a few smacks with a bfh always helps- relieves the stress in the knuckle and shocks the ball joint out

Don`t be afrair to use a little Penatrating oil here like PB Blaster...

The tool he is using is the OTC 7248 (which is part of the OTC 7249 ball joint service set). Depending on make of vehicle, you will have to purchase an adapter as well - I had to get the 7894 for my 2008 Jeep Wrangler. Hope this helps.
