I agree we are to preach the Good News not the gospel of success. It does take a lot of money to preach in the comfort of an air conditioned church cause Jesus preached in the streets primarily. The bible says there will be a great falling away. Some are falling while in church, because they are following the pastor and the message of prosperity. If you are called the preach then preach the gospel then whoever listens, listens if they do not it was THEIR destiny not to listen.
i used to believe in christianity because that's how i was raised. i was told those who didn't believe went to hell and that i was supposed to experience change. the only change i noticed was acting like all the other fakes in church. it's a real shame because the message sounds so nice and even now i get sucked in by it because it's been so engrained in my programmed concept of reality since childhood but really i think it's crap. some of the bible is good but i've never seen anyone healed.
Benny Hinn ruined me when I worked for his ministry. I haven't been able to go to another church since I discovered the falsehood of profit preaching ministries.
My biggest prayer of my life now is "God, don't let go of me". I don't have the strength to trust man's preaching again, but I will always love my God.

It takes money to do ministry, but the means people or pastors use are all messed up. If you follow Christ, then God will provide and make provision to those who seek His righteousness: do good no matter what. He seemed pretty clear to me that it wasn't so much that he was in unforgiveness, but rather that the networks were leaving forgiveness out of the picture and making material prosperity the central message. He seems offended that the Gospel has taken on a new definition that is more Americanized religion. Anyone coming to Christ 'primarily' for personal gain comes with pretense. That's what he's protecting the sheep from.

A few years ago after relocating, I (unknownly) sat in a word faith Church for a few weeks. I like to think, God supressed all the money talk until after I came to know a few members. Some of these members lives are destroyed/being destroyed. They thought God is OBLIGATED to provide anything from spouses to speedboats because they "planted a seed of faith." Others simply have "itching ears" and don't care about the truth. I feel these Churches should be identified as cults.
Another thing - since I stopped "tithing" to the greedy and started following JESUS and truly came to the end of myself - found that he is the TRUE riches - I got offered a book deal, my husband got a 40% raise - among other things - but it didn't even matter because it meant nothing to us - so it's easier to give away : )
Yes - God is not an ATM machine - put in your deposit and he will give you back. I used to be there - I would give out of fear. Now, I give as I am led by His Spirit and more often it is more than 10%. The bottom line is the prosperity preachers are selling something they don't even own! God ultimately is the One who is Sovereign. Some people are simply born into poverty in Third world Nations. Many of them will die in their poverty but they are rich in Christ Jesus. I've read a few passages where Paul admits to weeping as he's writing the letter. Phillipians comes to mind where he talks about the "enemies of the Cross" whose "god is their belly".
listen to Paul Washer. He cries over the youth of this nation who claim Christ but do not obey His commandments. Jesus wept over Jerusalem because they would not receive the truth and they killed the prophets. I don't know what else this guy believes/preaches, but I know the prosperity gospel is eisegesis: making a conclusion, then finding the scriptures to back it up.

I was returning from working on a failed venture by a word of faith adherent where one of the Big Boys had made a surprise visit that evening. On the way home the Holy Spirit overwhelmed me with grief that THEY would bastardize my beloved Lord's Gospel in such a way...I cried the whole hour drive home.
The world needs more "word" like this! Some times we need to just sit back and study the word for ourselves and pray that God give us understanding. It's so many wolves in sheeps clothing, 'till it's not safe for the new believers.

He seemed pretty clear to me that it wasn't so much that he was in unforgiveness, but rather that the networks were leaving forgiveness out of the picture and making material prosperity the central message. He seems offended that the Gospel has taken on a new definition that is more Americanized religion. Anyone coming to Christ 'primarily' for personal gain comes with pretense. That's what he's protecting the sheep from.

what I believe is a sin is our reaction to the less fortunate.Are we willing to share when God calls us to do so.Are we humble enough to see that those who are in deep pain and can glorify God in the midtst of it, is more in Gods heart than those who have material prosperity??I believe those who are prosperous with that mindset will be honoured and blessed by God.

A few years ago after relocating, I (unknownly) sat in a word faith Church for a few weeks. I like to think, God supressed all the money talk until after I came to know a few members. Some of these members lives are destroyed/being destroyed. They thought God is OBLIGATED to provide anything from spouses to speedboats because they "planted a seed of faith." Others simply have "itching ears" and don't care about the truth. I feel these Churches should be identified as cults.

Satan is the "god" of this world (II Cor 4:4) this means he has ownership of these things. What we have (as in tangible) are subject to him. Why did John state in 1John 2:15= "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him."
Jesus promised us a life of hardship for following him.

God's people need to return to the old paths and turn from the iniquities that is in their lives and return back to God. I am not for beating God's people over the head but to telling them the truth in God's word. We need to flee from evil and turn back to God. It starts in the heart and then it will show in every area of our lives because it is shown through the light of Jesus Christ. God bless you for standing for truth.

I've read a few passages where Paul admits to weeping as he's writing the letter. Phillipians comes to mind where he talks about the "enemies of the Cross" whose "god is their belly".

listen to Paul Washer. He cries over the youth of this nation who claim Christ but do not obey His commandments. Jesus wept over Jerusalem because they would not receive the truth and they killed the prophets. I don't know what else this guy believes/preaches, but I know the prosperity gospel is eisegesis: making a conclusion, then finding the scriptures to back it up.

The wolf in the flock DOES make it hard for the righteous Pastors and Ministers to raise legitimate funds and ask for God inspired giving to aid God inspired ministries. The "wolves in the flock" are indeed a negative factor in proper growth of the church and its ministries...

Thanks 1Cor2two. It's good to see a preacher attacking this damnable doctrine. THIS is the true gospel, that you repent, receive Jesus in your heart, be baptized with the Holy Ghost, and walk in the spirit, not the flesh. John the Baptist preached "repent!" Jesus preached "repent!" All the New Testament writers preached "repent!"
Remember, it was Satan who told Jesus he'd make him rich if he'd fall down and worship him. Jesus didn't listen to him, but today's so-called "preachers" sure have.

we don't really have "goodness" in our hearts. The bible says the heart is desperately wicked, who can know it. But, I think I know what you mean. True Christians, once they know they should give, should give b/c it's we love God, and it's the right thing to do.

I was returning from working on a failed venture by a word of faith adherent where one of the Big Boys had made a surprise visit that evening. On the way home the Holy Spirit overwhelmed me with grief that THEY would bastardize my beloved Lord's Gospel in such a way...I cried the whole hour drive home.

Friends, it has all started at the cross for those of us who were born from above, and may it forever be in our remembrance. The importance of pure Gospel in these last days is far greater than pride of life and wealth. It may be we truly live in the last days before the Lord comes... So teach it like it is. No aliens, even though they exist, no adultery or prosperity, but Jesus Christ crucified.
