professional wresting came from the Attitude Era. While Hulk Hogan was not involved in the Attitude Era to a great extent, Steve Austin and The Rock epitomized what the Attitude Era was all about. Having so many of these new wrestlers coming out with a weak gimmick or no gimmick at all just has them blend in with the staleness that WWE has become. Targeting a program based on violence to families is a horrible idea. Remember, it's supposed to be "sports ENTERTAINMENT"...

I agree that the whole corporate sponsor issues and Linda's attempt at the Senate are somewhat understandable reasons for the PG rating while that was an issue, but to say that you don't need over the top gimmicks, story lines, and matches to have a solid product is completely off. The WWF/E's highest ratings came from an episope of Raw from May 1999...during the Attitude Era. The Attitude Era was full of in-your-face gimmicks and story lines. Matches like Hell in a Cell and Elimination Chamber without blood is just fucking ridiculous! I mean, how could WWE convince the fans that matches such as those are brutal without any of the wrestler getting "busted open"? To me it just looks like a couple kids playing around in an over sized jungle gym without any bleeding in HIAC and EC matches. That's when blading is necessary and makes sense, is in Cage like matches! Other matches that are ideal for blading are I Quit and Last Man Standing.

Rock/Austin have put on some of the greatest matches of all time. In this Era this would not be possible. Actually Austin's Character Wouldn't exist. We want people going through tables, thumb tacks. Tell Mick Foley this. His performance with Taker in the Hell In The Cell Match is one of the greatest of all time. Two things: It's nuts that they created a Hell in a Cell PPV AFTER banning blood. Yes, blood was slightly overused, but if there ever was a match type that could use it, it's this. The Cell has been hyped for years as "the most vicious match ever" "the Devil's playground" "career-shortening", etc. And tomorrow, nobody will even bleed.

I've never liked the ridiculous vignettes with exploding cars, it takes away too much from the wrestling, but what really pisses me off is how scripted the wrestlers' dialog is. None of them get to speak from the heart, they're placated with their fat paychecks and aren't made to strive for improvement of their craft.

There's no reason to do away completely with the hardcore style and violence, it's integral to the show, but it should be utilized in specific situations that you can sell.

I'm glad the chair shots are gone. Sure when i was younger I use to dig it, but now that I'm older I've seen some good friend of mine who were great athletes suffer brain damage later on in life from undetected concussions and other numerous things. That shit is a silent killer and you may not feel it right away, but that shit will haunt you later on.

Hey, good video. Agree with just about everything you said. And you know, Daniel Bryan was proving your argument that you don't have to be in the big leagues to be legit. Mike Quackenbush and most of the CHIKARA roster would be BIG money on NXT or similar shows and angles. The sad thing is, all the NXT guys (Cept for Kaval now) are FCW guys. I dislike the whole Linda/political future argument because just cleaning what WWE produces today doesn't erase the events of the past. Linda (the most docile of the 4) has hit guys in the genitals, been groped by Eric Bischoff, she's been placed in a loony bin and watched Vince nude with Divas. The only issue with the blood thing is that WWE has to stop the match when an unplanned blood spot happens.I recently read that in order to keep the PG rating WWE has to limit the amount of blood seen at a time. Even on PPV apparently

I complimented a match between Dynamite Kid and The Anvil Jim Neidhart on here and some kid agreed with me and said that you'd never get a good match like that in today's PG era. Which mad no sense cause there was no blood or chair shots in this bout. Again something to point fingers at.

@SexxyMessiah I agree. To be honest the reason why the WWE PG now is so bad is because the large Majority of the WWE Roster and Employees grew up watching and were greatly influenced during the attitude era, and thus find it harder to adapt and tone down their content.

And I definitely agree that WWE is NOT PG at all. IMO, John Cena forcing himself onto The Widow of a Legend, then giving her the Attitude Adjustment, and the Whole "Piggy James" BS to me is more harmful to kids any blood'n'guts.

Fact is the PG rating is affecting the overall product. Blood has been a STAPLE of pro wrestling for years & now matches are STOPPED but this is just a obvious reason of many. the large problem with WWE is half PG half not... The PG era has ruined chair shots that can be needed in a key feud or heel turn, etc. and it has also prevented blood, which is also needed. Blood is needed in those ladder matches and hell in a cell matches. And Crazymike Blood has also been in a ton of great matches so your opinion is flaud. I've actually learned to accept PG, I mean I doubt RAW specifically would be much better, it seems WWE is focusing on 'Guest Host' and getting media attention. In fact, their would be plenty stars in WWE that wouldn't be getting as big of a push if WWE wasn't putting their focus on kids, eg. Kofi, Evan Bourne, etc. I also have to say that indy wrestlers are going to be better due to main stream wrestlers being gimmick based.. How many kids would cry if Cena didn't do his 'Five Knuckle Shuffle'?
