  • im related to The Everly Brothers

  • what year

  • The best performance of this song ever! The English really got into American rock & roll in the 1950s, they loved Jerry Lee, Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, Elvis, and especially Bill Haley & His Comets, who were more popular in England than in the USA. These artists influenced the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, among others. John Lennon once said, "If there hadn't been an Elvis, there would have been no Beatles!"

  • Fuck Elvis. Jerry Lee is the true king of rock & roll.

  • This was the year he went to the Star Club in Hamburg where the greatest live RnR performance ever recorded took place. Available on CD from Bear Family Records.

  • IT SUCKS

  • THIS is the beginning of rock & roll! I was there, and at 65 I'm still rockin'. As KISS says in their new cd, if it's too loud you're too old. Well, it's STILL not too loud! What a fantastic video, thanks!!!!!!!

  • fuck i wish i were there LONG LIVE ROCK IN ROLL!!!!

  • The KIller Rocks and so does dutreaux!!!! A frenchman with taste, who knew?!?!?!

  • lol my 3 year old grandson , was playing on keyboared , lol hammering , the keyboared , he even turned round with his hands behind his back , playing lol... he hasblonde curly hair, and blue eyes , he reminded me of jerry lee , so i put on the you tube , my grandson loves him and mimics him now lol..so rock n roll lives on ....

  • @gromacs1 you have a grandson? lucky!

  • It's obvious from Jerry Lee's repeated signals to an offstage sound guy that he couldn't hear the piano. His solos are done from sight only! The bad sound only succeeded in making him put in a Killer performance, climbing up on the piano (notice in the other vids of this show that there was no lid on it!) and showing the kids how to shake it. Killer show!

  • According to a long time fan who was there and is one of JLL's friends still today, he was having a go at the back band and asking them to 'pick it up'!

  • @bailbath thanks for the reply but I doubt an entertainer like Jerry Lee would repeatedly interrupt a solo just to "have a go at the back band." But he was drinking a lot then...

  • @babamuna66 You don't know whether Jerry was drinkin a lot then or not he may have been but the fact is that someone who was there and still is a fan/friend of Jerry lee said that in a interview that Jerry had trouble with the backup band and wanted them to 'pick it up '. Search for Graham Knight 2004.

  • @bailbath

Hi! Please, can you tell me where you found that particular affirmation of Graham Knight?

I don't find it on the net...

It's for my specifical studies & I need the original source!!

    Thanx!

  • @glt2204

Sorry been busy didn't see your question hope this helps.

  • @glt2204 search 'peter checksfield graham knight'

  • @bailbath Thank you very much!

  • Superb!!

  • The GREATESR LIVE SHOW ON EARTH.

  • i look at this video and it makes life worth living, long live the killer

  • wow, what a sexy man

  • UK Reporter "Do you have any parting words for England Mr. Lewis?"

JLL: "Yeah! England can kiss my ass!"

  • @paularichards05 He was mocked and ridiculed on the stage that is why he said "England can kiss my ass". His popularity recovered quickly in Europe, especially in the UK and Germany, during the mid-1960s. This is footage from his concert album, Live at the Star Club, Hamburg (1964),It is widely considered one of the greatest live rock and roll albums ever. Europe forgave him first, I guess they remembered how many times they married their cousins..LOL

  • @Allinfun6789 mocked and ridiculed for what??

  • @m1kewithaone His first concert in England, you know where the news caught him cold on marrying his 13 year old first cousin. When he got back to America, he denied what had happened and that made things go from bad to finished in the music business in America. This video is of his second visit to England. The Brits seem to let the issue go, but not here. Elvis got out of the service and took over where he left off. Check out my video, it explains everything.

  • @Allinfun6789 ohhhhh, i forgot about that!! i wonder how old he was when he got married. 'cause even though she's very young, she may be very mature, and if he was only 5 yrs older, well, ?? i'm just sayin' . ok, i'm going to go to your channel to look for your video, but if it's not there, you'll have to tell me were it's at.

  • @m1kewithaone When Elvis was drafted into the army, Jerry Lee had the whole music world of rock&Roll in his pocket until he secretly married his first cousin who was 13 years old. His first over seas show was in England, and some reporter found out about the marriage and it was all over England then quickly over to the US where Jerry Lee lost his career. I guess it is much better than the way Buddy Holly got taken out.

  • @Allinfun6789 yeah, buddy holly, what a shame. if we started counting up all the rock stars we lost up to jim morrison in '71, i think we would be shocked at the staggaring number!

  • @Allinfun6789

This isn't from the Star Club album or concert. It's from the Granada TV show recorded in 1964. It also featured a rather subdued Gene Vincent whivh you can see elsewhere on Youtube

  • @Allinfun6789 This clip is from Granada TV show. Little Richard also sings Whole Lotta Shakin on the show.

Gene Vincent and the The Animals are also on the show.

  • @paularichards05 i wonder if he went there just so he could say that lol!

  • @paularichards05 yep suckers lmao

  • i should have stressed that if you think Jerry Lee goes nuts here Little Richard GOES INSANE

  • Little Richard on what looks the same show in England does his own unique version of the same song. Check it out on You Tube. It's the version that runs 5.40 mins.

  • Jerry lee and the piano are as one.

  • I love the audience claping and dancing in the style of back then =D

  • Wonderful! They ruined his name but they couldn't keep him from living up to his title every time The Killer got in front of an audience. I love the ad lib at 6:23: "I would throw it out there but there's too many of you and I ain't got but one! I'm gonna hang onto it."

  • rååååå.................

  • YEP !! They didn´t need drugs, except for alcohol ... Good times!

  • those people look like they are have seizures.

