He doesnt do good live because we are used to the studio versions of their songs. In the studio you can retake, live you cant. Also sound engineers have programs to autotune and to increase a singer's range. Melodyne is a popular one, it makes bad singers sound good. look it up if you dont believe me.

SJ tends not to open up his lungs and throat enough on high and sustained notes. I used to do the same thing singing along when I was in high school. :D He forces things and gets too worked up in these 90s videos. Nowadays, he's much more relaxed and while he doesn't have a "great" voice, it comes across as much closer to what one hears on the albums. He doesn't blow out his larynx like he used to. His pitch is better and he stays in-key for the most part.:)
Not sure what the problem was here but when i seen them live at the Ritz in NC he sounded better then the actual CD so Yes he does sound good live, Not sure what happened here maybe he needed a break before he done then concert
the reason his voice sounds so weird on this one is that the mic is messing up. You can see in the beginning he's about to start, then he brings the mic to the side of the stage, then the band hesitates and starts kinda wrong. The volume of the vocals goes up and down for the first part of the song, too. At least I think that's what going on.
his voice is at best, okay... he can't sing for shit. he gets so energetic he loses his breath before he even starts singing. let alone he can't sing very well to begin with, he's range is that of a little kids.

They have been pretty solid live for the last few shows that I have seen. Video doesn't capture the vibe, you have to see them in person to make a judgement...
Maybe those of you who have nothing better to do than to be negative critics ought to post YOUR version of the song up here - so we can all have the exquisite pleasure of watching and listening to how much better YOU can do it.

I notice that when performing live Stephan doesn't do great on high notes, but on low ones he does perfect. 3EB rocks!
