@sunsdomain , any grouse species unaware of man's predatory nature is prone to be a "fool hen". So called "fool hens" are simply ignorant grouse who never learned that humans are dangerous animals. "Fool hens" are usually found in remote areas when people don't usually hunt them, but they can occur anywhere that grouse thrive.
Back in saskatchewan we have tons of theese sharp tailed grouse, it's actually or provincial bird. They are great eating the brest is my most favored. So if you ever want to shoot sharp tailed grouse come to saskatchewan. They love tall grass, trees and shrubs.
In the last 3 years I have been befriended by 2 different male Grouse. The one in 2008 allowed me to pick him up and at times followed me into my home. This most recent one now flys at my truck to stop me from leaving every morning and greets me when I return around 5pm. My neighbor told me he had the same experience in 2004. We live in the woods surrounded by 10 acres in NE Pa. Wondered if this has happened to anyone else? I'm not a hunter. Maybe he knows that?
Wow, that's amazing. I have a couple of videos of a grouse that walked next to my car and it seemed to show no fear. Maybe they're just naturally tame and trusting.
yea, for some reason the videos don't load onto this site very well and my buddy shot this with his digital camera. I have it posted on putfile dot com also and it's much more clear.
Wich of the pixels were the Grouse?
