Even while I was in the military, doing some shopping when I got off of work, since I was still in uniform people would thank me and come up to me and shake my hand...not having a clue what I really did..I really didn't enjoy it at all. I mean I really could use the military-card to get more given everyone's zombie-like worship, but I have integrity.

Yes, he was a POW, but when he came home, he dumped his wife, who waited faithfully for him, and married a rich bimbo. Also, it seems to me that being a POW might affect the balance of his mind somewhat and his judgement on certain issues. I don't think that being a POW is a good qualification for being President. I have respect for all men/women who serve in the armed forces. My Husband & Son are both US Navy as was my son's grandfather. I have worked with many POWs suffering from PTSD so I think I'm a good one to point out that John McCain's time as a POW has *always* been under scrutiny because he has been accused of committing treason by many of his fellow POWs. Google "Songbird McCain". He gave up a lot more than Name, Rank & Serial Number. My vote too is not so much for Obama as against McCain.

I work with a 59 year Vietnam vet. He was a tunnel rat in and around Tay Nihn and Cu Chi. He had to be the point man and he was sent out into the field, ambushed and trapped for three weeks on one week supply. He lost a lot of friends there. He sees a shrink to this day for it. No matter what he could ever say, it'll never be "overplayed". McCain was POW 5 and a 1/5 years and beaten to permanent damage. He too, will never be able to "overplay" that one.............

I'm also a veteran. This bullshit zeitgeist of military worship in this country is really out of control. Even while I was in the military, doing some shopping when I got off of work, since I was still in uniform people would thank me and come up to me and shake my hand...not having a clue what I really did..I really didn't enjoy it at all. I mean I really could use the military-card to get more given everyone's zombie-like worship, but I have integrity.

Yes, he was a POW, but when he came home, he dumped his wife, who waited faithfully for him, and married a rich bimbo. Also, it seems to me that being a POW might affect the balance of his mind somewhat and his judgement on certain issues. I don't think that being a POW is a good qualification for being President. Also, he is very out of touch with ordinary Americans and their concerns.

What i remember of Obama, was when he made that speach at the DNC four years ago. I thought it was frightening how captivated the audience was how they cheered for him. I remember thinking how he was going to be a powerhouse for the dem's.

As for VP, I think Biden is a horrible choice. I think the only reason he was picked was b/c edwards destoyed himself, and hillary refused to take the spot. I would have rather seen Leiberman for either person. My first choice for prez was thompson/romney.

I have respect for all men/women who serve in the armed forces. My Husband & Son are both US Navy as was my son's grandfather. I have worked with many POWs suffering from PTSD so I think I'm a good one to point out that John McCain's time as a POW has *always* been under scrutiny because he has been accused of committing treason by many of his fellow POWs. Google "Songbird McCain". He gave up a lot more than Name, Rank & Serial Number. My vote too is not so much for Obama as against McCain.

I respect and admire John McCain's service to our country and fortitude as a POW. With that said, I don't think being a POW frees one from their personal responsibilities, judgement, or decisions once they have successfully integrated back into civilized society.
This is not a slam on McCain; I would say the same thing about a Democrat or Independent if they were using their POW status as a political crutch too.

John McCain's 5 years of imprisonment as a prisoner of war inside the "Hanoi Hilton" by the North Vietnamese, that's why his brain is so fucked, as he thinks about is WAR, WAR, WAR and more war.
John McCain, being a victim of horrible abuse deserves medication, psychological counselling and treatment in a nursing home.
Being a former prisoner of war doesn't give him automatic credibility, nor does he have the mental capacity to act as president of the United States.

I work with a 59 year Vietnam vet. He was a tunnel rat in and around Tay Nihn and Cu Chi. He had to be the point man and he was sent out into the field, ambushed and trapped for three weeks on one week supply. He lost a lot of friends there. He sees a shrink to this day for it. No matter what he could ever say, it'll never be "overplayed". McCain was POW 5 and a 1/5 years and beaten to permanent damage. He too, will never be able to "overplay" that one.............

i would like to defend mccain's service as a p.o.w. right here. he was defending government property when he punked-out immediately upon capture and sang like a canary. in fact his code name at the time was "song bird". sure mccain did over 30 videos and numerous hanoi jane style radio broadcasts for the enemy as he ratted out his buddies to cover his own ass. but is it really a bad thing that he was able to give aid and comfort to the son of an admiral?
