  • he is a virtuose !

  • Subtitles for us simpletons pleeeeease

  • @thekeithchannel The first part, he's saying "Rachmaninov had very big hands." The second part he says, "Since I'm Korean..." and then "small hands". (:

  • kkk... muito bom!

  • You know what they say about big hands.... Big gloves...

  • I'd also like to know what the name of this piece is. Thank you in advance to anyone that can help.

  • What song was that? Sorry but I don't know much about Rachmaninoff

  • @RAmainville It's Rachmaninoff's Piano Prelude in C Sharp minor.

  • @RAmainville prelude in C# minor op.3 n°2

  • This is genius!!

  • glad im not the only one who who cant play rachmaninov because of that ;) thats absolutely genius :P

  • Apparently, Rachmaninoff had big hands.

  • lkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • HAahahhahaa, I will do this on the next time I play it. Superb!

  • I wish I had the source for this, but I have read that this is not the first version of this skit. Another comedy do did it first.

Even so, this is very well done, and both of these men are outstanding musicians. They need to be in order to play these pieces they do, and even more so because they understand what they are joking with!

  • I hate when the audience is dumb enough to clap before a piece is over. Classless people.

  • @tjtheplay To say that his "etudes aren't that difficult" reeks of arrogance... something which is all too common in the piano world.

  • @kirinlager49 Oh really arrogance? In no way do I have an attitude of superiority. You might wanna check your definition.

Maybe I should rephrase what I said: his etudes and preludes aren't as difficult as everyone makes them out to be. Like flight of the bumblebee or La Campanella, they're overrated in difficulty.

  • @kirinlager49 But STILL, one who says that his etudes are "extermely difficult to play" reeks of someone who doesn't do finger exercises like the Hannon, Godowsky, or Czerny studies.

  • Joo is gorgeous. Besides being a fantastic pianist. And to have a sense of humor too. I can hardly stand it. And Igudesman is the perfect foil, with absolutely flawless timing. I'm in awe of this team.

  • xD You don't have to have biig hands for this piece of Rach though.

  • stfu!!! fucking asian!!

  • FUCK YEAH !!!

Why the fuck did Rachmaninov write songs with too many notes to play with fucking abnormal big hands ?

  • @fuckmania07 His preludes and Etudes aren't that difficult. Only his Sonatas and piano concertos are extremely hard.

  • Comment removed

  • @tjtheplay What a load of bullshit !!! Some of his etudes are extremely difficult to play, e.g. Op 39 No 6

  • @kirinlager49 There's an eight year old who can play that!

But seriously though, check how his first Sonata. It's so underplayed and unknown because it's so difficult that everyone tries to avoid it. Compared to his etudes and preludes, his sonatas and piano Concertos are FAR more difficult.

If you do finger exercises then his preludes and etudes shouldn't be too hard.

  • @tjtheplay I am familiar with all of rachmaninoff's works... I agree that his concertos and sonatas are more difficult, but to say that his preludes and etudes aren't difficult is a load of crap.

And why would I care if an 8 year old can play it poorly?? You know full well that there is a vast gap between being able to play the notes, and being able to play it well.

  • @kirinlager49 You're right, it rather is kinda sloppy, but still, with a little bit of practice he should be able to play it well at age 10.

  • I used to have big hands...

Then I took an arrow to the knee

  • @eduardopescado I've seen this comment somewhere else...come on...be original

  • @Jetstar3000 so, what's the piece?

  • @candidbreeze95 Prelude in C#m,Op.3 No.2

  • Rachmaninov hated that piece; Harpo Marx used that antipathy to get Rachmaninov to move to the far end of the artists' village where both had taken temporary residence . Rach demanded that he be moved as far as possible from that dreadful harpist.

  • ty alot dimitryn79

  • 手が小さくてもラフマニノフは弾けるんですねえ。。。

  • с# moll prelude. Actually, it is not for big-handed. Unlike some other Rchmaninoff pieces.

  • what is the piece joo plays>>>?? :p plz tell me youtube fans!!!

  • 555 That's make me smile. ^__^

  • This is awesome

  • get aids and die!

  • You know what they say about big hands... big genitals

  • haha

  • Very original and very funny! Even Rachmaninov would have laughed along with the audience.

  • @nozeadinpencizx

Its actually completely unoriginal - this same sketch was done years ago by one person with the exact same piece and wood blocks. Shame Igudesman and Joo took it without credit to the original, really

  • @callumseyalook Perhaps Igudesman and Joo didn't know someone else had done it before. Do you know who the earlier someone was?

