They say the next likely buildings to be imploded are Sahara's Tunis Tower, Bally's east tower, The imperial Palace, and the Tropicana. The only questions are- Which one will be sooner to be imploded, and when?
It is sad to see the old Las Vegas slowly die off. The biggest shock to me was seeing how the Fremont Street parts were changed. Big light show. Walking around where cars once drove. I seriously wonder how some of the entertianers like Jerry Jewis, Cher, Charro, and all would think of this 'New" Las Vegas?
Wait... I was there this week. I must have just missed this.
Ah, well. It makes me really sad they keep killing off all these old buildings. I guess Circus Circus, Riviera and Sahara will be on the chopping block in the next few years, if not sooner.
all it is sir or madam, is money talking now. money buys everything. money buys weathy more power to build larger buildings that attempt to take away the negative image that was brought upon that city. I lived there from 1975 to 1988. The city grew worse in the time frame. Now, buildings have to be torn down at night. In the next 10 years, las Vegas will not be recognized for anything anymore. Money talks, money walks, Money money money.
To think that back in March, I was in that hotel's parking lot watching the Stardust drop...how quickly things change up there.
Joel, thanks for (so far) the best video of this on the 'Tube, and for the information regarding the Stardust; without you, I wouldn't have made it up there for that one! :-) (and I'm going up this weekend..why couldn't they have waited on this for 2 more days!?!?!)
Four years later, and empty lot!

Too bad, I really enjoyed this place. 70's time capsule, it had a lot of charm in a way.

Was that the end of another era? Disguised as 'entertainment'?

It would be cool if they could at least retain the lobby and give it a facelift...then Add the rest of the new Hotel around it.

So the Forntier used the exact same type of trick they used to take down the Stardust. Nice. I guess...
I mean, they're blowing up the oldest hotel in the Strip for god's sake.
