  • I think the only differences I see in your Moss stitch version is the same basic pattern that is in my book, except my book is using sc and dc instead of sl st and hdc. Your version is still in sync with my book with the basic idea of where the stitches go.

  • I like the look of this stitch, but I do have a question...AllFreeCrochet also shows a tutorial for a moss stitch on their channel, but it is worked differently from this tutorial you have shared. Are there different versions of this stitch? Any way, I really like the texture of the way you've shared how to do this stitch! Thank you so much for sharing!

  • @stickyrice101 I think the version on the AllFreeCrochet is actually a seed stitch and not a moss stitch, if I'm correct that seed stitch is not another name for moss stitch. If you look at my other comment, you'll see what I mean. BTW, the name of my book is: The Complete Encyclopedia of Stitchery. The author is Mildred Graves Ryan. Although I bought it more recently, the original copyright is 1979. The AllFreeCrochet stitch is easy enough but not a real moss stitch.

  • I favour crochet more than knitting, even when I'm making for our Prayer Shawl Ministry. This is such a lovely textured stitch, especially for people who have limited or no sight ... something for them to run their fingers over ... thank you for posting. You are an excellent teacher.

  • The finished look was so pretty!
