Their actual musical style is way closer to punk than metal... especially the lyrics and guitar. Listen to Resilience or Agnostic Front... they sound like a sinergy of those bands.

If you want real "classical" metal then you need look no further than Iron Maiden or Metallica. These guys are just goofing around in costumes and having a good time but they're not great at making metal by a long shot.

You are really missing the point here. GWAR is a form of entertainment. GWAR puts on a performance much like a play or a movie. That is ALL it is. You can never fully understand it until you go see them. I have seen them a few times and nobody there is angry or violent. Everyone is there to have a good time. I have seen many younger fans there with their parents too. It is a safe environment and is a lot better than doing drugs or engaging in criminal activity. I see nothing "evil" about that.
