  • Twirl, twirl, power.

    I like this

  • "Mox News - unfair and biased"

  • Faster blade speed=more dead birds. The best way to improve wind power yields remains getting winds from taller towers with more swept area.

  • 3.25 in this video the motion of the sea SHOULD ALSO BE USED TO GENERATE POWER

  • Cool man, I'm all for it. As long as a big wave doesn't hit it, it sounds like a good idea.

  • maybe the 'fishing ground' in the hexagon shape mentioned could be a sustainable fishery. A FISH FARM have a look on you tube for THE END OF THE LINE - FISH FARMING.

  • Ugly or not I would rather have one in my backyard then dirty fracking (out if sight )chemicals under my feet

  • WORLD RECORD: BIGGEST WIND TURBINE

    Visit: windturbinecarriedbywheels.weebly.com

ZERO-NOISE from gears and generators since they are sealed underground.

SAVES THE BIRDS AND BATS since slow-moving.

DOES NOT OCCUPY A WIDER LANDSCAPE since the turbine can be very tall.

MAY BE LOWER-COST since it may use timber and other cheaper things.

ELUDES HURRICANE FORCE since the V-type foldable blades automatically close.

    NO FIRE since well-cooled.

HELPS WIND-ENERGY COMPANIES since it is FREE FOR ALL.

  • This may also help to keep birds from being hit by the blades, because they are more likely to see it and go around it, especially if it has a ring of LEDs on it which light up at night. Great invention. I hope no one is still saying that Japan can't come up with new ideas. They were also the first to market hybrid electric cars.

  • this is wonderful news! putting this in my fav's!!

  • why not using some remote island... I knew that there is some who are not occupied or deserted... this will maybe accelerate this project

  • The POWER OF SOCIALISM. SO YOU NEOCONS SEE SOCIALISM BRINGS GREATNESS. SOCIALISM IS NOT COMMUNISM! Don't confuse both economic conditions.

  • I'm wondering also with the larger versions because of the ring support to the blades, would that mean also, lighter more efficient blade systems?

  • Interesting for sure, but if any company decided to install them anywhere near me I would blow the ugly things up!

Defiantly should be installed offshore they are an eye sore!

  • Thinking outside the box. Very good job

  • heppolt wind turbine will work better for japan and its time to act

  • nice diffuser but what about noice?

  • This in not a new design. It's usually referred as ducted rotor wind turbines. It's hardly an advantage for commercial turbines because the duct is quite heavy. One of the main factor the can enhance the effectiveness of a wind turbine is the swept area so we want the rotors to be as long as possible. Rotors are not gonna be nearly as long if we have to duct them and at the end the result is not as cost effective. Ducted turbines are only good if you need a more compact design.

  • @Tamizushi The you obviously were not listening to the video.

  • @TheKrensada No, I was listening to the video, but I'm contradicting it with a few easy-to-check facts. You should look it up.

  • Great

  • Tangrams!

  • i want to know if this would still work in hurricanes? there have been 15 hurricanes this year so far already.

  • Okay. Here is a practical question. When will these be commercially available?

  • Get all the whores to big oil out of office now

  • .sdfsdf

  • Would be nice if Americans would adapt these types of wind power. They could easily become competitive in the economy here in the US.

They are cheeper then nuclear power.

    We need the political will.

  • Amazing, why arn't we in the US using this?

Oh yea we lack the political will.

  • ...a nucular power plant?

  • I have wind turbine design that generates 50 times more power than this Japanese improved version however no one is interested because the established industry do not like new ideas as it threatens their *Authority*.

  • @MotionArtist3D

    Thank you for your B.S.

  • @EastenNinja We can use the bullshit as fuel!

  • Best progress since the original windmill!! Excellent news!! Makes me believe a little bit that this world isnt just fucked!

  • it's funny all you people who doubt this is possible. since it's inception nuclear power has been nothing but an accident waiting to happen, then there is the question of spent fuel. coal power stations have done nothing but pollute the planet. do you not think that these guys have done their research? do you not believe it possible for machines that don't break to be made? remember we base our comments on the current throw-away, built in obsolescence society. ever owned a toyota? on and on....

  • i favorited, but I don't believe in it. Germany says the lights might go out soon cuz they went with wind instead of nuke and coal.

