It's nice that a gay boy won gold, but the news value is very slight. He's not American, he's in a minor sport, and even though it happened at the Olympics, not a word was said about what it meant. No shot of family or bf, just of the Aussie teammates. So I'm sure there are a hundred thousand USA gays blissfully unaware that one of us has taken a gold medal, and, unlike dear old Greg and Johnny, he is out of the closet when it happens.
