  • Shows what Australia (and Holden) is capable of. Wish those bloody unpatriotic journo's would shut up, Holden's far from dead. The government needs a swift kick to the backside too

  • shit

  • BUT..will it blend?

  • Comment removed

  • Take that body and put the Volt running gear in it and put it in the show rooms now!!!...

  • what is the name of that type of paint job? so sparkly...

  • @justforlooking It's just glitter. You add it to the paint. You can buy the packs of glitter right off eBay... In any colour

  • This is just awesome.

Also a bit embarrassing since it somehow is the batmobile or K.I.T. kind of awesomeoness that would probably cause me laughing bout myself while driving such car but anyways...

  • very cool

  • I remember seeing this in the Holden Musuem in Echuca back in the early 90's

It was just sitting in a corner neglected. I am glad they pulled it out and fixed it up.

  • this is fabulous. GM Make this car!

  • i wish they would have built a complete new one and left the only one as it was

    but it does look amazing

  • unreal.

  • My last name is Holden :D no lie! can i have a free car now???

  • Comment removed

  • I want one.

  • The air conditioning is called the Comfortron? XD Seriously though, this car still looks amazing after 42 years.

  • 0:38

I'm in love with those rectangular headlamps. Why did you make them circular?

  • they should just make a bunch of them and sell them

  • I believe "Matchbox" had this in there collection.

  • Is it supposed to not have side mirrors? Or do most concept cars not have them?

  • Its weird how the old cars look like the cars of future

  • doesnt look very water safe

  • Congrats from the REAL ROCKY!!!

  • A car accident happens, you flip upside down. What do you do? How do you get out?

  • @rgre1 Through the broken glass window of course.

  • @rgre1

You just click the button to open the door and that lifts the car up. Simple as that.

  • @rgre1 break the glass or lower it down?

  • @KingofTheMafia First thing's first... SHUT UP.

    Second it was a joke,and

third if I really did mean it i I have my opinion and yours doesn't matter to me.

  • Those are some beautiful concepts.

  • cool car

  • damn... steering wheel is on wrong side XD come on do something for regular driving not for japan or england or any other british colony -.-

  • @TheKrcy 1. designed and built as a one-off prototype 2. Australian built, which automatically means RHD. 3. Holden already build cars for Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, China, America, England. You just don't hear about them because they wear different badges outside Australia

  • Paint it black and we've got a new Kitt (Knigh Riders).

  • THIS IS JUST AWESOME TO SEE! WHAT A CAR!

  • So this basically a commercial.

  • this car is fantastic...

  • like a boss...

  • car looks cool but paint job sucks , reminds me of austin powers days xD

  • needs a flux capacitor with 1.21 gigawatts of power.

  • why dear santa when you can dear go?

  • Those headlights are badass.

  • Looks part countach.

  • WHERE IS MY SKY CAR????

I GUESS I'LL JUST HAVE TO BUILD IT MYSELF!

ANY OF YOU GUYS KNOW ABOUT ELECTRON EXTRACTION TECHNOLOGY?

A GALLON OF REGULAR AIR HAS TRILLIONS OF ELECTRONS IN IT!

    LET'S GET CRACKING!

  • @FASTMOVINGBROOK That's genius!

  • @FASTMOVINGBROOK lmfao

  • Mechanically it may be unique.... but.... uh... it looks like a corvette .I like the logo, as it dates back to forever ago.... I just don't want this company to make the same mistake Ford did when they have re-made their Mustangs time and time again. Value is all in the body... just worried that the body is too similiar to that of a Corvettes. Obviously quanity takes a part.... but just saying.... I think it resembles too much of a corvette

  • @MooreMaryKay Look at the back end and you will think otherwise. This car was a 1960s show car, and this style predated what Chevrolet was doing with the Corvette at the time. This was something Holden did "out the back of the workshop". Their best show car to date was the EFIJY in 2006, which hit the US show scene and cleaned up in awards wherever it went

  • @091647100 LOL

  • They should have put this in forza 4.

  • I'd say about 2/3 concept cars are better than the cars actually in production...

