  • Merry Christmas, happy holidays and Merry Everything, everyone.

  • If you want to get the hang of it [incarnation], think how you would like to become a slug or a crab. (C.S. Lewis)

  • One of a Kind JT he can make any song his own..and breathe new life into it

  • Go tell it James.

  • Such great drumming, mixing it up constantly between snare, rim and tambourine. And a beautiful song.

  • yes, taylor.....don´t forget to tell the mountains "Obama go home".....:-)

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • In 1989 James Taylor bought three Olsons guitars: an SJ, an SJ cutaway, and a Dreadnaught.

  • @miss30427 , yeah and that's easily US$45 thousand all in all ... wheew ..

  • @miss30427 you mean like the wow dreadnaught plate armor

  • Go now. Go to your windows and yell---- Oh, that's Howard Beale. Never mind.

  • Jesus is the Best!

  • Look for Yarelin García's Go Tell It On The Mountain COVER!! amazing!

  • i hope it's really a personal experience beginning at 1:55 ;D

  • go- tell it-on the -mou-nt-ain ov-er the hills and - ev-ry-whe-ere

that is wat he sounds like breaking up his words i dont want to be rude and i like god its just that u need to hear the proper version

but i think wat u were trying to do is give it a nice lil' tune and if thats it good job:)

  • @knexlover100

that is the original way the song was sung ... in all due respect it's what used to be called a "Negro-Spiritual" song that was sung in the cotton-fields ... James Taylor is being true to the song's roots.

  • james taylor oh la la

  • LOVE this! great to find a video on here - WITH the fab Arnold, Kate and David lending their silky vocals.... just cranked it up this week on a school morning to get my 14 yr old awake (and in the Christmas spirit!) ~ JT's voice was made for this! he gives it just the right fusion of reverence and funk - as always: perfection! thanks for posting!

  • This song reminds me of Christmas and my Grandma

  • 10 people had their sound turned off.

  • NICE , but i like bobmarlkeys version more

  • Old, but still gold

  • August 29, haven't watched in a while. Such an upper. To the eight people were don't "like" this video, um, are you on crack??

  • You did it, man!!!!

Dolly Parton will be proud of you.

  • May 1, love love love this rendition and all things JT.

  • A great song for Earth day and every day.

  • April 5, me too. am still watching this x'mas video of James Taylor, no wonder, he is respected in US, a clean living singer, w/ no taint on his life (except that 'fire and rain' episode) but he has overcome it w/ flying colors

  • LOVE GOD LOVE THIS SONG

  • March 1, I'm still watching this video! One question, though, who or what is an "olson?"

  • @roseyaire it's his favorite guitar, made for him by james olson

  • @attybong Thanks; I'm still listening; thanx again for posting

  • @roseyaire

He has two custom Olson guitars and each cost approximately $25,000.00. He probably didn't have to pay anything, however.

  • realy! nyc

  • So great! Makes me hate christmas time a little less! Thanks for posting.........

  • echt tolles lied!

  • he has suck an amazing voice!

i have listened to him since i was born and it still gets me

  • Great typo.

  • haha oops fail

  • I sing this in chorus about everyday, I love it:)

  • I love that JT does that in his songs, cries out to God and Jesus, and then states that he is spiritual, but belonging to no particular religion........Now that makes him even cooler than he was in the first place..AWESOME! Great version of this song!

  • you can sing out to Jesus, and sing spirituals and not be considered a Christian. James Taylor is beyond a religion, he surpasses that with his interpretations and performances. Definitely not limited by a religion, this guy...Thank God!

  • Nice ! Love it! Thank you!

  • well done song!!

  • easily the best musicianship ever

  • That's a pretty cool version...

got that one on cd. The whole Christmas Album is absolutely great.

  • wow it's beautiful i was looking for a good version this is fantastic

  • My first time to see this clip of JT. It sounds as if steve gadd is on drums but I recognize that I guess it's greg bissonette. Who's playin the piano at the back of James Taylor? Thanks

  • i think he's larry goldings

  • Larry goldings I guessed regularly plays with JT. But in this particular clip I think the piano player must be Dave Grusin, correct me if I'm wrong because the pianist here looks older than Larry and I recognized also the structure of the fingers and how he uses his wristwatch at his left arm, he must be Grusin. And the way he attacks the keys, he's full of gray hairs also and the structure of his face is typical of Dave Grusin. Thanks anyway!

  • Dave Grusin.. as in the composer of On Golden Pond? Wow! Thanks for the tidbit!

  • On the record its Dave Gruisin - and the sound i similar

  • @attybong it's dave grusin.

  • @attybong It's not Larry, but I can't recognize who's playing piano...

  • @farley528 Im pretty sure its Dave Gruisin

  • @farley528 Does have a Steve Gadd sound, doesn't he? This would be an enjoyable gig for a drummer.

  • @farley528 I think he is Dave Grusin, may be, but not Larry, in the same show Larry played the hammonds (Jingle Bells), and in Jingle Bells I clearly see he is Dave Grusin, must be him on this take also, but I may wrong, dont know

  • @farley528 It does sound like Steve Gadd!

  • "Guess I was a seeker, sought Him both night and day. Ask the Lord to help me - he showed me the way." Watch his face on "He showed me the way." I could be wrong, but there looks to be so much emotion and personal connection for JT behind these lyrics - at least his face makes it seem so.

  • if you'd like to hear a guy who can puts a few notes together just his voice and guitar check out David Wilcox, I'm a huge JT fan and I really like some of David's work

  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play and organ. Tonight (Christmas Eve), I attended a service at a local Lutheran Church. We sang this as the Hymn of Praise. It is #290 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. Just thought I'd share.

  • Go away you SATAN lover

  • wow...

  • awesome!!!its so nostalgic...reminds me of my school days..thanks 4 uploadin.....

  • oh i love this song its awsome you ROCK!!!

  • His voice is amazing.

  • Happy Christmas

  • merry christmas!

  • he gives me the creeps, great voice.

  • I am so glad James survived all the turbulous years. What a talent. Voice like silk. Even my nephew who is 26 years old, says he does not know one women who is not in love with James Taylor. No one measures up to James yet! hahaha!

  • Dave Grey, John Mayer, Jason Mrz, Newton Faulkner, Piers Faccini, Jack Johnson, Donovan Frankinferter, all try to be JT's, Mayer is the only one that comes close.

I should add that I think that Mayer is more talented in some ways than JT.

  • If you don't know that's your loss

  • I prefer it in Don Mclean´s voice

  • THIS DUDE IS AWESOME!!!

    marqus,

and i will go, and tell it on the mountain. :)

  • me too. wonder if he's become a christian? he probably believed even when he was young. he was crying out in fire and rain: "won't you look down upon me Jesus, you gotta help me make a stand....i wont make it any other way"

  • ooopps. this is a reply to donyaquixote.