  • what are you guys waiting for, go out and build these new type of wind turbine, we need them urgently! domo arigato-sama

  • One tsunami will destroy them in one second.

  • @mephesh not if they are out at sea, the wave will go underneath them, tsunami makes damage where the wave breaks.

  • @boredofbaloney Thanks for replying to my comment, and yes very good reply. I admire your good sense of reasoning and appreciate that you did not abuse me with aweful insulting language. I reread my comment and it makes me look like a dumb twat hahahha :)

  • Yes yes, all wonderful, but yet to be answered is this. Where does the reserve power come from when the wind decides all of a sudden to stop blowing? Guess what you need to keep the grid stable. That's right, big power plants, nuclear or fossil. Oh yes and another thing, since the wind turbine goes 3 times as fast, that means at least 2 things, gearbox kabooms and frequency is determined by speed and thats 60 Hz. Nobody smart enough to notice these "small" details?

  • RIP General Electric

  • Was it me or did it look like they were putting the wind lens on backwards?

  • Moxnews?? LOOOOL

  • @LookMaNoBrains ye my thoughts exactly. do u know what they're about?

  • generators can be made to double their out put[ oil company do not want you to know it ]. a little windmill could be 6 times more energy out put a wind mill of to day think about it .$1000.00 to $2500.00 windmill could power your home . yes i know how to make the GOD2X generators

  • Sure. Looks great until you see a Bald Eagle, Falcon, or Hawk fly into the blades and get shredded into a million pieces. Nice work Moron's.

  • @MrTruthBeTold51 Are you seriously calling an advancement in wind tech moronic cause it poses a danger to birds? When was the last time any advancement of humankind at all didn't pose a danger to animals? The place you live was once forested and probably a couple dozen bird nests were destroyed on the deforestation process. Nice work moron. What's your car run on, Petroleum? What about all the marine life killed in the last oil spill? Sure it was an accident, but so would be any killed birds.

  • @Kossimer Have you ever seen the windmills in the Palm Springs, CA area? Interesting how one is spinning like crazy, yet the one next to it is doing nothing? Hmmm, could that mean an engine is actually spinning the one that is moving to give the illusion that wind is causing the motion? What about your precious solar company called Solyndra in California? The one Obama did a press junket at and gave millions of tax payer dollars to? They went BANKRUPT!!! What a surprise? Yes; moron's.

  • @Kossimer As far as the Gulf oil spill is concerned, there is enough oil in Alaska that we would never need another drop of foreign oil again. So why does Obama allow drilling out at sea, but not on dry land? Out of sight out mind? That nonsensical reasoning is not only inaccurate, it is intellectually lazy. If you'll excuse me, I have to fill up my Lincoln Navigator, and I have my eyes on a new one. No spineless, liberal, coward is going to tell me what to drive. Don't like it? Try taking it.

  • @MrTruthBeTold51 Everyone knows that burning oil is dirty, all controversy aside about how much, where, and what the dirt is made of. Knowing that doesn't make me liberal, and if wind can be made to work, great. I didn't say anything about our quantity of oil. I also didn't tell you what to drive, I drive a car too. Its necessary where we live. Just saying that you shouldn't have a selective memory when criticizing tech with way less of an impact than the alternative. Btw Oil is finite.

  • @Kossimer T. Boone Pickens spent over 1.2 Billion Dollars of his OWN money attempting to make wind and solar energy viable. His conclusion? It will not work with present demand, and could never catch up with rising demand. You would rather disrupt, and control the lives of others, while simultaneously destroying local economies by blocking U.S. oil exploration and sending jobs to your ideological hero's; China.

  • @Kossimer Did you know that fluorescent light bulbs CANNOT be manufactured in the U.S. by law? Look at any box of them. "Made in China". Hmmmm, What's the message there?

  • uhhh... since they build these in the ocean - isn't this going to be at bigger risk of being damaged by a Tsunami?

I mean when that nuclear plant was knocked out, it was a huge blackout. If these turbines go out, the blackouts are going to be bigger. No?

  • What about the Honeywell wind turbine...?! Is this turbine better than Honeywell's??!

I ask anyone with useful knowledge on that to answer me...

I don't own any,and don't know much on there specifications, but I'm interested to know the better to enhance my project for college.

