Certainly one of my favorite films and soundtrack of all my life. I didn't completely agree with Maude taking her own life, because she wanted to be in control of her own death. If I was that lovely and healthy and feisty at 82, death would be the furthest thing from my mind. But, I can see her reasoning..go out while she's still strong, and her mind is clear. I wouldn't want to go to a hospital, though, and die there. I'd go to the mountains in the Spring.

@grannynara I've never been able to agree with her reasoning though because people are still vital and happily active at 90 and even at 100, true they may be slowed down a bit, but even at 79 or 80 you're slowed down from when you were 40 or 20, and with every new day comes the potential for another wonderful experience. I'd hope to live to be 120, and I have a feeling by the time I reach that age they'll figure out how to do it healthily.

The first time I saw this movie, I sat there slack-jawed....totally stunned! You have to admit it was freakin' weird. After repeated viewings, I grew to appreciate the meaning being conveyed. One of the best movie soundtracks in my opinion! OK...I'm ready for a grillin'....my favorite movie soundtrack is from the movie CARS. What? I have kids!!!

(And I can practically quote every line, scene by scene, if called upon.) Am speaking of the brief shot of the numbers tatooed on Maude's wrist, i.e., Maude is a Nazi concentration camp survivor. You know, I recently bought the DVD and had forgotten how much this film influenced me. I actually look quite like Harold in real life: dark hair, same face etc. and I identified myself with him (and still do), does that make sense? I had forgotten about his converted E-Type... I really loved it and still do. For me, this film is all about feeling good about yourself and carrying on with life regardless of what it throws at you. I'm happy to have lived at a time when I could see this movie! :)

Okay, this film is absolutley the best. I fell in love with it when I first watched it (which was about a month ago) It changed my life in ways and everytime I watch the movie it gives me the chills and that special feeling inside.
