enter your imei number, (FOUND ON BOX) and it will give you a code. turn phone on with incorrect sim card in it and then enter the code they gave you. it worked for me on my 3 san franciscos, my mates sf's, etc. so it definatly works:)

I'm getting one delivered today but I read somewhere that the newer stock is not as easy to unlock. I might have to do a 'flash rom" or some such that's a lot more complicated. Can I back up the phone up somehow before I start messing with it?

I'm uncertain as to whether the unlock code shown in this vid applies to all Orange San Fran' phones or if a customised code is needed to be generated? Is the unlock code provider mentioned reliable as I've read one has to be concerned about disclosing your IMEA code, otherwise your phone can be cloned and you could find yourself liable for hefty bill for calls someone else has racked-up.

@TheMediaMasters There free on any network but obz the internet on your phone will cost - Alot i was on it for like 2 days on and off and it costed £40. :L

@moogle301 it gives you a message telling you that you got it wrong. it gives you a total of 5 tries (if i can remember correctly) . I got it wrong 3 or 4 times, and got it correct on my final try.

It really IS that easy to unlock! The $3 company was quick and efficient BUT they didn't take VISA/Mastercard for the code, I had to pay with PayPal. No big deal, but worth mentioning.