  • 1960 drivers use sit belt?

  • @MrFlyUpHigh No, this was one of the first. If not the first... that's one of the things they mean by ahead-of-it's-time.

  • @MrFlyUpHigh Some production cars in Australia in the 60s had them as optional for the passengers but standard for the driver

  • it's got the rear end of a corvette, rear wheel wells of a prius, front end of a countach, and window section of a firebird.. they weren't too far off.

  • Its Speed Racers car... the mach 5.

  • I'll give you my 2006 :D Hyundai tib GT v6 for it :D

  • ummm i want it!!!

  • umm ill take one... but not in that color

  • thats pretty damn awesome

  • NOW THAT IS STOKED

  • Holden makes a fine damn car, just ask any modern GTO owner.

  • You can't even roll down the windows to smoke a cig... Ill stick to my 2001 honda p.o.s.

  • beast

  • can i buy this car with microsoft points? cuz that be sexy holmes

  • FIRST I THOUGHT ITS A CONCEPT LAMBORGHINI OR OLD AND MAKE IT NEW LAMBO

  • So are those pop down headlights?

  • if it a GM then it sucks

  • LiL Wayne will have this in a week... SWAG

  • why did it need restoration? I can't imagine someone letting it rust or anything...

  • Nice car,,, it looks a lot like Magnum's Ferrari 308 GTS and Hardcastle and McCormick's Coyote X--itself a replica based on the McLaren M6GT.

Are you guys going to make it available to the public anytime soon,,, and If so, what would be the price tag on it?

  • @ObamaWorstPOTUSEver She was always intended as only a show car, and in the scheme of Australian automotive history, a priceless antique nowSomebody might make a replica, but none have done so yet. This was born in 1967

  • all i have to say is this is one sexy car

  • If this car was mass produced in 69 now i wold drive a Chevy not Audi!

  • that's a nice looking honda

  • THIS CAR IS AMAZING. i just wish it was a mass produced model. its fucking gorgeous. a modernized version of that car would be phenomenal

  • 1969 Haha 69

  • 1969

  • 69

  • I WANT ONE.

  • This car is incredible.

  • *looks at insurance bill*

    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • Dear Santa....

  • @Iwanttowinyouraffle hahahahahahahaha, good one.

  • this is a cool car.. they should take the concept and merge it with modern technology and make a beast car

  • One of ugliest car ever seen.

    YUCK...PUKE... VOMIT...YUCCCK... HORRIBLE.... EWWWW....

  • how is there no engine noise w/ a car that fuckin awesome?

  • that is one ugly car

  • @superskwrl Well, it's what most modern supercars look like, so thank you for implying that all super cars are ugly :)

  • @lolpranksta if supercars look like that, then i guess so

  • Looks Like A Sterling Kit Car . . .

  • So you're telling me that technology that we've gotten in cars within the past few years has been though about 50 years ago?

  • Looks like a wanna be space age car...from 1969.

  • and i used to think Ferrari was so original.

  • that dude is australian

  • @ahmadaz96001 so is the a problem with that ? fucking american

  • @The305Gamer way to freak out about somebody saying that guy is Australian, you have turned a simple statement into some kind of slander on your own.

  • so if the battery dies how do i get out?

and if i get a rear flat tire how do i change it?

  • cool car. also check out the 1963 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS

    .

  • I hate concept cars. They always look excellent. But hardly every come to fruition, an d if they do they are usually ugly as... Well... a Ford KA xD

  • still looks awesome today. great work.. too bad they never sold them.. like every other concept car people want to buy.

  • street version Mach 5?

  • @beyondtheblackstump:wasn't the car your talking about labelled the "GTR-X" concept? I thought the XU2 was going to be a XU1 follow on but with a 5.0ltr engine but GMH wouldn't back the production of a "race street car".then there was talk of the SL/R 5000 being named the XU2 but obviously didn't happen.....I may be wrong....

  • But can it rip a mean skid?

  • Such a sexy piece of machinery and innovation.

  • Will this go on for production lol?