  • @nozeadinpencizx Guy's name is Rainer Hersch. If you search Rachmaninov big hands it's the third or fourth one that comes up. Although Igudesman and Joo did a much better job of it in my opinion.

  • I have played this song on the piano just like this guy.

    When I was 11

    No joke

  • @bananamograma i played this piece when i was 9.

  • @grenadasparta It is very evident that modesty is also one of your most prominent qualities, like banana-head you have replied to.

  • @bananamograma Well done. You used up precious YouTube space to boast about your skills and attempt to exert your ill deserved superiority over people who actually try to enjoy this piece of music.

  • Small hands... But only hands small ;) :D...

  • I just saw them live last week and I was nearly on the ground laughing. Bravo! One of the best acts of the night for sure!

  • Ssoo funny

  • Why don't people make smaller keyboards? I've been asking myself that question every since i started playing the piano.

  • :D

  • In fact, he is quite handsome.

  • ahahahaha

  • Nice to see a possible successor to Victor Borge. Funny stuff.

  • Too funny!

  • ive been raping the replay button over and over

  • 10 Points for Gryffindor

  • Thumbs up if one of your "clever" friends sent you this and you don't get the joke. Ah well type "Fat People Lol" and you're back to where you should be.

  • Say 'Hi' if Gareth Malone just told you to watch this.

  • Radio 3 sent me here. And most likely sent you here too.

  • Wow!

  • lol what would happen if igudesman handed the wrong stick?

  • This is so mind bogglingly clever. Joo is a first rate classical musician .... and to be able to have such fun with this signature Rachmaninov is so refreshing and funny. The coordination between these two rascals ... just breathtaking.

  • 277 people have big hands.

  • This guy is my hero

  • Lol

  • @Scaramanga87 so is yours, and so is mine

  • i laugh so hard when he said only his hand is small :D

  • wow a classical music playing korean comedy act... reminds me of Victor Borges :) bravo!

  • horrible video - perverse to make such shows

  • @andreyostr

    NO FUN ALLOWED.

  • You know what they say about men with BIG HANDS.

  • very clever :L xxx

  • lol ok for one of the chords it was 1m long. Rachmaninov himself didn't have hands that big....chords are rearranged la...

  • @deviatorz 'Tis a joke.

  • Unreal!

  • Anyone know where the original skit came from?

  • Haha. :D I have veeery small hands, i want to have one. :D

  • I play this song, after practicing for several months. Im lucky i have pretty big hands so i dont need those things to play the chords...

    btw i LOVE this song

  • Fantastic!!!!! :-) :-) :-)

  • i was laughing like crazy when i saw this....

  • I know this piece. I've seen the sheet music for it. It's pretty crazy. O_O

  • Lol, it's only as true as he says though :P

  • Amazing ahaha simply Amazing

  • this made me laugh so much hahahahahaha :)

  • Rachmaninoff may have had large hands, but his greatest piano interpreter, Arthur Rubinstein, had quite chubby hands, with short fingers, proving, for the Nth time, that size doesn't matter.

  • 1:43 lol

  • this song is just octaves, this guy just has small hands.

  • @blindiris22 except its not just octaves? Though this is actually one of rachmaninoffs easier pieces anyhow

  • @ImIntoAnimals ive been playing the song for about 4 months now. theres two ways in playing it. (the main theme that is here) you can take an octave on the right hand with 2 fingers on notes other than the two octave notes and the left hand takes the bottom two notes rather than making two chords that put the hands over each other. but yeah the song in its entirety isnt just octaves because theres alot in it. and yeah i found this piece relatively easy for rachmaninoff

  • @blindiris22 Oh thats an interesting way to play, I've just played it the standard way I suppose you can say. Its a good piece.

  • this is better than Cage's prepared piano XD

  • i wonder if he got a lotta ass with them big hands lol

  • No! No! It's not done!! Finish!!!

  • i love this haha.Fortunately you don't really need that big of hands to play this piece... i've struggled more in chopin preludes! it's to bad that i can't play it perfectly yet though lol... so yes those tools would help LOL.

  • XDDDDDDD oh brilliances xD. This is great.

  • Genius. Just pure genius.

  • There is a new; "Victor Borge', that brings brings great music & Humor to the next generation.

IMHO TWO Thumbs; ( They may be short), UP on this vid.

  • 2:14 Igudesman is bigger

  • Good skit. It's true Rachmaninoff could reach a span of a 12th. That's from a Middle C to a G over an octave higher. I can reach an 11th and that's a pretty good stretch. Oscar Peterson could reach a 13th ( from middle C to an A over an octave higher).

