  • Will it drift? That is the question.

  • 1) 0-60 in 3.9 seconds (3.7 if it were a sport model) not 5.0 seconds!

    2) No power sources in the 'middle of nowhere?' Hmmm, wonder what is powering the lights on the house in the background? What I don't see in the background is a gas station!

    3) From empty to full charge in as little as 3 hours & with CHadeMo could be 40 minutes!

  • i can drift a bicycle on wet roads

  • you call this drift? man you are too funny hahaha

  • Want to see that lift from 0:05 :D

  • dude this vids suck

  • 16 hours to charge?! wth get your info right!

  • 5.0? Got something wrong here

  • The 0-60 time is 3.9 (4) seconds, not 5. Get the facts straight.

  • @seanrquinn Ever seen one do it? I can claim a pushbike can do it it 2 secs but that doesn't make it true. Best tested time for that model tesla is 5.0secs.

  • @hunghuge12 Yes I have. With proper tires and the traction control set up for those tires, I have seen one do it pretty easily, I know someone who owns one and have driven it myself.

  • @seanrquinn I wasn't talking about drag tyres or aftermarket traction control. The claims are as it comes out of the box. You haven't seen one do it pretty easily at all. I've run track experience days for a number of years now and been involved in a lot of testing days too. On the standard tyres and set up 5.0s sounds about right. You might drop that to around 4.8s on a good day with a good surface. 3.9 is pure bullshit for the standard car.

  • @hunghuge12 Neither was I, I was referring to the summer (practically track) tires that the car is offered with.

No more troll feeding for me today.

  • @seanrquinn Show us the proof then. I've never seen it or heard of it so go ahead and post the link. I won't hold my breath.

  • @hunghuge12 trollololololololololololololol

fagget fagget fagget tesla can do it in 3 seconds, which is slower than you, you get from 0-60 in 2. I'm sure all the ladies are very disappointed.

  • @seanrquinn What the fuck is the matter with you? Are you 12 or just a stupid pikey? You post bullshit, can't prove it (because it's bullshit) then put this crap on? Grow up.

  • my ford escort field car can do that.

with those specs, this car should be far capable of more.

maybe he actually charged the "laptop battery" with a whirly-gig, solar iphone charger and an ohm meter plugged into a potato?

...not sure how such ignorant people get the opportunities to review such incredible cars.

  • WTF I can drift my GMC Envoy on wet pavement. true story

  • theres no engine roar, feels like driving Need For Speed. Hahaaha

  • BUTTTT will it blend?

  • This show is nowhere as fun as Will it Blend?

  • Comment removed

  • REAL AutoCar Testers use Helmets....

  •

  • When will you guys drift on dry ground??

  • you want to see drift?? watch fast & furious tokyo drift

  • Stupid car.

  • @TheOneNo20 Stupid you.

  • @toyotaprius79 A well formulated and perceptive comment. Your parents must be very proud to a literary master in the family...(that's called sarcasm dickhead, look it up in what's called a "dictionary")

  • @TheOneNo20 It's called sarcasm *dick head

  • @toyotaprius79 I don't see how. I think you must have your own special definition of the word. Because you are special. You're a special little boy and we're all so very proud of you using your big words. Well done. THAT is sarcasm dickhead.

  • @TheOneNo20 What a kickass reponse lol.

  • this guy looks like william shatner

  • This guy can't drift! I seen a few of his vids and they have all been on wet pavement... I can drift a tiny moped or pocket bike on wet roads...

  • @Gflo79 that's because he lives in UK ;)

  • @Gflo79 its not that it takes too much more skill too drift on dry pavement its just that if the car doesnt have enough power then it just isnt so for it to drift on dry pavement therefore he still gives us a great show and just drifts the cars on wet pavement

  • The Answer Is Always YES

  • drift to sleep

  • 5.0 seconds? Was the 3.7 second version not out when this was made?

  • Video caption should be "Foreign idiot tries to impress american teenagers circa 2006 by sliding expensive car on wet pavement"

  • It drifts because its on wet pavement, the question is will a tesla roadster drift.yo any car can drift if its on wet pavement! what couldent!

  • NOT DRIFT Btch

  • thats not drifting thats sliding,

  • the only good electric car

  • @MsCrappants False the tesla model s is amazing

  • @troyi290 i did say its amazing best electric car ever is this

  • god damn they got the specs wrong!

  • 16 hours to charge my nuts, you can do it in 45 minutes... who is this guy?

  • its 0-60 under 4 seconds dumbass, do your homework the model S is already at 5.6, the roadster is 3.9

  • its 0-60 under 4 seconds dumbass, do your homewor

  • TESLA is badass

  • did he even use the handbrake?