  • Looks similar to the next gen GTR XU2 Torana the made late '70 early '80's.

Which was also a concept car.

  • Looks badass in comparisson to a ford gt40. That should've bu it in lemans when ford put the gt40 in to show up farrari. Then Holden wouldve been the farrari killer.

  • Cool, KITT 2000 changing lane lights! (0:39).

  • Comment removed

  • It's a CONCEPT car you idiots. Stop talking like they are gonna be mass produced!

  • @nomorelolsok I wish it would have been lol!

  • Comment removed

  • @nomorelolsok would you bet your first born child on that?

  • Absolutely a stunning vehicle!!! Far ahead of its time. Would love to see this car back in production. Visually it rivals a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

  • wow a 253 lol

  • @fuzzjunky ...yeah...only a baby V8...I learnt to drive in a HQ Kingswood station wagon that was powered by a 253

  • Where is the original one..?

  • @TrueBlueAustralian This is the original car - it had a ground up restoration

  • Best looking Australian made Holden ever. Much better looking than that Bogan taxi the 'Bommodore'.

  • It looks.... phenomenal

  • Now its time for a all new Hurricane made with the latest and greatest Technologies and materials

  • Whoa, the steering wheel / column is attached to the roof? That seems like a hard way to do it lol. Is most of the body shell aluminium?

  • One word said it all. SEXY!

  • I want one!

  • Looks great! Especially for '69!

  • looks great, yes they need to rebuild for production the rear of the car could use some remodelling though... Still thumbs up. I would buy one. insted of the Lotus Elise

  • This has to be one of the coolest things I've seen this year! Check out all those gadgets in the car not to mention the cool pop DOWN lights!

  • sooo...if the car flips over, how do the person get out?

  • @MementoSai you really think safety was a concern in the 60's on a concept car?

  • Saw it today at the Melbourne Motorclassica show, looks good but the wouldn't put the top down.

  • He says at 1:16 that it was a significant car when it was "released" but if it's a concept car that never saw the light of day for the general public then it was never actually released.

Better choice of word next time methinks.

  • Now put into production the new Torana. that car was gorgeous and I'm not even a Holden fan.

  • If only I could buy one!

  • 69 heheh

  • I just want one!

  • How about the engine? Whts its top speed and acceleration?

  • @azaman1000 Engine is a 4.2L Holden V8 making 261hp.

Don't know top speed or acceleration.

  • @thegoldenduck456 Thanks :)

  • as good as lamingtons

  • looks like space ship now, amagine what it looked like to those clueless bastards 40 years ago.

  • Sorry, the Bugatti Veyron is better.

  • @RonnyWho IMO, not really. It may have a 1184 BHP W16 engine, but it corners like a drunk pig and looks like said pigs arse.

  • it had night rider eyes on its ass!!

  • the way those eyelids drop - dope!

  • Think the Hurricane is about due to hit the lines.

  • Epic

  • Hmmm, and this is the comapny that created the Commodore?

  • @Samsgarden yes it is...

  • @Samsgarden Yes. where are you going with this though? :l

  • @QuantumOverclock

Just a little incongruous, that's all. Nothing against the Commodore, it's as good as any really.

  • @Samsgarden true, but that is the case with almost all concept cars.

  • Looks like a bastardization of a few cars that were out at the time...not the best concept unless you're a holden fanboy.

  • haha 69

  • My question is why did i need to be restored in the first place? was it left out in some rusty old shed? Surely you would think they would keep concept cars in some kind of showroom type place.

  • Love it...go Holden! The headlights, the rear blinkers, BRILLIANT!

  • That is so cool

  • Holden need to build a concept supercar for the Sydney Motor Show, with a pure fossil fuel burning big block V8. None of this hippy save the planet hybrid crap.

  • Please, take my money!

  • Sweet.

  • Holy shit, never saw much of this concept car before, looks awesome, and rare, too!!

  • The saddest thing is you could never sell this car now. The shape would never be considered podestrian friendly, and the body wouldnt be able to accomodate crash crumple zones or any chassis protection for the occupants/airbags etc. Regulation kills everything creative.
