@ZF911 works on both, while playing, open the console with ~ and type "record *name*" without the quotes. to playback your demo, open the console in the main menu and type "playdemo *name*" and finally while you're watching the demo, press Shift-f2 for controls. Use thirdpersonshoulder for Left 4 dead 2.

hey i noticed around 0:32 that you scaled the wall pretty quickly, asin the timings between walljumps were quick and rapid. in these cases did you press s and a/d or simply just a/d using mouselook?

The former. Most (not all) of the single-wall jumping done in this video was using S combined with A/D. It's certainly a very quick way to scale walls^

The maps aren't that different - from looking at Eclipse's excellent 3:20 run of B3, I would estimate that the B3 version adds ROUGHLY 5 seconds to your time:

+4 secs start

+5 secs water tower area (0:21)

+2 secs underpass/bridge (0:54)

+2 secs end buildings (3:01)

- 8 secs timer stops at crane, not survivor death (3:13)

Usually yes - releasing them gives you greater air control. Remember to press crouch again just before you hit the ground though, so that you can pounce again immediately.

@ebaums: I would suggest having a little practice using: host_timescale 0.6 (or whichever number you fancy). This will put the game in slow-motion (60% of normal).

The "sweetspot" for all one-wall techniques is the same: it's the closest angle you can aim to the wall and still be allowed to wall-jump off (around 20 degrees).

Got the hang of it now :D Thanks. It's a shame I can't get hunter city to work. I've tried b1, b2 and b3, yet upon setting up the map I receive a "map is unplayable" error. I'm stuck as a survivor in a cage.

I can't "m" over to the infected team, the menu won't even come up. Total bummer.

Ignore the error message, spawn an infected in the cage with you (z_spawn boomer), then you will be able to switch teams. You can actually just be patient and wait ~30 secs and you'll be able to switch.

Now in ghost mode, enter into console z_spawn hunter (aiming where you want to spawn)

The problem is that it would be very difficult to remove the ability to do certain one-wall jumping techniques without breaking other aspects of hunter play in the process.

It's fairly irrelevant though, as hunters being able to "wallwalk" doesn't imbalance versus play- so there's no real reason to remove it.

The easiest method is to hold backwards (pure vertical) or hold backwards AND left/right (diagonal). Hold those buttons down, aim about 20 degrees away from your wall, and spam pounce.

The other method is to just curve back into the wall with left/right, and pounce off again.

Your run was pretty much flawed by tiny, little hiccups in various spots that would earn you an extra second. My run was on a demo but got screwed because of the Steam patch so I guess my proof is void as of now.

This is on version B1 of the map, which doesn't include the start box. While the built-in timer of b3 IS nice, I don't like the changes the guy made to the map - he removed a number of "shortcuts" which required good skill to be able to take advantage of.

As such, I find the old version more interesting to play :)
