I hiked up on a huge black bear that was eating a campers backpack this summer. I have seen several black bears while hiking in mountains, but I do not make a habit of recording. When I saw the bear eating a campers backpack I decided to bring the bear footage that friends always ask for when I return from NC mountains.
I got too close, and the bear stomped the ground and I proceeded get out of its way and the bear proceeded to get another backpack.
The bear pawed the ground three times as he growled. I walked away and the park ranger stepped in. I was on the walk way with a railing about 4 feet tall. So i was not in a place i shouldn't have been but still shouldn't have been in eye shot.
The next time, keep the film going even if the bear attacks. Especially if it attacks. Why the heck do you think we came here?
Go back and find that bear and keep the camera running.
