genre lines fall differently in everyone's mind, but I would definitely put this as some sort of jazz. The flexibility of the sound and note choice... etc... I think jazz is all about your mindset (that being a free, flexible one), and this is jazz to me.

It would take a pretty ignorant sod to call a bass a cello... I always thought contrabass was a nice name, personally. Though I always call it a bass (or big ol') fiddle when talking to at least one friend. Nothing more funny then hearing him sputter "Don't call it that"... :)

actually it's a string bass or double bass. Upright bass refers to the type of electric bass that is played upright with a double bass fingerboard but virtually no body.

I said Upright bass.. yo check wikipedia on this.. search for double bass and check the section called other names.. you'll find: String Bass, *Upright Bass, Standup Bass, Acoustic Bass, Contrabass, Contrabass Violin, Bass Violin, Bass Fiddle, Bull Fiddle, Contrabbasso. In any way its a great instrument!!

yea, this festival is annual in Germany and it starts on June and each city happens a different festival. Like Leipzig that offers Bach fetival. It already spent 28 years in the Bach!

lol im sorry but this is just the way improvisation could be. BTW i have this concert in full version and theres a lot of bobby as well as j.l. trio its just awesome and bobby understand classical themes very well trust me..

You can't determine your sense of time from that video. The improvisation seems to neglect idiomatic stylings of baroque music. And if you want to successfully imitate baroque improvisation then you should work harder. Of course, if you're just trying to have fun, then that's one thing. But I think that's what these critically acclaimed badasses are doing as well... having fun :)
