Stupid question i know but why on earth would you want to put on a set of ear defenders on if you you where warming this engine up.If this was the last thing i ever heard before becoming deaf then so be it.

You obviously place no value whatsoever on the longevity of your hearing.

Ask Jack Brabham, who is now almost deaf, if he would have worn hearing protection if it had been available back in the 1950s/1960s.

His answer to that question (already asked) is a resounding "Yes!"
