So when we choose the HPSP the Navy has its own medical school? or we choose the medical school of our choice. After graduating we pay back the Navy by active duty every year they gave me the scholarship plus another year. So its 4 years +1. This applies to Army, Navy, and Air Force.
This was very informative. I agree with situationinterm... "Better" is a fantastic book about the healthcare profession. Both Atul Gawande and this young lady make it obvious that those who succeed in the healthcare profession are those who aspire to perform to the very best of their abilities in every situation. I highly recommend the book and wish this young lady the best of luck.
she looks like she's lying or something looking to the side all the time...hopefully there's a person over there or something or it just looks like she's nervous or lying. yeah definitely looking like she's looking away from the nterviewer...
What you see in her behavior is more a reflection on you than it is on her.... she appears a little camera shy and avoiding recognition of the camera. I'm a med student with on-camera and behind camera experience. It's completely normal.

Yes, because I like going through 4 years of college, 4 years of med school, and several years of residency so I can take orders from nurses that wear fancier jewelry on their uniforms (Do lawyers and judges in the JAG take orders from paralegals?). One of many reasons why the quality of docs in the military is declining and competent docs are fleeing the service after their contract is up. What's the average MCAT for HPSP recipients? Laughable.
You should never join the military. Maybe you wouldn't like how the guy with no medical degree, but 'fancier jewelry' than yourself is in charge of you as well. Douchebag.
Yeah, that would make for a pretty stupid medical system wouldn't it? Maybe that's part of the reason why military medicine is such a joke. "You should never join the military"- hope I won't have to, but if I barely pass my boards and can't find employment elsewhere, at least I have an option eh? Douchebag.

Typical bitter non-MD attitude. You'll learn in the military and VA system that your health care is garbage. I hope you quit the military and get a real job now, and stop wasting tax-payer money living out your GI Joe fantasies at the expense of an economy that can no longer support an unnecessary, large standing army as this nation has a large nuclear arsenal and no organized military in the world is insane enough to attack us anyway. Stop wasting my taxes and GET A REAL JOB
"I would never want to be a doctor, too many limp dicked men in it with egos the size of the moon". YET, when you're sick or injured, guess who you're going to go crying to.
First of all, you obviously have no real knowledge of the military or military medicine by your ignorant comments. The military medical system works exactly the same way as civilian, Doctors don't take orders from nurses, and even if they did there is a level of respect someone like you would never understand, rank is ralely pulled in a military setting. If you read Atul Gawanda's book "Better" you will get a true idea of what military medicine is all about. You sir, are the one who is Laughable
The Army has the same scholarship with more residencies and no duty time or delay between med school and residency

I'm not even in the military, I have a 'real' job. I would never want to be a doctor, too many limp dicked men in it with egos the size of the moon.

haha. amazing program!!! Amazing opportunities!! Signed on as enlisted first, but hopes to be the future HPSP candidate under the dental program!!!
Go Navy!! Thanks so much for this video! Even though it may be different from the dental, it still gives me a general idea of what it is.
