Asian cliched, pathetic excuses for horror movies with pale girls with long dark hair over their faces are utter crap!!!! I have NOTHING against Asia, but their moronic, badly acted horrors SUCK ASS!!!!! AMERICAN REMAKES RUUUULEEE!!!!!!!!!!
@666cl53 We hate american stereotypical movies... they put ton of blood and cries to scare. Japanese are just too subtle for you little american brain.
@666cl53 nub. you mean "they're moronic?" you love america so much yet you can't type for shit. go back to school toddler and learn something instead of talking down to movies you don't understand. anyway i bet you watched a bunch of trailers and decided to talk crap. go worship satan 666 loser. mind your business.
American horrors are scary only if there's needles amount of blood, the japanese just know how to scare ppl without showing the insides of a person...
About a year ago I started watching anime and Asian movies and i realized, that the scariest American horror movies, without all the needless blood, are remakes of Asian films.......
i have always been quite cool about horror movies. i watched this movie for the first time at an age of 13, but something about this film scared the fucking living crap out of me. today i'm 20 and i can't even watch the trailer cause im still so fucking scared of this movie!!
the factors why american movies fail at remaking j-horror films: 1. culture clash-the traditional and morose side of japanese culture adds gravity and believability including the deep folk mythology while the liberated, bohemian side of Am culture alienates d story. japnese has an angry ghost myth americans a good wd aliens, monsters, killers and all that, conected to science n urbanized society.
the americans killed this movie, the only time the remake scared me was when the phone rang when it went into credits, but the orginal really frightened me, the japanese seem to have a 6th sense in how to actually scare people same with the spanish they can also make awesome scary movies
The japanese just know how to create a very scary horror film, their imaginations are very warped. This version of the ring is in my very own top 5 most frightening films ever made.SCARY STUFF!
@03Itsofficial03 I've also seen Ju-On, its sequel and the tv-versions of it, even several times. I think they're very creepy too and actually I don't know why I've watched them so many times though they've even caused me nightmares... Maybe I just shouldn't watch them anymore? :/ The japanese Ring is good too but I think it's not so terribly scary.
is ringu the japanese version of the ring and also wots scarier the japanese version of the ring or the american remake heard the japaese r meant to be masters of horror
yeah its the original version of the Ring, in my opinion the japanese one is hella scarier. And yeah the Japanese are masters of Horror movies, I suggest Dark Water, Scent and Ju-on (Japanese origianl of the grudge) after seeing these i didnt take a bath or a shower for a while and i slept with the light on on my lounge without any sheets for like 2 weeks. But im a scardey cat highly suggest these movies since they dont rely on blood and gore to scare you.
My sister saw a trailer to an asian horror film that was to be shown on film four. She said it involved some dude being stalked by a guy in a hoodie with a creepy face which she said was so scary she ran out of the room lol. I've been trying to find out what movie she was on about but whilst i'm a huge horror fan i'm not really clued up with Asian Horror. If anybody knows the movie im talking about could they PM me? Thanks :)
i couldnt tell you by wots in the film cause i havnt seen much asian horror but the onyl asian horror iv heard about thats meant to be on film four is dumplings
I was watching this film by myself, and when it shows you the video tape, straight after it finised, my phone started ringing. I was so scared. And i never did pick up the phone.
thats because japanese horror is like psycological. american horror is just stuff popping out at you with a bunch of effects..a 2 year old can pop out at you, but it takes skill to make good psycological horror like the japanese do
In case you guys didnt know this was originally a book written by koji suzuki. you should read the book before you watch the movie because the book is amazing, way better than the movie.
japanese dude.... japanese .... but I totally agree with you dude.. Ju-On still hunts me on my sleepy nights though I have watched it over 6 years ago..
Um..I normally don't step in on this sort of thing but Zangha has nothing to do with Ring. Not to mention Hideo had nothing to do with it until the film. The novel written by Koji Suzuki came first and even then, the story deals more with the concept of nensha or burning psychic images and all that.
The only similarity is the phone call and the seven days time limit. That's it.
