Couldn't make the shows - but this is a great consolation.Sandy's voice sends a shiver down my spine, but Alison makes a superb job of it.A good singer will always try & bring something different to a performance & Alison Krauss is a very good singer. Thanks for the vid Mr Barroom !
that gal has some great pipes! Terrific voices....
Im as big a Zep fan as there ever was, but this is wonderful experimental music and some re-interpretations of great older compositions. If you really LOVE music, this kind of thing is what its all about. For all the Zepsters..........Plant and the guys have given you an extensive catalogue of recordings and live shows (check out the Plant/Page stuff) for you to hear at your leisure. I recommend Tea for One myself.

that white trash country twang of hers doesn't seem to work in this song. The falsetto was too purposeful in the original. Besides, Plant's Zep 4 days are long over. Its sad to hear him stretch out his three note range to the limit on this song. They would have done better to share a Hot Dog. (aw mister negativity, such a frowny face :( why don't you go and listen to something else if you don't like it mister frowny face) oh pooie
I post not to take anything away from Alison's rendition; I liked it. However, there is just "something" about Sandy Denny's voice that is haunting and beautiful and I know of no one who has been able to affect me such as her voice has.
Only an angel could ever do what Denny did and Krauss is an angel. Agreed, the version changed but, I admire their guts for trying to update something so perfect to begin with.
Just saw them @ Merriweather last night, the whole show was just unbelievable. Of all the great acts I've seen, Floyd, Dead, Stones, etc. Plant (& Krauss :-) ) were by far the best... I hhighly reccomend catching them on tour if you can. HUGE Zep fan, not so much for Krauss but their chemistry is unreal.
I just saw them in Cananaigua, NY, and this song was BY FAR the highlight of the show! As the previous poster said, it was worth the price of admission all by itself. Stunningly beautiful.
Many thanks for posting this. My good lady couldn't be there and however hard I try, words can't describe this. I can now share a little piece of a wonderful night with her. Our first date was Led Zep at Knebworth Aug 79!!!Cheers mate.
This great -what you lack in picture quality you make up with sound quality.I saw them at Wembley and they were great. Thanks for this - great memories...
I went to this Cardiff concert. Loved it so much, went again a couple of weeks later in Wembley. This was a definite highlight. Thanks for posting this video reminder.
I saw them in Birmingham AL in April. Awesome show!! There was a couple in front of us who were also big Led Zep/Robert Plant fans. After Robert & Alison performed this song, they turned around and said that they would've paid JUST to see that performance.
Oh my God I was there! Thanks so much for posting this! :D Absolutely fantastic concert wasn't it? Having heard one of Zeppelin's members sing one of their songs, especially THIS song... well I can die now. :P And Alison Krauss' voice was incredible!
Yeah I don't get why that is... It's such a memorable opening you'd think it would be instantly recognisable! I heard the first couple of notes and instantly I was nudging my friend :P
These Zeppelin tunes were 30 yrs ahead of there time thats why they still pack a great punch :))))

Sandy Denny has nothing on 2:36 -- 2:44. That is stone cold perfect.

She has got one of the most beautiful voices ever. Linda Rhondstadt is about the only voice I can think of that compares.
