@frilloz4 Yes, the reason being that if the opponent reaches such a weak serve, then they will in all probability win the point. You could in theory always serve like that, but you'd get smashed off the court every time. THAT is why players don't practice that serve, as a fast serve is more efficient. So don't say that it's cheap, it's just different.

An under-arm serve is legal and is also sometimes useful as it catches your opponent out giving you an easy point.

As long as you dont foot fault and hit the ball once you can do anything from a back-hand serve (never tried it) to a drop-shot serve

yea u can do that, i do it sometimes but i put a lot of sidespin on it so its tricky to return.

u have to hit it out of the air though, you cant bounce it then hit it.

that's not cheap at all. Underhand serve has been around since god knows when. Just because it isn't popular doesn't mean it's cheap. Some think that aiming at the legs are cheap but others think its just precision.
