@andymooseman Not to mention that the CD is far less compressed than Apples AAC files. Granted if you listen through ear buds or the average car stereo it makes no difference, but there IS a sound difference on a good enough stereo.
Having all movies open worldwide on the same day would probably result in my rarely going to the theater. Wide openings are generally for those films with the broadest commercial appeal - the guaranteed blockbusters with huge pre-opening promotion budgets. Even if you could get around the costs of making thousands of 35mm prints of the films (digital distribution to theaters?), this would still be true. The movies I love build their audience slowly, through word of mouth and local reviews...
(ran out of space).... Well, YT comment boxes are not large enough for me to continue my rant, but I think you see where I'm going. I don't want mass-produced media designed for big opening weekends. I have a television for that crap.
@kenrg I did think of that potential issue of all the prints needed after i recorded this. But my main point is to just to express my exasperation at the backward thinking, or total lack of thinking on behalf of the media companies. I'd rather piracy didn't exist, but until those companies get their act together, it certainly will :)
I'm an odd ball I won't try most of the time to watch movies illegally except for older ones that are either out of print on dvd or never released at all.I do try and catch many british shows online because bbc america only has what they think needs seen. You should be able to order most things from amazon.us I order from amazon.uk and .de now and again you can order from all of them except from the chinese or japanese without making a new account. They say the first Kodak digital cam was 14lbs
@bearchay889 I've never watched any illegal movies online either. That's partly because i don't trust those sites, in case of spam & viruses.
I can order things via other Amazon sites. What i was trying to say was that often i see things on those foreign versions of Amazon that i can't buy in the UK. I realise that might be due to copyright issues, but those need to be sorted out in this Internet age. If i see a book i'd like to buy, i should be able to buy it :)
@andymooseman I don't watch them on the torrents but if some kind soul has posted them on yt I do. I get you on the amazon stuff I neglected to mention there is that I can't get from the others. I normally only order movies and music from them so I don't have many problems.
I think you got it 100%-the only thing I can think to add is while corporations like to blame piracy for their problems the tend to forget they are competing for our time. Just making a blockbuster or a hit show is not enough anymore. If it's not what we want, when we want and how we want it it's easy to move on to something else.
If I have a CD I can load it directly onto iTunes, or if I have an album from iTunes I can burn a CD of it at any time...

@phekwig Fair point, but i'd much rather have a CD with all the artwork, track listing etc than a silver disc with scribbling all over it :)

@NotChristopherMast Indeed. I always rip my CDs at 192kbps, which is ok. But, it's still compressed.

@americannamor That's a good point & makes it all the more important for those corporations to make it easy for us to use their products :)
