Yeah this is fun (as is keeping it as long as you possibly can without using it) but very few people didnt know about it. Whats fun is that, if you have a companion with an ability like Mirror or Hammer, it tends to destroy all the orbs before their sprites even appear on the screen, thus making the battle much harder as THEY can see the invisible boss, you cant, and they are now dead, and the boss is still invisible.

Funny I never actually knew about this but I've done it to both, I assumed it was for all bosses if you had the paint ability. So when I saw the blobs I just went, "what would happen if I sucked these up....." and voila. Red Heavy Lobster!

If you swallow a Mix, you can get anything from a random ability, a rare ability (Paint, Crash, Cook, Mike), Invincibility, or even get hurt from it!