  • My testicles also drift !!

  • these people do not realise anything can drift on a wet track!

  • there is so much wrong information in this video. first of all 0-60 takes 3.9 secs, not 5 (actually 0-100 km/h is 3.9, therefore 0-60 would be even less)! then the battery recharge time, yes it is 16 hours if you charge it through an ordinary 230V plugin, but the cable he's showing does 80% charge in 45 minutes

  • My moms BMW can go 160mph

  • @CokeAndPizzaplz That car hits 130mph in few seconds, your moms car hits 160mph in hours

  • @CaioSDMF Moms car is Bmw 328xi 2008

  • @CokeAndPizzaplz Is a great car, but the tesla would rape you in any race :)

  • such a fail vid, my mums FWD people mover drifts/slides in the wet.

  • the 2008-present Tesla Roadster is assembled in

    Hethel, Norfolk, England

    Menlo Park, California, USA

  • since when were drift and hydroplane the same thing?

  • What a boring bastard, this guy presents like a 6th Form media studies student. He makes me feel really self concious.

  • i have never seen such a blending of action and boring before

  • The Tesla Roadster's not the first electric sports car, the Venturi Fétish is. Is it really so hard to do some basic fact checking?

  • What a fantastic car

  • ecco come anche i coglioni diverrono grandi drifter muhhaaha che schifo

  • honestly, with how much energy it takes to make one of these go, and how often it will have to be charged, and considering where most of this energy comes from (fossil fuels), it's not much more efficient than any gas powered car like a lotus(using lotus because for a nice sports car, it's efficient). Tesla may be the 'new wave' once they invent a better battery.

  • @EvansCantStop The Tesla Roadster has a 245 mile claimed range but in practice is closer to 200 hundred. In the UK at least, the majority of electricity is generated by gas turbines (please note; gas not 'gasoline') which is cleaner burning and more efficient than an internal combustion engine. The Tesla Roadster is considerably more efficient in that sense.

    Also, it's a great big gadget :D

  • its not tezla its tesla noob

  • Comment removed

  • @Armaangandevia1 sorry i meant to say

    ITS TESLA NOT TEZLA NOOBS

PS. I have met the ceo of tesla so i know how to say it

  • it can not drift IT CAN POWER SLIDE

THUMPS THIS UP SO EVERY ONE CAN KNOW pweeze

  • that´s powerslide fucking idiot!!

  • i can drift a bicycle on wet tarmac, so of course an electric car with 250hp will

  • I say these cars are the wave of the future. In 10 years we will see so many electric cars on the road it will be a totally normal thing. I cannot wait to buy my first electric car and never have to worry about oil changes, or radiator fluid, or trans fluid, or headgaskets, or bad bearings or, and most imoprtantly, no more gas.

  • @VgAce135 Yes! These cars have only a dozen of moving parts so it probably will rarely break!

  • the real question is: will it bend

  • Can our legs drift?

  • @Adrianwesker Mine did last winter. I've got a titanium plate on my ankle now.

  • But will it blend?

  • jep ... wet tarmac ... it's stating the obvious ... The more interesting question is, if this sorry excuse of a car show presenter has actually managed to find a car that will not drift :D

  • every vid. iv seen so far has been on a wet track. just about anything can get sideways on a wet track if you just whip it hard enough and punch the gas. not to mention all the automatic transmission. sorry just a little boring for my taste haha kool vids tho... i guess. =)

  • autocars road testers have no charisma and bore the shit out of me

  • @racer17551 its called being british.

  • @DRIFTKANGG

    Jeremy clarkson.

  • @racer17551 touche'

  • @racer17551 I guess your knid of right. The only one which i like is Steve sutcliffe

  • @racer17551 agreed it would help if he had a friend

  • @racer17551 yeah, needs more topgear comedy. but topgear needs more study...

  • the real question is why am I watching this shit at 3am?

  • Anything with a bit of power, rear wheel drive will drift on wet tarmac..

  • This guy is an idiot. He has all of the facts wrong!

  • Anything will drift on a wet track...

  • will it drift no cause that aint drifting the battery is in the back of course its gonna stay out

  • For £100,000 I'd expect it to do pretty much everything. Still, it takes so long to charge that it's really only a toy. Helluva ride though.

  • But will it blend?

  • @Bertziethegreat Yes, but it does it more silently than the other sports cars.

  • this thing sounds insane omg

  • anything will drift on wet pavement so how does this even exist it's self explanitory

  • what do u expect its on wet pavement

  • why the hell would you see if it will drift? it depends on the tires you use. AND WTF DOES WILL IT DRIFT ACTUALLY MEAN? what u wanna flying car? i dont get this.

