As long as he stay away from Price and Dallas, Olubamiiwo might get quite far. He's got to tidy up his technique, skills and defence though. Being big and stong will only get him so far. Would be interesting to see how he'd do agains Fury or Chisora.
I like Larry, hes good to watch and i like the way he's not rushing in to big fights, he's getting some experience and that'll serve him well in the long run!!!!!
Awesome power but he could do with some work on his technique and footwork. Plus he seems to come in with his chin out. Not a smart move, especially in the HW division. I hope he tightens his game up because he could go far.
I have to say despite his age, of all the domestic HWS, I am xtremly impresssed wiv Olubamiwo. His power is seriously scary. His body looks like it's been carved outta marble(& dat is xtremly impressive for a HW these days). I mean he is knocking guys out! He's putting dem to sleep! Fury for instance, is TKOing alot guys, so u cud argue his power is overrated but Olubamiwo is knocking everyone out! Hope he goes far.
@swordmed iused to watch larry at his ameature fight and he was quite often outclassed but his power was frightfull and knocked em out clean every time i watched him but in the senior novice finals he was defeated
Olubamiwo is a good fighter, I think he's a little like Skelton. Olubamiwo is definitely raw, he only had 10 amateur fights, but his power is phenomenal and he is genuinely enormous. He seems a sensible guy too (he's got a degree) and has a decent bit of history to make him marketable - he's been inside for 4/5 years hence the late start. He's also willing to spend money to invest in his own career. He pays out of his own pocket to travel to Roach's gym. God fighter.
i remember seeing this guy sparring at my gym,1 of the biggest most powerful human beings ive ever seen, ive seen taller guys (he's 6'4") but ive never seen a boxer overall as massive, i think he was even bigger when i saw him. He's extremely powerful. But the 2 most important questions are- 1)can he take a big shot? 2)does he have stamina? if the answers yes 2 both of those he goes on 2 fight at european level, possibly world (if defense improves aswell!), but at 31 they have to move him up quick!
This was actually an eliminator for the English title and not, as announced, for the British title. The British title eliminator was the Fury vs. McDermott rematch.
Larry has power but lacks the skills. I can't see him lugging that frame around for ten rounds either. A top 5 domestic fighter at best.
Read an interview with him the other day and he's a top bloke. Needs more basics though.
@superchilled yep, very agreable chap but needs to really polish those boxing skills. Any accomplished pro with a decent defense is going to expose this guy. He's like the Bob Sapp of boxing! lol

John McDermott is a good, tough, strong, solid boxer, who is very underated because he carries a few extra pounds.
