That's it? He has to give up the kingdom? I guess that's kind of big but he never really WANTED to be the prince anyways so I'm not seeing the problem in telling Abigail. She will feel bad but I mean if Joe wants to marry her and she wants to marry him I don't see the problem.

I get that Joe's the only one in his family that could be King. Kevin WOULD have been King after his dad had passed away or something but, for obvious reasons, it's now down to Joe. It's really unfair that he has to pick between the Kingdom and Abigail. He WANTS to marry her but it's not that simple :|

That is the law that says he can. He can marry Abigail as long as he gives up being royal. And he has to leave the castle since he has no purpose being there anymore. He's not a royal.