  • he rocksssssss as always.....thnx for the video....i having a good time with this

  • woooooooooooow

  • Remember that if you choose to call JLL a pedophile, you will have to call a majority of the southern population of his generation pedophiles. Marrying at a young age was perfectly normal, as it has been in several other cultures too. Falling in love at such an age isnt abnormail is it? They married right away because they considered it the proper thing to do.

  • Well, my experience with obnoxious 13 and 14 year olds proved that love has no age, but what he did (incest) was wrong.

  • A good Pedo ? So not all bad then ! Ask Myra.

  • jUnK-Tabloid-stereotypes of Pedos & Adultos are as meaningless as the rest of the jUnK-media. As the Killer rightly says, "Like me, loathe me or kiss my ass - I don't give a damn !" And as he rightly said to hot-to-trot Adulto Myra, "You can shake it, but don't break it."

  • Jerry Lee, you're a fucking idiot, but you kicked some ass.

  • this song was on The Lion of Africa

  • Thanks for this video. I'd love to subscribe to your stuff, but you gotta stop dropping the F-bomb.

  • thats what you call an up close and personnal concert !! are they close enough ??

they really jammed bak in the day , it all seems so much more fun , they seemed to enjoy it more , not just out to make a dollar .

great footage excellent clip you added . thanks !!!

  • yeah

  • O yes he s kickin' some fuckin' ass indeed ! ! !

  • wow...they are headbanging even before heavy metal came

  • it was a greate time i think..

  • @pacey68 Wow!!! your dad was at this performance?

    Oh my god!!!

I wish i had a time machine so i could go back in time and see this performance.

  • Jerry Lee Lewis, because of you im learning piano again :P

  • 50 years later, and this still cant be topped

  • Damn this is the best! Get some friends together and some whiskey and put this on. Party all night!

  • RIGHT ON

    GREAT LIVE PERFORMANCE

  • HUumm Great Great Killer ! That's rock and roll man !

  • This isn't 'foreign TV'. It's British.

  • i agree jll is the king , better act than elvis, even tho i love elvis also.

  • agree

  • Maybe to you Jerry Lee Lewis is OzzyRockz but stick to The Killer for J.L.L The world knows Elvis as the King. Don't get me wrong Jerry is one of the founding fathers of R.R and damn good but lets not get carried away by calling him the King, Millions might even think so, mbut Billions Know Elvis as the King.

  • let me add to what your saying Not only is Jerry one of the founding fathers of Rock N Roll but He was a musical genius. He could play anything he put his hands on. Elvis just knew a couple of chords

  • lets compare this LR or Elvis or Chuck Berry it really doesnt compare this shows why Jerry Lee LEWIS is undoubtly The KING OF R&R

    Long LIVE JLL

  • Early headbanging footage!

  • Best Killer footage!

    I met him in 1984.

    Strongest grip I've ever felt.

  • I think as far as attitude goes Jerry Lee was the first Punk Rocker! I mean check it out! there are people pogoing and banging their fists just like at a punk show.

  • waaaaaaaaaaay better than the little richard version.

  • Comment removed

  • the show was at the Granada studios in 64 and was originally called 'Whole lotta shakin goin' On' I know as I was one of those guys at the piano and we were all hanging on as it was a scissor lift which moved. Rhythm didn't matter when you were next to 'The Killer'

  • UK Rock'n'Roll record dealer Paul Sandford is next to Jerry Lee on this clip. So cool to chat with him about the Killer, then buy some rare 45s.

Rock'n'Roll was at it's best and most genuine in the 1950s, everything that came after has been corporate, money-grabbing fakery.

Check out RockabillyDJ,com to hear masses more of the real hard stuff.

  • This is fuckin' amazing!

  • Awesome.

  • wooohoooooooooooooooo

  • The power of rock n roll!

  • Nobody in rock history could reach this raving sensation (maybe Elvis on his 1st TV show). Jerry Lee was rising his legend. One of the greatest of all time

  • whitefalcon: perhaps THE greatest!!!

  • For sure, Brutus, maybe the greatest. In my estimation, on scene nobody could reach his wildness. I repeat, maybe Elvis on his 1st Tv performance on Milton Berle show

  • whitefalcon64: that's when he performed 'Hound Dog', right?

  • For sure Brutus, in my estimation those 2 performings are the greatest on Rock and roll history. Greetings from Spain.

  • you're absolutely right

  • that crowd is going mental

  • Please note the Ted at 7:02 at 3 O'clock.

  • Top Man

  • What an unbelievable performance. He didn't seem to be affected by the kids clutching at him. No way they would have gotten that close to him today!

  • Yeah for sure :)

  • We did at the 100 Club this year check my videos

  • SO FUCKING HARDCORE!!!

  • These kids looked like they were about to break the piano down.

  • You can shake it one time for jerry lee lewis

  • Jerry Lee Lewis is the greatest pianist of all time. In my band I want my keyboardist to play piano as much as possible like Jerry Lee.

  • Why did you write that to me,how do you know i play like Jerry ??

  • I have no idea that you play like Jerry Lee. You're welcome to join my band if you want to. I don't know where you live though so I don't know how the band can practice.

  • CashPresley: hire me!!!

  • Hire you for what?

  • CashPresley32: I'm a piano player.

  • Where do you live? I'm trying to get a band together, and I need someone to play piano for me. I had a band in Redding, CA. A lot of my band members left me band, and did their own thing, and I only have one member in my band now, and he still lives in Redding, but I live in Medford, OR. Hope you can join my band.

  • Well, I live in The Netherlands...

  • I live in Medford, Oregon.

  • hah

    that might be a problem...

  • What's the problem?
