  • Nice tips man, thanks!! WIN intro))

  • OHHH that HOT....HAHAHAHAHA -_- nice

  • "Nippers" is an extremely technical term...

  • i have soldered my shit.

  • THIS VIDEO WAS FUCKING helpful

  • Thanks a fucking lot for this great tutorial

  • U feel cool knowing u can curse ?

  • @bosna916 yes

  • @wendy4mold Can The Chinese do it better or something?

  • ooh thats hot no way sherlock

  • nice fucking intro and shit like that

  • This video was very helpful. Thanks for getting straight to the point.

  • The intro made me LOL so hard that I got a boner.

  • chank you!

  • Well FUCK, good fucken video. help me alot.

  • Well Randy i'm well acquainted with the swear world and industrial language as i've worked in factories, aircraft industry etc. etc where many people used those terms on a minute by minute basis. If people want to use terms like that then it's up to them, i just don't feel it's appropriate for a soldering tutorial on the net. There are lots of offensive words in the English language IMO that doesn't make it right to use them at inappropriate times.

  • @Gary1497 Good for you, maybe Youtube should clean up their act a bit, I started to watch this video and was shocked for a moment and I have an open mind....

  • @MrTomb789, Hi, I echo your thoughts entirely, i'm the same, pretty open minded about most things but the point is i think that there's a time and a place for things and using language like that in an instructional tutorial, well i just see no need for it and it is out of place, what's it proving? Thanks mate.

  • What's the watts on the hot iron?

  • Good video, informative, but why even use language like that? what was the point? it's just stupid and there was no need for it. What were you thinking?

  • Comment removed

  • @Gary1497 The language he used was English. He used language like that because many people with Internet access speak English. It's really a pretty common language with many descriptive words and guess what? We are allowed to use them ALL! Pretty awesome, huh?

  • @randyfromm, Well if you say so. What has using language that many people find offensive got to do with a soldering tutorial? Also the fact that we have loads of words in the English language surely should mean we don't need to lower ourselves to this level? Your comment doesn't say much for you, frankly it's what i'd expect from an adolescent who's just discovered swear words.

  • Comment removed

  • This is "cappadelcappa's" art and he has every right to express himself as he wishes. Are you also offended when you see a nude painting or photograph? Do you sit down and write a letter to the artist saying "Good painting, but why don't you paint a house? Many people find paintings like yours offensive." Of course you don't. Clearly you're an intelligent fellow, Gary. I work with the English language as a professional editor. English is awesome. All words, all access.

    randyfromm 1 sec ago

  • It is also interesting that you feel my comment says little about me and is adolescent. An adolescent reply to you would have been "fuck you" or something like that. I presented a rational opinion to you in defense of the English language, one of many I speak and love. How do you figure that to be adolescent? Perhaps you have never been in the military service or worked in a shop full of manly men doing manly (non-adolescent) things. Intelligent, well-educated people use the word "fuck" as well.

  • You make it look easy. My irons must be fried.

  • Thanks man,..... we need more videos and more ideas. Keep it up.

  • Stop using fucking swears, because fucking ass handy assholes like you or me will be fucking watching these fucking ass videos. Very fucking informative and fucking straight to the point.

  • sir, i recommend you use less profanity in your videos. children may be watching.... and 34 sissies that can't handle such crudeness.

  • if you're offended by it you should get a grip and feel your way back to reality

    it's just not that important

  • Cool video but u use way to much fucking profanity!

  • Thanks for the help! Now to solder some ps3 motherboard components. lol

  • all the people talking shit probably cant solder for dear life good shit

  • " I can't watch the video cuz swearing is naughty and my mom said I can't swear"

  • Was going to watch it, then he used profanity so I think it's trash. Not watching this.

  • @MsLycanblood

    hahaha!

(sorry, i just had to laugh at you a little)

    anyway

    wish you well

  • @DerEchteBold Don't really care, I came online to learn this technique and happened upon a video that needs more finely tuned capabilities and lacks couth. This language is for a bar brawl, not an educational video.

  • @MsLycanblood well thats fucking stupid as shit

  • @Superabound2 Think what you want, I like informative videos, not something that uses trashy language as a form of communication. The video was mediocre compared to the other one I found nonetheless, you can keep your profane video, I will stick with the more intellectual ones.

  • @MsLycanblood Look, im not saying youre not entitled to your own goddamn opinion, but shit, most people would just not watch the motherfucking video, instead of acting like a cuntass shitstack and cocking around telling other motherfuckers what they goddamn think about some stupid ass shit. And im smart as a motherfucker, but there aint shit that says an intellectual cant like some fucking profanity every now and again. Jesus Christ.

