I have two red eared sliders I would like to release-they are adults I rescued- I just hate keeping them in a tank- the thing is they were in captivity since they were born- I dont want them to get hurt in the wild- but I dont want them to spend the rest of their lives confined in a tank either-what shoud i do? :(
@survivorkitty430 You can talk to a local animal rescue group if they can guide you to a safe place where to take them. Or you can go to bestfriends com website and email them. They will tell you what to do. Either way, they should not spend the rest of their lives confined. Thank you for caring.
@survivorkitty430 so sorry, I forgot to respond. I don't know how they survive in winter, I just hope they do. Not a problem here because it is always warm.
I release my 2 red eared slider turtles yesterday at a lake in a park, there's alot of water plants and fishes inside the lake. Plus there's even a flock of turtles inside the lake. I was sad when I saw them go dive into the lake and they vanished. A couple minutes later I see my exact same turtles peaking out of the water looking at me and my mom. They then swam to their other friends who were near them. Ill be going to see them this week. This video is beautiful, thanks for uploading it.
@GalickGun5078 Thank you! I guess there must be a lot of the released turtles out there. Wonder what that does to the environment for the other species...? Hope they are still doing well. I hate seeing anything in a cage. Thank you for giving them freedom!
that was great video i just released my red eared slider about a week ago with my friends really good vid and i bet our turtles are alot more happy now
@mclovenismyname a few months ago I found one in terrible conditions, so I took it and released it where the other one is, and it swam out into the lake, head up for a very long time, not believing its luck...

@mclovenismyname I am sure they are still very happy and growing. They can get pretty big in the wild.

What y'all did was a good thing and I like that part, 1:34 , where he runs off and swims away into the lake!
(:

@lameb0ii I know, I love that part the best, he was sooo happy! He was very far away from any water, when my kitties found him.