    PLEASE REPLAY

  • @eternal989 Honeywell? With its name on it, it would be a weak or mid efficient wind turbine at best, just so they can make the money.

  • @ironwork92000 YEAH, u know what your talking about... Go continue your "drink", well ya!

  • Give this man a Nobel prize!!!

  • Why can't I find this in the nhk news headline history?

  • Muito boa noticia.

  • Need is mother of invention and this video is example of that.

  • They are worried about the cost of a few metal rotating parts. When nuclear costs so much to build and maintain, not to mention its deadly when accidents happen.

  • lol they didn't just came up with it after the earthquake, the preliminary designs and papers were written about this years ago.

  • Hexagonal shape? CIV 5 DLC TILE IMPROVEMENT ANYONE?

  • Fuck yes Japan!

  • So I wanna know. Did the big shell design from metal gear solid 2 have anything to do with the water platforms?

  • @jake48052 They're using ur mom as a platform

  • THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ASIANS PUT THEIR MIND TO ANYTHING. FUCK.

  • @Vinc3ntPh4m You ain't seen nothin' yet! Wait until the West is done falling apart. Asians will rule the world.

  • @Vinc3ntPh4m well lokk at heppolt this is USA STRONGER WINDTURBINE BOWERAUTBUD STRONGER AND THIS DESIGN IS A OLD DESIGN

  • @Vinc3ntPh4m Probably because they went to school, studied science and technology, learned that "creationism" isn't really science, and instead of praying 5 time a day for crap to happen, they spent their time doing something productive and figured out the problem. Here in the USA our young people seem to be focused on anything but learning and creating. It is a far cry from when I grew up during our Space Race.

  • @cggage Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realise people are taking me seriously and that this is in fact a science vs religion debate. My bad.

  • @Vinc3ntPh4m No, my fault. My apologies. I get frustrated when I see the lack of innovation and even interest by some young people in creating something new. We used to lead by innovation, new ideas, and were the envy of the world. We still could be but the "backyard inventors" seem to be few and far between. Even Apple computer started in a garage by two guys. Where are the garage inventors today? Instead, we seem to be regressing. Very disappointing.

  • @cggage I can understand what you mean. However, even if the US is not leading with large scale advances like the space race I am still glad when I see wonderful inventions like these show up, developed by talented people no matter where in the world.

  • @Vinc3ntPh4m Yes, I agree. It does seem to be somewhat of a collaborative effort. That is, the maglev in Shanghai really is the German system although the Chinese are working on their own design. The iPhone is designed in the USA and built in China. This wind turbine "lens" is a great idea. I want to put up a turbine on my farm in Maine but I'd like something innovative. This design is in contention. It was done at a University in Japan. We should be funding our Univ's similarly.

  • @Vinc3ntPh4m I guess what also bothers me is that our Congress (and other political leaders) just fail to see success and copy it. When I see something successful, I do not begrudge that person their success - I want to know how I can learn from it. Why the US officials cannot see success in investment by other countries is beyond me. Instead, they want to stop everything just to pay down the debt but to me this is just crippling innovation & thus new jobs for the 21st century (vs. the 19th).

  • @cggage chek [HEPPOLT TURBINE] MAT USA

  • @Vinc3ntPh4m kook at heppolt USA kiks as agin

  • Unfair AND biased!

  • Gonna be an awesome future. Electric cars sound even more viable!

  • haha, how the hell could something so simple have just been discovered

  • My god... they call this innovation? These ideas are around for decades already. The problem is manufacturing related. Try building these things for rotors having a diameter of 50 meter... or 100 m ... or 128 m. Once this can be realized, then we can start talking about efficiency.

  • @bbeirinckx

also there is the matter of shading, these will kill farms as they're know, distance between turbines will double or triple.

also, wind is unreliable, if it blows to strong power is lost, if to soft it won't rotate the blades properly, the modulating energy caps output to it's lowest possible.

there should be a hibrid sistem, that would create and store hidrogen for oxy combustion

  • Oil and mining companies want to destroy this technology and keep us enslaved to their dirty old 19th century tech.

  • Everything can be fixed with circles

  • @kidd20grams AND hexagons!

  • This is not a new idea. Just search for "ducted rotor wind" on google and you will find plenty of similar models.