  • thanks for posting... really helpful

  • Great stuff I just made a balls of my tubescreamer trying to mod it. One prob was i lifted one of the pads, wasn't sure if I could scratch away the board like you demoed. So Thanks.

  • Great fucking video and shit!

  • Real good vid, that braid stuff looks very useful.

  • Hey man. Ever assemble a Velleman kit? Ever solder an "IC" on a Velleman kit? Ever noticed how close the copper "bubbles" are on a IC circuit? How in the hell can I solder all the leads without solder from one "bubble" getting onto the the next "bubble" which is just a hair's width away?

  • @hwy163 Bubbles?

  • @hwy163 Might be a little late now (since it's been 3 weeks), but you can use flux, it will liquefy when you apply the soldering iron and it will separate the solder from the 2 solder pads on the board. Make sure your flux is either a grease like substance or a liquid flux. Make sure it's NOT corrosive.

  • i dont wanna tear my customers pedal up but..

  • +1 like just for the intro title wording "How to FUCKING solder & de-solder shit" ROFLMAO!!!!

  • Good video bro thx a bunches

  • very good video! ^_^

  • how do you know which parts you have to change when ur petal stops working? theres like 30 pieces on that motherboard!

  • Your title may turn off some viewers, especially if the they were academics. Fucking is better used to describe those at Washington bickering over debt limit on this day 25.07.11

  • Definitely wouldn't want this guy modifying my pedals. He did a garbage job on this Tubescreamer.

  • This is a great video. I'm in school to become an electronics engineer and I've build plc programs, have created my own circuits and simulations of Johnson timers and such things like that. worked on pneumatics, but, i didn't know how to solder. now thanks to this guy, he made it so much easier. Thanks. Look for my videos soon guys on programming PLCs.

  • great vid.

  • lol... That intro was perfect for my situation. I kept finding videos how to do this stuff to specific things and I felt... I just want to know how to fuckin solder and de-solder shit. I knew I came to the right place when I started this one.

  • Or you just get a solder sucker, faster, cheaper, better.

  • Not only is 25W to small, but the tip is way too big. The copper wick does work, but makes a mess. In smaller areas it could cause bridges on the circuit board. The best way is to use a desoldering iron with a vacuum bulb. It gets all old solder!

  • 4) the PCB shakes like hell after he removes the iron when soldering in the new part. The solder has to be absolutly still for a second or 2 to settle nicely....this is bad soldering. FIX the PCB or at least make sure it doesn't move like that when working on it...

  • 3) ....and this is my MOST ignored tip....ADD a little NEW solder if the solderings are very old before trying to get the old solder/part out !!!

The old solder doesn't have any flux in it anymore so it can take AGES before the old solder starts running. Adding a tiny bit of new solder will make it run almost instantly. Only THEN try to get out all of the solder using a hand pump or desoldering braid.

  • 2) He doesn't (and hasn't) pre-tinned his soldering tip. BEFORE starting to solder, put a little new tin on the tip, then wipe it off with a moist (not WHET) sponge. Even better is "flicking off" the excess tin, but that's only for the pro's

  • 1) Lousy soldering iron. 25W is simply not enough. It will force you to heat parts for very long which can lead to damage of tracks and parts. It works kinda OK here because it's only a tiny resistor, I wouldn't want to do bigger parts like HVT's with it..

  • Good video! Thanks

  • 3:27 Let's take your nippers.

  • now I know how to fucking desolder that crap

  • No shit its hot you just heated that piece idiot

  • nice intro

  • Could I solder a Battery Holder to a PCB Board using the same process in this video at 2:02?

  • I watched this so I could apply for a job on Monday, and tell them I knew how to solder. Oh, and it's not pronounced with an "L". That was fucking helpful!

  • 2:42 thats what a joint looks like lol

  • lol i gotta get some nippers i only have wire cutters... lol JUS PLAYING PEOPLE

  • Fucking informative and the shit was clear as fuck.

  • i had to mute this cause it kinda sounds illegal joint nippers etc...

  • what if I want to solder some rubber insulated coaxial cable?i tried heating the conductor but the rubber melts and it shorts the conductors

  • Nice tutorial my man. I just used what you taught me about how to solder and de-solder to repair a $1200 46" LCD HDTV with $30 in parts and tools and 2 and a half hours of my time. I humbly thank you for your instruction.

  • This was very fucking informative. Just what i fucking needed. thanks!

  • I gotta reheat my join *puff puff pass*

  • I love the fucking title man. Great tutorial on how to solder some fucking shit.

  • Fail eveyone knows how to desolder stuff

  • Cut the leads before soldering. The joint can get a fracture when you clip it off.