Anyway the skit was good fun. LOL

  • LOL "but only hand's small!"

Thumbs up if you get it :D

  • @Keannenth Obviously everyone get it... your comment is unnecessary

  • @Keannenth It's not an achievement to "get" that joke.

  • @Keannenth LOOOOLLL

  • @Keannenth I don't get it :( Can you please explain?

  • @Keannenth i don't plz tell me

  • @dadnapt24 Asians have small penis. He said he has small hands, but ONLY his hands, because he doesn't want other people to make fun of his penis. -.- Dude, it's logic.

  • @Keannenth Does he mean other parts of his body like his peniii- isn't small like his hands? lol XD

    Or is it just me?

  • @Keannenth only a retard or 5 year old wouldn t get it...

  • @Keannenth its that he has a big heart right?

  • I'm was watch this concert =)

  • @Piyanistcan5 not good spelling

  • what is the name of this melody?

  • @TheRafangel1 Prelude in C-Sharp Minor, Op 3, No. 2

  • 266 ppl have small hands.

  • i really dont undesrstand this video, if you really know about Rachmaninov you can NEVER upload this video .

  • @Motoquero28 I don't understand this comment...

  • This was funny until I learnt the piece. I don't think there are any chords where your hand has to stretch more than an octave, except for the few spread chords which you don't stretch for, you just play seperately. I mean, it's still pretty funny, but the joke has been ruined for me now. :P

  • @aquaticstone I really doubt Joo needs the sticks himself. The joke is in the experience, esp. for people who have small hands or had to learn these pieces as children. The average piano player has no problem playing chords that stretch across an octave, but for people, such as myself. who truly have small hands (I'm an adult and my hands are as small as a 10 year old child's, with relatively short fingers), the idea of the sticks is absolutely hilarious. Idk, I just found your comment pompous.

  • @mynvision No, I get the joke, don't get me wrong. I saw this a few years ago and thought it was hilarious. It's still a really funny idea, I know there's a ton of pieces I'd love to have these sticks for, it just ruins the effect a little bit for me when there's the build up of 'big hands' and the joke of having such big chords, when I know now that the chords aren't too difficult to play. If that's pompous then... eh, I don't mind, I've been called worse. :P

  • @aquaticstone I apologize for the "pompous" remark...your comment had just rubbed me the wrong way, perhaps due to the fact that this comedy piece means a bit to me. There are so many piano works out there I would love to play, in fact, am able to play up until I reach the chords that require sticks. Sometimes, in a piece, there is only one or two chords like that...very frustrating...and I've had to create "cheats" to fake the chords. : )

  • EPIC WIN, EPIC FU**ED THE PIANO IMPOSSIBILTY!!!! GREAT JOB, GREAT AMAZING JOB!

  • this kind of people really know music.........

  • The song is call Prelude in C-Sharp Minor, Op 3, No. 2

thumbs up so everyone can see this

  • @nelsland There's no song.That we can hear.

  • @aeon2805 yes, technically, its music, i get it

  • @nelsland Thx a lot :D

  • @nelsland

    Song

    No singing

    Oh dear...

  • @nelsland This is not a "song."

  • This made me crease. I love the commentary at the start.

  • :( ...i don't like..

  • @ThesimpleSoldier well you're a retard then

  • Fantastic really Fantastic :)

  • super

  • I love Rachmaninov and I found this in very good taste! :))

  • But only hands small!

  • If you noticed..he keeps giving him the same piece of wood back at first. But still...EPIC!

  • @DjOpticker Same chords, same piece of wood... simple! XDDD

  • Excellent

  • thats funny, cus i can play that song^^

  • Somewhat amusing. Somewhat.

  • how troll

  • Very nice, not extremely funny for me, but funny enough, and well done.

  • Rachmaninov's height was 198 cm, so you can imagine his hands.

  • "But only hands small !"

    Amazing !

  • PERFECT !!!

    MICHAEL THE GREEK.

Ihope you ask to perform PIANO SONATA in 12 tone.

  • AWESOME! So creative, lol

    -keith

  • hahahaha nice

  • those things r the best inventions ever

  • 259 people have big hands

  • @DhorianGray LOOOL

  • I learned this piece years ago. It's one of those that I loved and demanded of my piano teacher. She got me the sheet music and I remember my first shock with the double staffing because all the notes wouldn't fit on a regular staff! I have small hands, but had a great stretch (if I worked at it I could do an octave +2), but this piece was certainly a workout! Their solution is bloody brilliant!