  • Japans wind turbines were unaffected by the tsunami and the earthquake.

  • there are so many innovations that could have came up much earlier if oil has not been so pushed by the oil companies

  • These new wind turbines will hit American shores sometime in the year 2050! SMH

  • Those Japanese are weird as .... , wanting to get it on with robots, and going to a concert of cartoons, and computer generated pop stars, but these guys are smart, they are truely the leaders in technological inovation for sure.

    The future gets there first.

  • Blade is gonna fall of and kill someone.... then people are gonna blame all wind turbines.... thus is the human condition... xD

  • Common, a brim? This donut thing makes all the difference? Really?

  • @lestliness ..shut up retard.

  • We can't even run the wind turbines we have at full power because if we did, they would decimate bird populations. This advancement is useless without solving that problem, first.

  • @MOXNEWSd0tCOM thanks for NHK item's ...

  • This is amazing.

  • great idea but what happens when there is another tsunami?

  • sweet and i love it how simple it is!

  • The Japanese need to work on wave power.. the entire nation is a island surrounded by powerful waves.

  • mainstream tech is 50 + years behind black ops tech

  • @nephozo Really? How do you know that?

  • Some oil-owned Republicunt is already hard at work writing a bill to ban this technology in America.

When dumbass GOPers say socialism inhibits innovation, point to Japan and tell them to shut their hole. (I know Japan is more of a mixed enconomy but by the current RW standard it's hardcore socialist.)

  • anyone who has ever been around oil or the people that deal in it knows they are a slick bunch and self preservation is what they have in mind for themselves; as always.

  • Soon we will finally have many tech that produce clean cheap abundant energy but "money/market" is ROOT of problems, how do we:

    1. stop corruption caused by profit motive?

    2. ensure everyone has minimum necessities?

    ANSWER

    1. FREELY Share ALL resources & knowledge worldwide, NO more money/property

    2. Use LATEST technology to create an ABUNDANCE of all our needs, NO more waste/theft

    3. Automate/localize ALL production and distribution, NO more central control/wage slavery

    v=4Z9WVZddH9w

  • Oh no! Renewable energy! The RepubliCAN'Ts will hate the shit out of this!

  • so dam simple yet so effective...

  • Comment removed

  • Like I've said take big corperations & lobbiest out of the way & watch renewable energy inovation take off. If ANY good came out of the Japanese nuclear disaster it showed the world being complicent, short cuts & lack of common sence in dealing with nuclear power is foolish. I'm glad the Japanese along with all thier wonderful engineers are NOW set loose to bring the rest of the world into the 21st century. Too bad America once again is the engineering LOSER of the world thanks to BIG OIL.

  • Vote Green 2012

  • @LiberalJerseyman Yes...Vote Obama 2012!!

  • @Viracocha711 No way jose

  • This sure is a better approach for energy than going to war to keep the petroleum flowing to the U.S.

  • lol we should of had this tech 10 years ago considering how simple it is compared to nuclear..

  • @ISellSigals It would work even better in conjunction with nuclear power. I know it's hard to take this point of view atm, but nuclear power is only bad if we set it up wrong. The USN has NEVER had an accident, because they set it up correctly. They'll promote wind energy because it's less efficient and doesn't threaten the oil business.

  • @ISellSigals Nuclear is the cleanest and most efficient energy source we have.

  • Japanese are Awesome People!

  • Careful.. Big oil will put a hit out on you.

  • These are the kinds of advances in wind power that could have been made 20 years ago had fossil fuel companies not paid off governments and suppressed the switch to renewable energies.

  • @watercup123456 It is not the Governments or the Oil Companies fault that we sat and did nothing. We need to look into our harts and ask "what Can I do to make things better".

  • @Ideefixejanus

We can drill oil here, we have enough oil in america than in saudi arabia.

  • @jmjfanss your right, and we let them lie to us about it. but they wont let us in on there lies unless its profitable to them.

  • @Ideefixejanus

God we need ron paul for president in 2012.

  • @watercup123456 Jackass. This has been around for ages, it costs way more than normal wind turbines - that is why the aren't used.

  • @watercup123456

You're an idiot. The stated efficieny violates Betz's law i.e it's greenwashing bull****!

