he talks fast coz he thinks its smart or he just doesnt want us to dig his set up. slow down bugs bunny...munch munch...crunch crunch...zip zip.;meck meck
@Dobochoons I like it... it seems most people talk way too slow, other than Tom Cosm, I end up trying to jump ahead every tutorial. Skip the Fluff... Imagine him talking at a normal pace--yuck.
Nul points Nul Dude. Sounds like you forgot to unwarp your vocal track. I suggest you unwarp it or do it again, because I can't understand a word you're saying.
@thestoneface2 sorry, i took that giant row out. the set in the video is pretty old. it became too much trouble managing that track along with all the other duplicates after adding the scales and extended chords. nothing is stopping you from creating a new track in the set though. the color coordination should make it pretty easy.
This video is pure WTF. First of all: This guy atleast has 30.000.000 clips loaded in ableton. Not even motherfucker aphex twin woud have so many clips, if he loaded a new impulse for every fucking drum hit! Second Of All: This guy literally talks like a waterfall. It is raining outside, but hes talking faster as the water hits ma fucking window! Third of all: My internet connection is amazing, but at 13 sec's it had to load for the first in this year. Probably the connection was like: WTF!!!
hey nulldude, the work you put in is great and i will donate as soon as i can put the als files to use but i'm also having the problem of not being able to hear anything when i play any of the parts! i'm also not able to watch any of your videos as they video seems to jump straight to the end and the audio plays kinda stuttered
This is absolutely perfect, especially with me having only a basic understanding of music theory. I failed my intro to music theory class because I couldn't memorize the relationships. Or should I say, I memorized ways to discern the relationship, but I wasn't quick enough at recall for tests. It ended up that I never LEARNED anything because I was too busy trying to MEMORIZE. But this suits my knowledge of the relationships just perfectly. Thank you so much Tony!
Thanks man. I get it, didnt look for the simpler sitting right in front of me. :) I'll rescan my lib. Failing that I'll just put my own sound in there. Cheers.
Hey this is genious and extremely usefull. Thanks for this. Just one thing though. Im getting missing media files so that when I audition the chords from lives browser I dont here anything. I need the sine wav' or i can make my own. If i make my own where do i put them?
@thenanomanx something must be different about your library install. just open the session file and find the empty track with the single simpler instance (all other tracks will be routed to it). switch it out with whatever sound you want and save. i chose a simpler sine wav because it should have come with live but you can change that to anything you want.
@nulldude Hey. when i switch from seesion to arangment view some of the tracks are grey and will only take sounds from session view and wont play whats in arrangment. help?
lol woops, I was logged in under my gmail acct. This is ChippyDooDoo btw ;) I posted a vid response for you to check out. Think you might really dig Reaktor. I like how meticulous you are with your setup. later
@nulldude hehehe wow, if you only knew how much I relate to that comment. I am literally sitting here with a banjo on my lap, randomly checking msg's between random noodling. It's a natural flux between the organic and electronic mediums, and I'd like to believe it's a healthy balance. ;)
This would be great and all, but why would you completely ignore the diminished 7th? I don't mean to be a complainy pants, I know it's rarely used, but it is the gravity base of a maj scale. Just an fyi u can quantize pitch in addition to time using something like Reaktor to force midi notes to the nearest scale tone (check out my vids). Obviously this isn't intended to REPLACE prowess :D but a great way to bridge spontaneous mixes in a musical way. Hope this helps, thx for this vid.
@hooblah567 midi effect is real time and useful in different ways. having the chords printed as notes and readily drag-able into your session suits a different kind of workflow. the chord groupings are really whats on display but nothing is stopping you from making a clever rack to get the same effect.
Im confused on how to get the chords into the left hand column. Can someone please tell me how to get them there. thx looks like alot of fun =) Tonys the man!
download the zip from the info panel. unzip the file and move the session file to somewhere on your local hard drive. in your song's session, use ableton's built-in file browser to find the chord session file and expand the tracks.

@xlr81 its midi...go to the end of of the tracks where it says (instruments) then select a analog instrument from your presets and place it there.
now you should be able to hear each part under the instrument you picked.

isn't that what the midi effect "chord" is for?? haha, sorry to burst your bubble, but i think ableton may have beat you to this one
