or did you bring it in from another style? You are a good sempai.Very Strong. You must have good mentors and a strong club behind you.

I would be interested to understand the origins and the bunkai of this kata.

    PX.

  • Thanks for the compliments.

This is not a ZDK curriculum kata. I started out at United Family Martial Arts in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada about ten years ago. As for the strength and presence, that is due to Krista Shearer (now Krista Kersey) and Brandon Kersey, my original instructors. They taught that each kata has 7 parts to work on: eyes, focus, breathing, technique, kiai, pace and most importantly, spirit. As for bunkai, that would take a whole lesson!
