Again, that explanation is only justified if the opponent can warp space or knows magic to warp space, which is uncommon. So, what, is the Gensokyo atmosphere so magical that it warps the fourth wall? That's the best semi-coherent explanation I can come up with, other than "Yukari did it". Actually, she might have.
It is techinically possible without warping power if the opponent is "closer" to the screen than the play. But yeah, basically it's all a pragmatic gameplay decision.

You see, in one of the endings Cirno tries to fight Aya, but she said she only fight her if she defeated a human first, sooo I was expecting a Phantasm stage after this, well, it's not like a rule that Phantasm must be a harder extra stage, it could be a different stage and boss, the game is pretty short anyway. And Aya as a Phantasm boss would be awesome.

Hate to break it to you (albeit late), but Final Spark is Marisa's Last Spell in Imperishable Night. It activates if you're playing as MAlice(youkai mode)/solo Marisa and bomb in the border of life and death.

The way I took it, and this is obviously just theory, is that either; A: One's power has an effect on the danmaku your opponent creates (i.e: a powerful person, like Reimu, will experience the pattern from, say, Marisa, at a reduced strength because her own power cancles part of Marisa'a pattern), so Cirno has to deal with the true patterns; or B: Next Comment.
B: Each person has learned to instinctively ignore bullets that can't hurt them because dodging things that won't hurt you might make you slam into bullets that can hurt you (I.E: Bullets that Cirno has to dodge that can hurt her won't hurt someone like Sakuya, who doesn't even bother acknowledging them anymore).
Well, that or C: Cirno is seeing more bullets than there are because she can't follow complex patterns... which means Cirno would need glasses. That's cute.

Anyway, I always liked this fight because Marisa's admitting, "Hey, Fairies can actually be fairly powerful," though, even with her pondering on whether it'd be close with normal lasers, I feel, well, imagine all those times you went inside a laser and didn't die? BOOM! Dead.
I do hope that this is the start of each character getting their own unique ability (that's not a bomb) in the next game.

IMO the perfect characters for an IN Phantasm would be the Watatsuki sisters, with Toyohime as the midboss and Yorohime as the actual Phantasm boss.
Or maybe a fight like Daiyousei's and Lily's from FW or the Prismriver sisters.
Or a fight like Mugetsu's and Gengetsu's.

Hate to break it to you (albeit late), but Final Spark is Marisa's Last Spell in Imperishable Night. It activates if you're playing as MAlice(youkai mode)/solo Marisa and bomb in the border of life and death.

I think this would be much harder with Master Sparks. I mean, take even a slight demotivation as a death. And they'd probably smash through Ice.

It would be nearly impossible with real sparks, since a lot of the spells require to freeze in order to be able to do it like a human.

@raak1010 i only just beat Bayakuren on normal, proves the skill that I have D:, me to, while i flew through the first 4 stages and got 5 extra lives through red UFOs, i got shot down to 3 on Shou and had 0 on Baya's final spell, and i ended up bomb-spamming it D:

The way I took it, and this is obviously just theory, is that either; A: One's power has an effect on the danmaku your opponent creates (i.e: a powerful person, like Reimu, will experience the pattern from, say, Marisa, at a reduced strength because her own power cancles part of Marisa'a pattern), so Cirno has to deal with the true patterns; or B: Next Comment.

B: Each person has learned to instinctively ignore bullets that can't hurt them because dodging things that won't hurt you might make you slam into bullets that can hurt you (I.E: Bullets that Cirno has to dodge that can hurt her won't hurt someone like Sakuya, who doesn't even bother acknowledging them anymore).
Well, that or C: Cirno is seeing more bullets than there are because she can't follow complex patterns... which means Cirno would need glasses. That's cute.

Anyway, I always liked this fight because Marisa's admitting, "Hey, Fairies can actually be fairly powerful," though, even with her pondering on whether it'd be close with normal lasers, I feel, well, imagine all those times you went inside a laser and didn't die? BOOM! Dead.
I do hope that this is the start of each character getting their own unique ability (that's not a bomb) in the next game.

Highly doubt it. Remember SA had that gimmick, but UFO went on without it.
As for BOOM! Dead: Not even Reimu could survive those (Fantasy Heaven not taken into account). Actually, yeah, Fantasy Heaven TAKEN into account. That would be the equivalent to Cirno's ice power for Reimu. Now I want a game with unique abilities.
