I wouldn´t say the movie was wierd. It seemed to me like ( a very late) avant-garde or postmodern striving to express the idea of being secluded and lonely. Naturally, the technique of montage or collage which has been used throughout the movie in many places ( I think) alongside with quite intricate sound/visual effects make this movie a bit difficult to digest for those who are not used to watching such artistic works. A nuber of complex issues adressed. Overall, this is an outstanding piece.
So my question is did LOgan blow his new friend? I mean they both had the O face and Logan did go down in the frame. Also why was he spitting in the sink? HOT.
alright, clearly the version i just watched (which is about 10 minutes longer than this one) is a very different film than this one, since it was very straight forward and had a lot of dialogue
the version i just saw did not have the emily jane white song, but instead had a kid's choir singing "god only knows what i'd be without you". the one i saw was also 10 minutes longer than this one
Saw this the first time when I was 13 and spent the next 3 years trying to remember what it was called . Went through the same stuff . Looking back ...is emotional
I'm usually pretty open about films and what they are trying to say. However, in this film carrying "symbolism" too far and delving way too much into "arty-ness" leads to an incomprehensible plotless mess, that leaves the viewer thinking at the end: "WTF???"
my god this boy is soo hot. i was watchin that part when he wrote ''it didnt kill me'' all over his belly. it was so sensual jesus i wish i had this boy in my life
this movie is like so awesome...i love how it tells the story of a gay boy trying to figure out life and all that shit. i just wish his crush was crushin back. they should make a sequel. this was a really good movie.
I watched this with my straight guy friend and he was really disappointed that the kid didn't get to have sex with his crush. He was like "You made me watch this and I didn't even get to go Eww at the gay sex scene" but yeah the lady saying "there's a lion on campus please hide safely" scares the crap out of me
I have finally seen this movie thnks to you. The parts with the ticks and all i believe would be his inner tthoughts that haunt him that he had to come to terms with is what i got. As with all art this film is going to seen and understood differnalty by all. love it.
I think it's kind of funny they have an alarm just for when a lion is on campus, we don't have one of those... n_n In all I really liked this movie. Confusing, but good.
i feel like the mountain lions did nothing wrong. i only want to say that this movie really had no point what so ever. thank you for putting it on, but seriously, it made no sense. PEACE OUT
I'm sorry but, this movie does have a great story line, unfortunately it was poorly directed. This movie just made no sense, nothing came together, and it leaves more questions then answers.
The lion is like Logan. It is outcast, people are running to hide from it, they fear it and out of that fear they kill it. Just like the prejudice most homosexuals face, out of ignorance people fail to understand homosexuality and class it as wrong. The film is very visual in that it gives you series of images instead of flat out dialogue to understand. The ending of Logan holding on the the mesh looking in shows that even with these fake ideals of tolerance he is still an outside.
He, and his age, experience, and place in society is not an eternal constant. He will get over himself, his fears, conflicting desires, isolation as he changes and grows up. We all do. At least those who try.
Using puberty and teenage was a very good idea. Most of us tend to forget this part of our life in one way or the other, by altering our memories, thus becoming less sensitive when we see others experience similar difficulties. We can perpetuate either ignorance or empathy.
Kinda bummed I didn't figure it out myself but thanks! Everything's a lot clearer now; might have to watch it again. What did you think about the spider and the moon that serves as a transition in some part from one scene to the next?
@toothpastkisses such a good way to put it.....your statement is very well true......people hide from me all the time lol....im a lesbian so who cares
The Lion can be his biggest fear that he overcame (eg facing the older lonely boy or something like that) and IT DIDN'T KILL HIM.
I don't think that this movie is about the semantics though. I believe that this beautiful and somewhat poetic movie is all about kindness and tolerance Isn't that what one of the characters said towards the end of the movie?
Not really....then again I'm quite an indie film buff, so I guess I just understand that in a lot of movies like this (similar to Gus Van Sant's style, which no wonder, he executive produced this film)...you just have to kind of draw your own conclusions. These types of films are more about illiciting an emotional response from the audience, and everyone tends to react differently.
Its what we do with those emotions that really gives us something positive to walk away with.
@revolution698 i think the draw your own conclusions thing is kind of a cop out. the director definitely meant to get certain things across, he just failed in doing it well or in any way articulately enough such that we can understand it. you might as well call the table in your kitchen art if somehow you can take something away from it. the viewer ends up feeling more for the imagery than they do for the story--it doesn't leave you meaningfully pensive, just confused.
the reason why most of you guys completely missed the point of this movie is completely the director's fault, who also wrote the script. there was little to no narration and we as the audience were given no direction as to how to respond and react to the imagery and story. while the movie does have beautiful imagery, it abandons narration and engaging characters, i mean staring at a boy with his mouth half open the entire time doesnt really make me want to watch it.
This was a bad movie, but suddenly I think that this could be easily fixed with a remake with an alternated plot! Who thinks so? Give me a G-A-Y! Why because Logan's GAY... and so is Rodeo - the guy with a gay cowboy name!
artistic impression got in the way of this film. i think only the director understands it. this is what happens when you give a camera to someone and they think they are making a statement and they are the only ones who "get it". this is what happens when a student fresh out of film/art school gets a camera and completely loses themselves and confuses everyone else. this whole project was lost in the "artistic impression". let's all roll one and watch it again, then maybe we'll understand it.
I rather liked it besides that, it was like disjointed in a good way. Hes not living in the real world so he doesn't see it the same way everyone else does. I know I didnt.
Well if the woman's voice was how he THOUGHT he sounded, then how they heck did Rodeo think he was a girl? Rodeo had to know, that look on his face in the cave when Logan asked him.... Logan probably sound much like himself, or at least a little bit. Rodeo must have picked up on the familiar voice.

I think it's trying to show how difficult it is to be young and gay. It can screw people up. The lion signified the oppression and at the end there his desired for suicide, writing it on his chest like that made me think it could be nothing else.
wild tigers is a nice metaphor for teenage sexual ambivalence. It may sound stupid but does Rodeo really exist is it all in Logan's head. Although it is a gay coming at its heart i guess its a movie about coming to terms with what you are who you are. When his mother says to him after he has come out " Its up to you how long you want to hate it for." I had goodbumps as thats what half the struggle about coming out is about.
@boathesnake11 I think the end points to his acceptance of who he is and that he has come to terms with the fact that he can't have Rodeo - but that life will go on. Its perhaps a metaphor for gay kids accepting that when they have crushes on straight guys, it isn't going to work out. Its part of growing up gay and being able to see the world for what it really is ....
I don't really understand what was going on; Maybe either because there was no sound in video #2 or because I don't maybe think we are supposed to understand much of this lol
just some of the visual stuff is weird. like the tick walking across the screen and the lions...
i think he came to terms with who he is and realized no one's really going to understand him except the people that matter in the end... i guess - lol.
The whole movie is supposed to be like you're in Logan's head - i.e., see the world subjectively (not objectively like in most movie layout), like he does, as a dreamer. The 'wild tiger' is his sexuality...the unknown, the feared, the overpowering, the hidden. 2 be killed? This is why there's this feeling of anxiety/rush in his jack-off scenes, it's not pleasant, but is, at the same time. Sexuality/desire is scary, 'can't help even if you try to control', and exhilarating all at the same time.
That was a really good movie. Quite touching. But I'm sorry, and this may come from my over obsession with chick flicks, but what the hell kind of ending was that where he didn't even get the guy?!?!
