I think the reason why they omitted was because the last to years have been anniversary years for British composers.
Last year was the 50th Anniversary of Ralph Vaughan Williams death and they played his fantasia on the British Sea Songs. This year is the 250th Anniversary of Handel's death. And earlier in the concert they Played the Haydn Trumpet Concerto. (200th Anniversary of Haydn's death). Alison Balsom (soloist) classical brit award winner (Female Artist of the year)