  • @marmaladekamikaze Betz's law is not a law, its a theory, one in which this video seems to be putting to shame.

  • @marmaladekamikaze how ever, if you build a larger telescope, what are the odds that the universe will appear bigger?

  • @watercup123456 the 'Gott mit uns' crowd never sleeps.

  • @watercup123456 don't get too excited there are even better technologies already in use, but in very very very very limited edition and still suppressed by those assholes you are talking about...

  • @watercup123456 for starters what us Americans should do is end ALL oil and coal subsidies, but Congress voted against them.

    This is getting rediculous.

  • @curingaging00 It's called revolt friend. Violent revolution. You aren't going to have a change in infrastructure unless you actually change the infrastructure.

Buildings need to come down to be put back up. The political system isn't going to do this, the system is set up against this.

Unless there were a benevolent dictator type who would set aside the unworking system of democracy, flatten the power of corporations and just take their money, and mandate a new system, it will never happen.

  • @curingaging00 If I was obama I would dissolve congress and the supreme court, and remove them by force if necessary. Then I would hold new special elections for those offices, and hand appoint an all new supreme court that will back my policies 100%.

Since nothing is getting done anyway, its not like removing these people would actually matter. Before these elections, I would rework the system to ensure bribery, lobbying, corruption, etc., are illegal, so what is happening now doesn't again.

  • @curingaging00 I would also dismantle the corporate media system, so they could not run anti-propaganda against me and my actions, and entirely destroy fox news, and take them off the air, for numerous FCC violations, fraud, and essentially operating as a propaganda operation for the republican party and oil/pharmaceutical corporations.

Anyone that spoke against this I would detain indefinitely as terrorists.

The people are getting free weed and free heathcare! And we're going to outer space!!

  • @watercup123456 What makes me cringe the most is that so many Americans believe whatever they read/hear without going deep into the subject.

FOX news for example has talked down on renewable energy, forgetting that it has come so far ever since the '80s. This New turbine design will almost definately bring wind energy light years beyond the ranks of the polluting oil and coal. Many Americans I've encountered don't believe that solar wind and geothermal will meet the future energy demands.

  • @curingaging00 Renewable energies are suppressed by fossil fuel companies, and in many ways. One is outright lies and propaganda on the public, saying renewables don't work, cost more, etc, when that is not true, another is they buy all the politicians off, who make the policy, and dictate the infrastructure that gets built/how its run. Then they buy up patents on renewable energies, clean, efficient engines, etc., and suppress them, so no one ever knows they exist.

    I would execute them all.

  • @watercup123456 the new HEPPOLT will protuse more bower

wee will brotuce 2 gw in california

  • I am very greatful I found this video, trippling energy efficiency made it more then possible for wind to become not just more ecofriendly compared to nuclear, but per KWH the Japaneese would be spending less money per KWH then if they otherwise sticked to nuclear.

  • I am very greatful I found this video, trippling energy efficiency made it more then possible for wind to become not just more ecofriendly compared to nuclear, but per KWH the Japaneese would be spending less money per KWH then if they otherwise sticked to nuclear.

  • @curingaging00 The price of Wind power per unit of energy already beats nuclear for new installations.

  • @Tamizushi What facts. please enlighten me.

  • @TheKrensada Have you never used a computer in your life? You know what "look it up" means? Go to Google Scholar, search for "Ducted turbines" and read for papers that actual scientists produced on the subject. What you will find is exactly what I said (and more).

  • @Tamizushi Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. as I am busy with my Friends, life, and art, I get kinda behind in things at times. Also to answer your question I have been using computers since kindergarten if you must know. but even that wouldn't make me an expert. but there is always more to learn, didn't even know Google scholar existed til today. The things you discover. Anyway I find communicating with you to leave me feeling rather bitter. so I take my leave of you.

  • @TheKrensada Sorry if I was rude with you. At the time I answered you I was in a bad mood because of real like. I shouldn't have lost my temper with you. Please accept my apology.

  • @Tamizushi Apology accepted. and you are forgiven.

  • Build em now!!!

  • Its official. We've lost to Asia.

  • @biggydx

    Who are "we"?

  • @piip4 America

  • nucrear crisis lol

  • please post the ft calhoun story that was before this one. I have it on dvr, but need to show it to others.