  • I would have never known you needed a WICK to remove the soder.... Thanks

  • i bet it didnt work after

  • thx dude, needed to know this stuff

  • Dude, the vid is really good but you must have gone to the same school as the dickhead from expert village - it's sOLder, not sarder!

  • whats better? Cut the the wires before or after soldering... many people tell me before ,but i think its more confortable when i cut it after soldering... ^^

  • Damn, Everyone is talking about joint theese days. Are you a drug dealer???

  • Or if you accidentally ripped a or fucked over a trace you can also hard wire it with a thin piece of wire. Whether it be a transistor, resistor or any other component that is a throught hole.

  • By thumbs up, how many guitars watched this so they could, idk, switch the pickups?

  • Thanks for the Video, very straight to the point, and educational...... Great Work. Please Post more Videos on "how to's"

  • Thanks for the example. Never seems to work as well for me as in your video, but it got me through resoldering some cold joints on my Kenwood deck.

  • "Ooo it's hot!" Just like me. Don't think some times. It's amazing how stupid I can get when just not thinking enough lol.

  • LOL'D SO HARD.

  • Man, you say this pedal belongs to a client? And you scrapped a bit of the solder mask off? :|

  • Guide? what guide? i don't use a guide when diagnosing faulty PCB's...

  • Wow ... oxidised

  • like others said...the title really shocked me!! but thanks for the interesting and helpful video & tips.

so the braid/wick is a better alternative to a solder sucker? now i know what a wick is used for! lol

    cheers!

  • Hell ya! Thanks for the post. Now I can fix my own shit.

  • That iron doesn't look very clean...

  • When it comes to desoldering, I prefer a desolder pump, that just sucks the solder right off.

  • @CoolDudeClem braid is better.....pumps dont SUCK ANYTHING.

  • @SlimeTron5000 Only if the pump is bad. I have a self heated pump that actually pulls all the solder clean and the part you want to de-solder just comes off.

  • @SlimeTron5000 I've used both, and I prefer the pump, it always worked well for me. The wick is fine, but it has it's own issues as well, especially for noobs burning the board. <_<

  • @Grayhatt It's okay, you don't need have to tell me you're a clone. ;-)

  • Wait a minute, that's strange, I didn't respond to you, I meant to respond to Cumesoftware. And clone?

  • @SlimeTron5000 Gaaah! Nevermind, I DID mean to respond to you, my vision is getting bad XD Still not sure what you meant though. Anyway, I like using the SUCKER :D

  • kind of is new

  • LMAO. the title of your video is full of win. hahaha

  • LOL Fuckin

  • But don't disturb the joint until it's COMPLETELY cool, or the Popular Mechanics guy from the 'How to Solder' video will come and tear you a new asshole!

  • Your soldering tip is extremely oxidised and you must use flux with your braid.

  • sweet dude thanks for the video, now im going to fuckin solder shit, im gunna solder my strings to my fret bord, im silly like that, just fuckin around lol

  • hey man im really interested in this as a career im 16 and want to know what tools to buy or the most important ones for diagnostics. like how did u know it was that capacitor?

  • ohhh he said fucking thats original he must be a try badass

  • Solid tutorial, thanks!

  • I totally love the title.

  • FCCN SOBITCH !!!!! I WAS TRYING TO DESOLDER WITHOUT ANY SOLDER REMOVER WICK OR VACUMM SODER.. U MADE IT LOOK SO EASY AND PRO. THNX

  • dude i have the same soldering gun as you and when I put my wic on top of the solder i hold it there for a good fucking 7 minutes and it never melts the solder... wtf is going on?

  • LOL i love your title screen

  • HOW TO FUCKING

  • its better to put solder on iron first.

  • i noticed you didn't pre-tin your soldering iron. Is it just because your pro, or is pretinning unnecessary?

  • I respectfully ask to please fix your opening title on the video! My 9 yr old and I were watching and I thought it would be safe to watch together w/out screening. I was wrong. I don't think it's appropriate to have the "F word" on the title screen of a soldering video! Now I have some explaining to do thanks to your carelessness.

  • Yep, I modded my TS-9 to the original TS-808 components. There are actually two different chips you can get...a JRC4558D or the rare TL4558P chip. The D chip sounds best to me. It fucking rocks!!! I put a socket in mine so I could easily change them to see which one I liked best and settled on the D chip.

  • use your guide? yeah if u don't understand how the circuit works...

    anyway u sholuldn't start desoldering...anything...

it's just an ideea, not judging no one.

  • foot pedal!~ you can use that to go "WAAAHHH WAAAAH WAHAHAHABOOM!!!!"

  • i lawled wen he burned himself...

  • interesting fucking shit n stuff on fucking soldering lol..