  • i don't like the way he talk about EV... "you can't charge it in the middle of no-where (showing i-pod charger and a potato)"... Yo dude, can you pump and rafine raw fuel with a straw and a tampon if you're stuck in the middle of no-where with an "normal" car?! BTW for a first gen of electric (commercial) dragsters it already better then good, + better batteries will come up real soon

  • this guy is a noob :/

  • Jeremy Clarkson wannabe :P

  • 0:02 now that is beautiful

  • anything will drift if you oversteer it on a wet ass track.. lol

  • it wont drift well cuz its got such a heavy ass

  • But, will it blend

  • I dont like how he makes the electric sounds like BS ie, the solar phone charger and such/ i think hes using the old version of the car, as said by Blitxzar, the new versions dont have any such problems.

  • lol, that's not real drifting, my opel astra can do this even its a ff car..

  • What is next? To see if a car can do a burnout on ice?

  • But will it blend

  • That was incredibly lame and uninformative. My very first ever dislike.

  • but....will it blend?

  • why dont u try on dry ? wet land ...........well any car can do that i guess

  • @sfcc80 yea just about any rear wheel car can drift on wet tarmac, ive drifted my 01 montero sport on wet tarmac

  • Tesla roadster is not the first all electric sports car.

  • but will it blend?

  • lol the tesla in 2009 go from 0 to 60 in 5 sec

today's tesla goes from 0 to 60 in 3.7 sec

  • Every Tesla owner gets a home charger that charges the Tesla from empty in 4 hours. Then again, with a whole 245 miles of range, it will never have to be charged from empty, unless you decide to try a long trip. The average distance driven everyday is 35 miles. Two hundred mile trips are not done very often; then again, it could do them. Tesla owners pretty much never have to use their mobile 220V charger, and certainly not the 120V emergency charger. Running out of juice is only for the stupid.

  • Embarassing, get your facts right you british boner.

  • What a shame the figures were so out at 0:55. Could have been a great video, but the 0-100 time is very important to many people.

  • booooooooooooooooooring

  • umm, it kinda does drift but not that well, but i can drift a civic on a wet road like that whats thepoint?

  • you can drift a bicycle on that wet track. such pointless videos

  • why wouldent it drift?

  • @PolishCutie93 It doesn't drift well because it has a gigantic battery pack sitting almost on top of the rear wheels.

  • My scooter can drift on a wet road. Big deal.

  • Jeremy Clarkson wannabe. still, I'd do it if I had the oppertunity. I wouldn't be a knob head about it like this guy, though.

  • i could drift a wheelchair in that rain

  • Damn that was dumb,I also guess you video gear runs on gas.

  • they keep saying the Tesla is not cheap at ninety thousand pounds. As compared to what, the porsche? The porsche costs more they almost all do. So why are they comparing the prices of the tesla roadster to a family car. Compared to other roadsters it is a fair price to pay for an innovative machine. and it is faster.

  • @armeniantamara it is NOT faster than a porsche!!

  • @mrdoominik it may not be able to hit the same top speeds as Porsche cars, but it can accelerate faster than any other Porsche in that price range. 125mph is fast enough.

  • @GamePyro when u look at "armeniantamaras" comment u can cclearly see that he states that its faster than any porsche.... But u are right when u state that a porsche in that price-class is slower :P

but a 911 gt2 rs woulkd kill the tesla, then again its alot more expensive

  • @mrdoominik Perhaps not faster than a porsche, with its electronically limited top speed, but certainly quicker. Multiple vids prove this.

  • anything will drift on wet ground going fast enouph fuck head

  • But will it drift on horse shit? That is the question!

  • 0-60 is done in 3.9 seconds! not 5!

  • Anything with rear wheel drive will drift on wet asphalt. Do a real test!

  • The most importantly, will it blend?

  • the question, will it drift. Answer to me: No it will slide sideways for about .5 seconds though. I want to see a full circle sideways before you can call that a drift....

  • Comment removed

  • wet, slippery and smooth road ... Duh! ... nearly anything can drift there. At least make it a dry road road (with 0 water).

  • But will it blend? that is the question.

  • What's the song at 2:15 called?

  • fuck off ad.

  • this stinks... who in the earth cares??

  • the real question is,will it blend?

