hands down my favorite mercedes even by today's models (aside from the C36 which I have :) ). impressive driving and really amazed at how composed and quiet this car is! a true executive autobahn stormer.
they do provide excellent restraint from forces encountered during a collision and provide a more solid restraint to the seat when the car is undergoing shifting forces but...
the stock 3 point harness provides body movement in extreme accidents such as a roll-over where if the roof of the car were to cave in, the body has someplace to move to. with a 5 point without a roll cage=dead. this has happened many times before where people simply get the harness but dont invest in a proper roll cage.
Not bad at all, not bad at all. You can hear that open differential driving power to the 'empty' wheel, but you held it in there very tight and kept a very aggressive line. Good Job!
What were some other cars your times compared to on this run? If you still remember.

How about we all ask Mercedes-Benz to make this car again.? The exact same one. I would trade my w211 E500 in a heart bit.

Stock suspension?
Body roll doesn't seem as bad as people say...
zytekfan 3 years ago
What are you talking about? The 500E was one of the best handling cars of it`s class back in the days. Porsche did one hell of a job making this car.
BEEMERFAN79 3 years ago 2
that is true. porsche did the suspension.
Stilini03 3 years ago 3
is it easy at the limit,i havent driven one.i heard the car was handbuilt by porsche on a special assembly line.
chelseamanuliver 3 years ago 2
and yes, it was built by porsche. these will be gaining value and are already a collectors car. they are truely amazing.

Question: are 5 point harnesses a suitable airbag replacement?
DO they work as well/better/worse?

SO basically, if you go 5 point, you want to go with a rollcage. They work together.

as far as safety is concerned its like bread and butter

nieźle daje tą pięćsetą,ale bardziej widziałbym ją na torze wyścigowym niż w ciasnych zakrętach--to w końcu Mercedes w124 a nie jakiś plastik....
