  • What does it matter that he is wearing a Japanese uniform??? He's not Chinese... so he shouldn't be studying Chinese Boxing??? It's like "christians" who criticize halloween for being a demonic ritual but celebrate christmas and easter - BOTH of which are PAGAN holidays! This man is obviously a well trained practitioner.

  • scary...

  • @taijizhe its not.

    d

  • Master Nguyen or whatever ... Is a non-formal or respectful in doing things well as some if things are going to respect a country's respect her ... japoneces always okay we are jealous etc ... to talk more ...

"First RESPECT and you will be respected".

    "Primero RESPETA y seras Respetado".

  • @inrusi : I think I unsderstand your advice. I will try to look more like chineese than japaneese :-) Unfortunately, for Zhai Yao Yi Duan, I was dressed with the same clothes. I must be like Karl Marx : a "world citizen", with very little consideration for countries or nations ... Anyway we know that all japaneese martial arts come from China :-)

  • @nghoaivan2

I am just reading about Karl Marx on school - what a coincidence xD

  • por muchos motivos... puro invento esto... consolo ser Artes CHINAS y no japonesas.

la pregunta es: ¿Porque tiene esa vestimenta que es japoesa y no uniforme de Artes CHINAS?.

for many reasons ... this is pure invention ... Arts CHINESE be comforted and not Japanese.

the question is: Why has that dress is not uniform japoesa Chinese Arts?.

  • Master Nguyen, you perform the Loan triet is so good; however, in my opinion, you do not need to wear the uniform of karate when playing chinese kungfu (mantis), the uniform will make people confused that the form is Japanese martial art. Doing this give respect not only to the chinese martial art, but also to karate.

  • @FrancisTram : You are right. It's after a Karate training, and I am just too lazy to change the uniform :-) Anyway, japanese martial arts come from China ... Thanks for your comment.

  • Hey, I am Chinese and you are not permitted to wear the Japanese clothing.

  • @gt500cowboy : I must be like Karl Marx : a "world citizen", with very little consideration for countries or nations ... Anyway we know that all japaneese martial arts come from China :-) Have a nice week.

  • the footwork looks very much like shorinji form, and the hand movements look very powerful and grounded, impressive and not the tang lang i expected.

  • Is this the formal Chinese execution of the pattern, or is this more an Okinawan Shorin style?

  • Dear bateman : I learned Tang Lang with Huang Guan Jie, student of Master Tchang Bing Dou, leader of the Taichi Mei Hua Tang Lang school. I don't think karate experts would agree with this way of practice, because of the rythm. Except, may be, the Ryu Wei Ryu ones ?

  • May I ask some history on this form. Very interesting. Looks much like Shori-te in the delivery. Please allow me more information!

  • Dear batemanTKD : Mantis style is created by a disillusioned disciple of Shao Lin, considered as too concerned by symbolism and aesthetic . He reviewed Shaolin techniques with a practical point of view, for fighting, as he was a resistance fighter against the invader Manchou dynasty. I think the name "Mantis" is a humoristic reaction opposing an insect with all those tiger, dragon, etc... of classic martial arts

  • what's with the gi?

  • yeah???? that is a northren mantis form....kung fu... you have the basic movement but needs to be larger footwork is way off. speed is there.

  • Just watched a couple of your videos. Nice striking capability, good rooted stances. You can tell it's influenced by karate, but it's very solid karate--better strikes than most kung fu guys. Only problem is some movements are more for throws and sweeps, etc. and speed can kill them, and even roots can throw them off. But for what it is,--striking-- it's great. The bad comments on here are ridiculous. Good work.

  • Irgendwie schnelle Schlagbewegungen xD

Junge Tang Lang Quan schaut ziemlich geil aus^^

Aber erfordert auch wahrscheinlich eine Menge Training

  • Well umm...it's fast...

  • nice! speed is looking alright but the foot placement looks haggard..

and the karate gi confuses me!

nice mantis though i like watching mantis

  • warum hast du eine japanischenanzug an das ist doch kein karate und was für ein stiel soll das sein

  • Sorry I don't speak German (nobody is perfect). I guess it's the Karate "uniform" which could bother you. Well, this sequence was filmed after a karate training. I was too lazy to change for more approprate clothes :-)

  • Stiff and short movements, I didn't like it...

  • Thanks for comment, I try to give priority to speed. I hope it will be better with the next Tang Lang recording : Zhi Yao I Doan.

  • zhai yao yi duan摘要一段

  • Wonderful

I have just started mantis style

  • looks like seven star. is it? .. btw nice clip!

  • The style is Tai Chi Mei Hua Tang Lang, from Master Tchang Binh Du. Thanks for your comment.

  • This sequence was filmed after a karate training. I was too lazy to change for more approprate clothes :-)

  • why u dress like a fucking japanese

  • This sequence was filmed after a karate training. I was too lazy to change for more approprate clothes. Maybe I will record a Karate form with chineese clothes ?

  • we dont give a hoot what you wear, its the art that counts, not the "uniform" (which was originally just normal attire anyway)

  • doesn't matter what style you have... and don't try to prove on youtube.. but you should prove your talent in UFC cage.. that would mean alot :)

  • hm... maybe.

  • Yeah .. very quick with moving his hands around... but his legs are vulnerable to being kicked .. check out Buakaw por pramuk or Masato .. then tell me if i'm wrong

  • You are right. My postures are too high for the style. It had been rectified for the next Tang Lang video (zhai yao yi duan).

  • Folowing your suggestion, I just come back from a "full contact" training with Dominique Valera (world champion) with some bruises, but not too much :-)

  • Is your school "TaiChi MeiHua TangLang" ? A suggestion ? Maybe this one : relax. Martial arts is the art to be lazy ! Less effort possible. All the superior part of the body doesn't do any effort (maximum relax). Just impulsions coming from pelvis hips and legs ...

  • I guess my school is not TaiChi MeiHua TangLang. It's Shaolin Tai Chi Praying Mantis Kung Fu. Thanks for the suggestion though. I have been told to relax instead of tensing up. I just can't help it but I am working on it. Thanks for responding.

  • I just recently began a class in Tai Chi Praying Mantis under Master Lee Hoa Yen. I do recognize some of the basic stances in your form. I hope to be the best I can be at it. Any suggestions for a good practice routine?

  • Just a small FYI - TaiChi Mantis isn't TaiChi MeiHua Mantis. The split between the substyles happened in the mid-to-late 19th century.

  • Works for me. As long as I can learn something to help me better myself as a person physically and mentally, it's all good.

  • Gotdamnit, you are black belt, no suprise you are looking good in there!

  • hv u tried aikido? is it effective in a real situation.. i'm considering taking aikido.. but i've been asking around for opinions. any suggestion?

  • The Koichi Tohei's book "Aïkido in every day life" was a revelation to me when I was a child, introducing me to Qi theory, Tanden Consciousness and meditation. I practiced Aïkido only during 2 years. But what I learned continue to be useful for my training and for ... everyday life. In fact, many techniques in Tae Kwon Do, Karate and Tang Lang forms are arm locks just as in Aïkido. Good week end.

  • my tipp

i know that you are a Master in Some Styls but if u train so many and diferrent typs of material arts you wont be better

  • Practising many styles help to better understanding of each style in a synthetic view of martial arts. All styles come from an only source (Bodhidharma Shaolin's teaching ?)and converge on an only training : your own one. Being the best is not an objective for me, but for you, why not ? Have an excellent week end, dear Nassem.

  • nice clothes

  • Thanks. This sequence was filmed after a karate training. I was too lazy to change for more approprate clothes :-)