  • EVERY CAR DRIFTS EXCEPT FOR THE ONES THAT HAS A NORMAL HEIGHT OF A PRIVATE CAR AND LENGTH OF A PRIVATE CAR. AND DUDES! THE WET TRACK IS FOR SAFETY IF IT WON'T DRIFT AND THE WHEELS GOT RIPPED IT WON'T FLIP AND GO BOOM INSTEAD IT WIll JUST SLIDE WHICH IS NOT DRIFTING! Whew

  • You can't drift a front wheel drive car. PERIOD. Even on a wet road, all you get is a the back end to step out a little bit. A drift is by actually holding the throttle to force the wheels to spin and holding the slide around a corner. Having the back end step out a little bit IS NOT DRIFTING.

  • wat

16 hrs? didn't the testla motors letter said 4rhs?

  • @Tamonduando

    Yes 3.5 to 4.0 hrs... with a quick charge pack... 240V 6 - 8 hrs ... regular socket 12 - 16 hrs...

  • @sektore01

    240V IS a regular socket

    lol jk

I see now, but 300km ain't too bad, is it?

  • @Tamonduando , for a sports car i don't know about that... if your drive it normally with in the speed limit i would say yeah its fine... but to drive it harshly like a real racing driver, i would say no.... thats why im look forward on the Model S... its range is 300 miles ( depending on terrain and weather condition ), my normal drive is in 3 -4 days i hit the 300 mile mark just to be safe i aim for 250 mile.

  • @Tamonduando Is 8hrs in a normal 230v socket (charge it at night drive at day) and 3.5 hours in a Tesla Motors charger that you can install on your house.

  • Will it drift is not the question but..

    Will it blend?

  • Kudos to the chumps at Tesla for taking the petty route, bringing a suit against Top Gear for what THEY consider libel. The most ironic part is that this ridiculous accusation demeans their name more than Top Gear ever could have. Google "Tesla Top Gear libel" and find Top Gear's response for the real story

  • @toleratetruth Top Gear has been spewing out biased and malicious bullshit about perfectly good cars for years now. It was only a matter of time before a car company got fed up.. Plus they were forced to take the "petty route" after they were repeatedly ignored by the BBC for two years, bringing in a law suit was the only way to get the BBC to respond.

  • @petbedding01 First of all, Top Gear is a show about performance FIRST, and the Tesla did NOT meet some very critical performance parameters, by the admission of Tesla's own engineers. Although it was lauded for the things it did well--namely acceleration--other factors made it uncompetitive. Secondly, if a car company gets "fed up," they are free to withhold their vehicle from testing on the most popular automotive show in history. Malicious? Maybe toward the Morris Marina. lol

  • @toleratetruth A don't know of any law suit against Top Gear from Tesla (i don't follow that show) but it add legitimate reasons to complain about the way Top Gear "reviewed" the Tesla Roadster, a simple brake light comes up and they shout "The Brakes Failed!" has if the car had become without brakes, second they showed the car come to a dead stop has if the battery add run out and pushed the car by hand to the garage...

  • @Argoon1981 when Tesla tested the battery it was a 20º and very capable of driving to the garage, when they confronted Top Gear about this they said they were "simulating" what would happen if the car was without juice. This was a perfect example of a car show trying hard to make a car they don't like (because of being electric) to look bad.

  • @Argoon1981 , yes they took dramatic license with obvious flaws in the design of the vehicle--flaws that they felt should have been pointed out in a dramatic fashion. They didn't fabricate the overheating or long charge times, the high price or the time it spent in the garage. You may want to check into the fact that Tesla's own men felt that it needed to spend time in the garage, not Top Gear. Read into the response of the show's producer, then respond. It may be a better car NOW, but...

  • @toleratetruth I don't know of any overheating problems and i follow the Tesla Roadster news very often here on youtube and on the Tesla forum. About the long charge time that is not a flaw of the car but a flaw of the tech, electric batteries take time to charge, and is possible to charge the Tesla fully in 3.5 hours with the TM especial charger, the high price is expected in a new tech like this, because the lithium ion batteries are very expensive, and the Tesla is a super car.

  • Can i get mine with a built in Tesla Cannon?

  • The real question is: Will a Nissan Leaf drift?

  • @NintendoGuy99 More importantly, will it get you hot women? Doubt it

  • @NintendoGuy99 . A nissan leaf would drift or do just about anything if you put 65 thousand more dollars into it. You are comparing apples to oranges. Yet again a really stupid question!!!!

  • @NintendoGuy99 i doubt it!

  • awesome show

  • a can of dogfood will drift in a puddle

  • Never would buy a car like this...this is only for those "green" people who do not understand anything about cars...and the energy that this car uses is comparable to a Ferrari with a V8!

  • @on91 Its about where the energy comes from. Its not about "who understands cars."

  • 3.5 hour recharge on a 24o volt (a.k.a. appliance) outlet. Same thing American's use to run their washers and dryers.
