@igotwoodhaha Metal was inspired by rock, they uses a lot of the same scales and such, but I see your point. Anyways, I've come to the conclusion that Alice and Black Sabbath are the founders of metal. Sabbath pioneered many of the heavy riffs while Alice's attitude and theatrics laid the foundations. Add in that you have bands like Children of Bodom covering his songs and many others cite him as their inspiration, and you have a living legend.

Alice has been in the business for better than 40 years ("Pretties For You" came out in 1969, IIRC) and he's served as the inspiration for many current acts, has collaborated with Ozzy and Rob Zombie (to name a few), back in '86 Megadeth was the opening act for his "Nightmare Returns" tour and it never ceases to amaze me just how many bands (Children of Bodom for example) do covers of his songs. When you think about it, Alice has been one of the most influential figures in rock and roll.

Not sure what they've done to contribute to the development of rock and roll (before the metallica fanatics show up, it's not a rip against Metallica, they're a great band, but there are others more deserving of a hall-of-fame slot, like Alice.) @satan69waxr Well I will say that Metallica kicked ass at first. On the other hand, one of the best songs on Kill Em All (Four Horsemen) they pretty much ripped off of Dave. That said, I am working on One. I take a lot of shit for that being one of my fave songs of theirs, but I think it was the height of what they were capable of. A pretty nice ballad to open and complete thrash and burn at the end.
