I'm not sure if you can still get to it, but the dredger in Portage lake, between Handcock and Lake Linden was a fun place to jump. You'd climb the ladder on the crane and jump off the platform at the top. Probably 10ft or so higher than the jump at canyon river falls. The last time is jumped from there was in '03 but I'm not sure if they have done any new fencing around there or removed the dredger.
I just responded to this video w/ a video that I recorded of me jumping in Arizona. I just moved there back in February and this cliff is easily 60 feet. Way better than the one down in Monroe.
Dude I'm from Thunder Bay Ontario. I was born on Lake Superior. And it has pollution problems. Sure it's beautiful but we abuse the shit out of that lake man. I used to work at a paper mill in T Bay and like a hundred other paper mills on the lake they dump their caustic affluent right in the lake man...it's shitty. You're right it is the cleanest of the great lakes but that doesn't say much. Check out the Remedial Action Plan and see what is really going on with our beautiful lakes.
ive decided to go cliff diving this summer. its been 8 years since i last swam. so umm...do i need swimming skills? can anyone point out a few specific locations in michigan for newbie cliff divers
lol yeah i heard it was cold, I live in Ohio and if you go to the southern portion there are alot of cliffs but not many are over lakes or rivers, but there are alot of cool waterfalls so that makes up for it
yeah there's definately alot more people in ohio than the u.p, in the u.p it's pretty rural so you can get away with it easy without getting caught. Most of the cliffs in ohio that are by rivers are in state parks, and they have alot of park rangers to watch, but last year i jumped a 49 foot cliff, it was pretty intense, luckily nobody else was around
If you're ever in Southeastern Michigan. There is an old rock quarry in Monroe. Take I-75 South to Exit 9. LaPlessance Rd. Make a right and as soon as you go over your 3rd set of railroad tracks the quarry is on your left hand side. I usually park on one of the streets on the other side of the main road and walk just in case cops show up. It's easier to run.
R.I.P. 17-year-old Tiffany Pohlson, 18-year-old Anthony D. Spigarelli and 19-year-old Bryan Mort. They were Murdered by a sniper at the East Kingsford Train Bridge that is shown on this video.

Outstanding! I expect to see everyone of you standing tall in a Navy uniform in the not too distant future. The Navy will pay for your jump fest and send you all over the world to do it. BTW, I jumped many of these spots in 1973 - 1978.
we are most likely not going back there this summer, we have more places to explore. In the future we will definantley go back though. do you live in mich?
yeah that rope helped to get up that side. marquette is awesome. look on the related videos on this page called dead river 60 footer. we didnt do it but it looks awesome. you been to kingsford?
yo and the one at the dead river why didnt you go off the HUGE one i think they call deathwish it was to the left but you have to pass the little rock on the bottom or your pretty much gone
I've jumped off most of these, except Kingsford. Unfortunately, as a journalist, I've also reported on the numerous injuries, paralizing falls and deaths which have also occured at these places, in particular, the very deadly Canyon Falls - Sturgeon River Gorge.
I've jumped them, not trying to say you can't, just want you to know there is a risk of death. That's all. And yes, people have died at Black Rocks in Marquette.
