  • when i was younger i played piano in a band and only later have i really got into synths. I understand totally that great music can be created from noise...but only by understanding how that noise is created and manipulated can you begin to understand the beauty and complexities and endless possibilities. Much more interesting than pressing some keys on a piano

  • in the arturia Arp2600 emulation software they fixed that Pulse width flaw and added another to oscillator 3

  • @kidamable That's awesome! Just like you could fix all of the "flaws" in the Mona Lisa with Photoshop. And the picture would be FREE! And you could print it out and hang it on your wall! And it'd be JUST LIKE having the MONA LISA! And you could tell your friends that you do, and that it's BETTER.

  • Ah, that's great because that's exactly what you want to hear and understand about the 2600 functionalities for somebody seriously interested into it. ... That really answered me questions as well as raising a real interest into it.

A quick question though, if using the ARP2600 with external Modular synth, do you use the Lag processor each time (too limit signal, avoid overchargin?) or directly using the jacks input in VCO, VCF...?

  • Great and usefull vids, thanks

  • @equinoxoz Hey, thanks! Thanks for watching!

  • @overnationmusic The point of my videos is to demonstrate functionality, first and foremost. I'm not making noise, I'm showing you what each module does. If you're looking for some idiot trying to play Frankenstein, you're looking in the wrong place. Lastly, synths are not for "making songs," synths are for whatever the user wants. When the ARP 2600 was created, it was NOT created to do "songs," it was meant as a tool for avant garde composers. Namely: NOISE.

  • @overnationmusic They are used often for strange lead voices (you'll want to throw them through a Lexicon) for trippy lead lines in dance music genres, or like Automatic said, Mortin Subotnick type stuff ..if you're into that.

  • @overnationmusic I'm pretty sure Buchla was against a keyboard interface when he started rolling out his synths. Same with EMS.

  • Well, you can heard a lot of those noises in every Erasure theme. Vince Clark use to fill up the gaps of his music with all those filters, just like that, loads of little noises. I am gonna look for a video response.

  • so how do you feel the va versions of this bad boy stack up to the real deal?

  • WAOU ! God bless you, you have put a smile back on my face. i been scratching my head to get a concise and clear overview of this cute monster. you came and shed the light. you are great and you know your stuff and you are so clear when explaining! THANKS SOOOOO much for your time

  • The plugin has VCO2 and VCO3 equal, so you can use sinus from 3 to modulate PW of 2, very nice indeed!

  • awesome thanks for all your work.

  • Nice vids :D

  • this is basically the jenna jameson of analog synths

  • I agree with sunrobot7, you really do know a lot about analog synths! Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and please keep making them :D

  • Thank you, and thanks for watching. I will make more!

  • how do i get one mesage me back so i know

  • Enter a search on eBay. That is your best bet.

  • @kanyenke12

I have two to trade for a 2500 ..fine I'll throw in a case of Scotch. Morely, are you listening LOL??

  • Marc, thanks so much for doing this.

I'm really grateful to be able to come here and learn so much about this incredible instrument.

Your videos are a joy to watch.

    Thanks again.

  • Wow, thank you very much!

  • My favorite part about the ARP 2600 (and maybe a over-simplification of it): the modulator is being modulated by what the modulator is modulating and then this is modulating an alternating amount of the two!!! @___@

  • Thanks, you made me dig out my 2600 :) I have the Model 3620 Keyboard which has a built in LFO with sine, triangle and square waves (and a delay setting which is great for string patches). I wonder if this model was introduced to address the dilemma with VCO2 you talked about?

  • Yes, it would be very convenient to have that extra LFO!

  • Wow! I like these sounds!

    Very good work marc!

  • Awesome... This synthesizer is just getting better and better... You're really really good with it, too. I think if I tried to figure that out, I'd be all "uhhhhhhhh??!" xP Great video, another 5/5! :D

  • ur not a freak but a geniuous...love u!

  • It's awesome to here you talking about these so passionately and in such depth; for me it's like a blind mind learning to see through Van Gogh's eyes.

  • Wow, thanks!

  • Great stuff with the oscillators, I will be watching more of this!