  • Ugh. Finally a vid that actually shows how to solder. I was just about to go mad if this turned out to be yet another vid of some idiot babbling on and on about everything but soldering!! Thanks for the clear, concise tutorial.

  • one of the best tutorials i've seen on YT. thank you for NOT putting horrible techno music in the background, and instead, actually talking on a tutorial.

  • DUDE!!! Thanks for the tut. I am very new to soldering/desoldering and this has helped me quite a bit. I am trying to desolder a chip from an xbox360 mobo....

  • i thought you had to cut it then solder it

  • Thanks man. I blew a capacitor on my DS-1 and i have surprisingly found the same capacitor in a Modem.

  • uh thats hot, he he he he ¡¡¡¡

  • And that's how you fucking desolder shit.

  • LOL. I LOVE THE AGGRESSIVE TITLE. SHIT. ROFL LMAO

  • great fucking tutorial

  • FUCK YEAH THANK YOU.

I NEED TO FUCKING DESOLDER SOME SHIT AND THIS SHIT HELPED ME.

(I searched "HOW TO FUCKING DESOLDER SHIT" in google ant this came up.

  • I accidentally used solder for integrated circuits on a switch, and now I can't get off enough solder to pull the broken switch off, I have dried a desoldering bulb, can someone help me?

  • thanks. now I know how to fucking desolder and fucking solder these fucking capacitors to this fucking Boss DS-1 pedal..and shit

  • thanks!

  • where's the fucking flux? that's not how you fucking solder you fucking moron.

  • @texican512 Suck my dick you don't need flux if you're not some fucking pussy baby motherfucker.

  • @MIKEORELSE then you don't know shit what flux does, he prolly used rosin core solder which has flux in it. ask any pro, they will tell you need to use flux or rosin core solder to solder. i hope you fuck up your iron solder tip cuz i did without flux 3 times as a newb like you dumbfuck. then i got it right and it gets easier when using flux. shut your dumbass up, do research first, talk shit later bitch.

  • Great tutorial! I was wondering if a 15 watt iron would work for this? Thanks!!

  • good

    thanks

  • can i buy the desoldering braid at home depot as well?

  • this is imature but, i busted up laughing when i read: "HOW TO FUCKING solder and de solder shit" ROMFFLMMFAO

  • and you forgot to say he didnt clean it so now there is corrosive flux residue inside the part that will reduce the life of the part

  • whats the best cleaner? just plain ole isopropyl alcohol?

  • you need to read the cleaning instructions on the solder itself it is different for all solders usually warm water or alcohol

  • your tip is very dirty..

    you didnt clean the joints..

you didnt apply a small dab of flux to prevent oxidation..

you cut the extra off before you solder to prevent cracking the weld apart when you trim it..

    ((rolls eyes))

  • Also, what temperature should I be soldering at?

  • Higher than the melting point of the solder. Usually 450 degrees and up.

  • Most soldering stations do have a celcius reading. In celcius, 330-375 is a good choice.

  • Yes, you notice there is a range here. It is best to play around a little bit. Start at 330 and slowly go up until the solder melts quickly but doesn't "boil" away. There are different formulations of solder that have different melting points. How cold the room is, and what elevation you live at can make a difference too. Also, you should lock down your parts in some sort of clamps. You don't want the parts scooting away from you. That's how your iron slips and burns you or your case.

  • OVER 9000

    what else??

  • So if the solder touches any green parts or if the iron touches the green parts then I should be fine right? Just not more than 1 second or something?

  • I have a similar question. I need to touch up a bad solder, and I'm wondering if if I should just try to remelt, or add more solder.

  • Yes, just don't hold the iron there or else it *may* melt the board depending on how hot it is.

  • Thanks for taking the time to post. I found it very helpful.

  • Great video. Exactly what I was looking for.

  • great vid thanks man awsome title

  • The title put me off at first but it turned out to be the best tutorial period. Great stuff man! Fucking thanks and shit

  • @weerpool14 I loved the title because by the time I found this video I was thinking the same thing. " How to fucking solder and unsolder " I was like "hell yeah"

  • Another tip i use when soldering is i snip off the excess wire from the parts 'legs' before because cutting after can cause micro cracks in the joint.

  • 5 stars. Any idea where i can find the desolder wire???

  • desoldering braid radioshack

  • HAHAHA. title was hilarious! and i have that same iron!

  • Where is good place to buy wick?

  • now if the wick dose not get all the solder out and leves some left to were its between the holes and the bourd how do you dail with that

  • use a new piece of wick, add some solder to the back of the wick whilst on top of the hole and it will suck it up...

  • @jerbar120 that happens to me a lot. I grab the part on the other side with needle nose pliers (left hand) and
