Yeah I read Capcom is calling RE6 dramatic horror. I'd rather have a horror based RE but you're right you can't blame them. Plus Dead Space is king right now in the survival horror category.

I personally am a RE fan, so I will be getting RE6, RE Operation Raccon City and RE Revelations. I for really don't care what direction Capcom takes as long as the game entertains me and get alot of replay value in return.

I've seen the GTA5, Max Payne 3, and RE6 trailers and I can say i'm not hyped for neither. The only reason re5 sold well was because of the hype.

Just me, but re2 was the last re game I got into. 3 was ok, 4 was where it moved out into the action genre as its focus.

In away i think it is another change in the survivor horror genre, because the trailer kinda looks like you are simply trying to surviving the horror of the zombies and death, so in a way it is still a survival horror kinda game. The same backlash happened when dead space 2 was said to be more action packed and that game is considered one of the better survival horror games in years.

Looks awesome, I know it's not a Survival Horror game anymore but it still looks great. Survival Horror does need to become stronger as a sub genre but I don't see Resident Evil going back.

actually resident evil 6 will be devided in 3 different gameplay styles. Leon will have the classical resident evil 1,2, and 3 style. Chris redfield segments will play as reisdent evil 4 and 5. The other character's gameplay is supposed to be a combination of both.

truth is, RE5 sold the most because of the new ppl getting into gaming and hearing about how good the RE series is, and it just so happen that 5 was coming out, so they went and tried out to atleast try to get into the series, thats basically the bare bones of what happened, ofc a company isnt going to see this tho

@lylatfox4 It was also a simultaneously-released multiplat. First one in the series' history, I believe. And it wasn't nearly as well-received by its audience as it sold. RE4 is generally held to much higher regard, and deservedly so. As much as I hate RE4 for killing the survival horror genre, it was a lot better than RE5. Longer, better bosses, better level design, etc. And it pretty much created the template for every Third-Person Shooter this gen, from Gears to Uncharted to Alan Wake.

Capcom feels that the more actiony route is the best route to take? I argue that it's been that way since RE4. Nothing new there. RE5 is the best-selling game in the series because of all the hype it got fresh off the heals of their then-best-selling game: RE4 -- which has already done a perfectly efficient job of bastardizing everything the series was about. Stay true to the story itself...? They already flushed the entire plotline down the toilet with RE4, so no worries.
