We should be proud of our athletes support them more and the the government should support more of the sport that we are weak to and less support on the sports like basketball and billiards and they should try to bring more athletes to the Olympics too.
guys instead of wasting time in self pitty do something about it .... I have 10 y/o daughter , Im training her to become extremely good precision rifle shooter I can see her potential . kung marami tayo na gagawa ng ganito magiging malaki ang chance natin . i train nyo mga anak nyo . kung ang phil govt walang naitulong satin nung kabataan natin lets do it now for our kids. we have at least 8-12 yrs to prepare thats a very long time. ang pangarap di naabot sa salita kung hindi sa gawa.
$220,000..pfftt..thats not true..last 1964 olympics in Japan..a Filipino athlete won a silver medal..close to gold but it was fabricated so the Soviet Union won..the boxer said that the government didn't gave any reward to him..so sad..
It is really sad our country will always be a 3rd world country knowing that corruption is rampant.the only chance is to leave start fresh somewhere else
Wow. 14 athletes? What is this? Gloria and her crew needs to stop taking the people's money away. The government should have put money and effort into it, not words. They are so stupid. If someone did win the gold, they would probably tell that person, "Whooops, we meant to give 220,000 pesos, not dollars. We are keeping the other money for ourselves. Our bad!!!"
Filipino people really expecting for medal, Hoping the with the medal in olympics will be a short relief. Kaso lalong nabunyag ang resulta ng katiwalaan sa gobyerno, how sad for the Filipino.
Corruption and the ethnic caste system keeps the Philippines down. Stop backstabbing your countryman because he's dark, or because he's from another province. Division weakens the country.
220,000 dollars to win a medal for the Philippines? wow! so now i know the incentive for American born athletes who could not make the usa squad want to participate for the Philippines.
How come billiard is not an olympic sport? I think the philippines have a better chance in winning a medal in billiard. Oh well, it does'nt really matter, almost everything in the Philippines is marred by dirty politics, and sports is no exception.
P90M isn't enough for: Coaches Equipment Medicals Proper Food Dieticians Testing Training Partners Training Centers and Shelter and Clothing when you have several athletes to tend to.
tama dpat kc bigyan nila ng pansin hindi nmn parati may OLYMPIC e tingnan mo kulelat yong pinas kahit BRONZE wala hay naku hinahanap q nga wala buti pa yong INDIA mayroon at yong Kazakhstan tau wala yong pinas pagdating dito tini take for grandted lang nila kaya ayan kahit isang medal wala kahit siguro metal nalang wala pa heheheh!
The government's support isn't enough. Being an athlete in the Philippines means being poor. It really takes a lot of patriotism to be an athlete in this country as well as sacrifice to continue training without enough money to feed his family, even himself.
I agree that government support should be there. However, athletes can also get funding from commercial interests like endorsements and such. An athlete should be popular first at home to get the attention of sponsors. The problem is this doesn't happen because the market there is not set up to support that. Yes, the popular ones (eg. Pacquiao) are an exception, but the sports environment there should also diversify.

If billiards were an Olympic sport, San Miguel would sponsor the team, and they'd bring home gold, both men and women. Alas!

wag mag-alala, 16 years of preparation pa para makuha ang gold bago mag-100 years ang pinas sa olympics since 1924!
Dapat ito ang "pangarap" natin to win the GOLD otherwise "nakakahiya na sa mga neighboring countries natin, hehehe.
