So beautiful is the country of sierre leone, my grandfather was a mende man, and I visited S.L way back in 1984 to try and trace my roots, I met a wonderful young lady called jariatsu koroma from Washington road Freetown, I would dearly love to see her again , I wonder if she survived the war?. Very nice pictures, very interesting. I have to go there some time, I have a friend there, so hopefully some day I will get to visit him. Pity that still there's the big shadow of the happenings 15 years ago seems to follow the image of the country. There's so many clips of the civil war back then, but you don't find many on the landscapes, the people and culture!

That's a great theory but it has more flaws than my granny's stockings. 1) Apart from the natural beaches there are no coastal tourist attractions. 2) There are no South African tourists. 3) There are no European tourists. Remember, Voltaire was speaking from the the comfort of a privileged lifestyle in 18th Century France. In Sierra Leone the average life expectancy is 40 and most survive on less that $1 a day. Optimism is the only thing that keeps them going.

Thanks for this video. I remember going to all these beaches when I was a boy scout. At that time lots of people did not even know these places existed. We use to hike from Albert Academy through Fourah Bay College, the mountain villages of Regent etc all the way to Black Johnson, York, Tokeh, Goderich ....man it brings back good memories ...:)
