  • do any people go out to big dinners like this anymore?

  • They are really wonderful! Thank U very much for such nice peace!

  • extaordinair quelle voix

  • just like yesterday i watched this movie with my wee mum....SUPERB...

  • Dad, stop using my YouTube account. Everytime I get on here I find that someone signed me out. Then I look in the history and I find old people stuff.

  • Nice of Mario to let Kathryn lead, he could have easily drowned her out which would have ruined the duet.

  • i just love mario lanza. so handsome and full of life. my mom feels the same..........

  • Fabulous!!!!

  • Two people need hearing aids.

  • No other voice like his... Mario was a real heartthrob.

  • Very gentlemanly at the end, letting her have the high note.

So sad Mr. Lanza didn't live long enough to realize his true potential.

  • Through my business I had the plaeasure of metting many of my MGM heart throbs...Miss Grayson, June Allyson, Ann Miller, Nanette Fabray and Cyd Charisse..even Miss Ruby Keeler ( a non-MGM star) but a great lady of early film dance. They were the best,

  • @tallpaul521 *Sigh* may I be jealous and show respect to you simultaneously! The era of true talent and true stars! Thanks to my parents, I know about these legends.

  • Really impessive singing!

  • Wow beautiful singing beautiful rich tones oldies are best!

  • Sper a great song from a great film

    thanks Judie for sharing

  • Semplicemente Amabile...una grande voce...un piacere da cantare questa canzone...... :-)

  • Here waist was teeny tiny!!!

  • How could someone 'dislike' this video. Oy, people are unbelievable. This is so awesome! I think I like this version better than the first version in the film. I can't decide. They just rock!

  • Her waist was tiny because there were no MacDonalds around.

  • Haha I love this scene! Thank you for sharing! Mario and Kathryn are awesome! LOVE THEM!

  • It's harder to sing sitting down, but Lanza's talent was so huge he could pull it off.

  • love it rip kathryn xx

  • Rest in Peace Ms. Grayson. Say Hi to Frank, Dean, Sammy, Mario, Bing, Perry, Gene, Fred, and all the other greats.

  • So sorry to hear of Miss Grayson's passing. She was always one of my favorite stars in the MGM constellation. I had the pleasure of meeting her back in the 1980's..I have a treasured photo of her with me, next to Miss Ruby Keeler.

  • Rest in Peace, Kathryn Grayson.

  • She was like an angel. Very beautiful, talented lady.

We will feel the loss, but the Heavenly choir will have a new soprano.

  • An angel just left us. Thanks Kathryn for gracing us with your presence. Nobody in combination with your voice and stunning beauty could have been better. Hope to see you in heaven. It will be heaven if I do.

  • Wonderful.

  • RIP, Miss Grayson.

  • Their first performance of this great song was the very first time I'd ever heard such singing. I vowed, right then and there, that I'd learn to sing like that, and, now, I finally have, all thanks to the inspiration I received from Miss Grayson and Mr. lanza's performance in "That's Entertainment".:)

    God bless them both!

  • Thanks Stephan. She was so beautiful in "Anchors Aweigh". A true legend!

  • You can really sing like Miss Grayson and Mr. Lanza? I'd love to hear that. Please post a clip for all of us to enjoy.

  • LOL

Not quite.:) I'm a pop/soul singer, but, I did undergo classical voice training to learn how to project & protect my voice.

That said, though, I just may take you up on your request. It's not a bad idea.

    Take care.:)

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1

I know that Miss Grayson, in her later years, was a vocal coach. I thought you might have been a student. She was wonderful.

  • @tallpaul521 I should only have been so fortunate to have been her student.:)

  • It's kind of sad that Miss Grayson is only remembered for her duets with Lanza. Don't get me wrong, I love them both. Lanza was destroyed by Hollywood. I remember Miss Grayson in "Kiss Me Kate"..her best acting and comedic role.

  • @tallpaul521

Agreed, but, since her passing, many clips from her solo work in films are being posted, so, perhaps, at long last, it'll receive the recognition it's due.:)

  • @tallpaul521 Ah yes, I love that movie. It really was one of the best. I heard it was even an early 3D movie. I wish they would pick it up, clean it up a bit and maybe figure out a way to put it in the cinemas now. Just think about hearing all that singing with today's sound system.

  • @tallpaul521 you need to watch her in Desert Song.. Unbelievable singing.. Incredible.. She was a star in her own right.. with a fabulous voice.

  • @kgarmaker123 Desert Song! OMG I haven't seen that in years. Wonder if I can get it on DVD these days!

  • @tallpaul521 unfortunately, back, then, the music snobs were powerful enough to discredit talented artists like grayson and lanza and make it stick. the proof is that, to this day, they are still put down by people who have never really listened to them sing. so, what do we have today? we worship the likes of andrea bocelli because he sings both popular music and opera. however, i find his voice to be unimpressive. just my opinion.

  • @jgraif You're so right. But, thank God that MGM saw their talent and brought them together for the screen.

  • @jgraif I agree with you about Bocelli! And about the discounting of great talent by the Met snobs in the day. They rejected Mario Lanza and Sergio Franchi.. still two of my favorite tenors.

  • @jgraif I have to agree--Bocelli has a thin, winy voice--he can get some high notes but only after struggling. Never could see what all the fuss was all about. His voice is like Pavarotti's after coming out of the dryer--shrunken.

  • @tallpaul521 check out jackie evanko

  • Mario and Kathryn couldn't stand each other, which makes their performance all the more impressive. Mario would eat cloves of garlic before kissing scenes with Kathryn just to upset her.

  • I suspect your source is incorrect. I lived in Santa Monica, Cal. for 30 years, and I knew Kathryn. I spoke with her at length many times. She often talked of her time singing with Mario Lanza and she voiced admiration for him, and certainly admired his voice. She absolutely never mentioned any animosity.

  • @SunsetSix thank you for posting this. i had the great pleasure of accompanying licia albanese back in the 1980's. i asked her about lanza. she immediately became "dreamy" and told me that he was without equal. enough said.

  • @msch1981; Mark Twain said a lie has a thousand lives...this is proof. This was an untrue tabloid lie written 60 years ago that's still being repeated. In the documentary, Lanza: the American Caruso, Grayson is interviewed extensively. Her comments " Mario was a wonderful man with an outstanding tenor voice who was a delight to work with". Just like Sgt Friday, "just the facts, sir". It's easy I wish people would check before posting here.

  • Kathryn Grayson was a class act both on and off the stage. Guarantee you that statement is not true.

  • In response to msch1981...the rumor has it that it was Doretta Morrow, Marios co-star in "Because You're Mine" was the person who "tasted" one of Marios pranks.

  • My apologies. I downloaded the movie and actually skipped part 4 in which Mario and Katherine sing it. Thanks to your upload I noticed it and may of otherwise missed an entire and enjoyable episode.

  • Did they actually sing this version in The Toast of New Orleans. I know they sang another version early in the movie. Mario has always been my favourite singer. I was at school when he started and was the odd man out liking Mario when everyone else liked Elvis, the Beetles and that crowd.

  • der beste sänger mario lanza !!!

  • Oh, I just watched this clip again...and I gotta add...Kat's lips are INCREDIBLE...This woman is beauty personified! I am in love!

  • Kathyrn - such devastating beauty, with an equally devastating voice.. Those awesome cat eyes...Wow - I am in love! And Mario, what else needs to be said -- I truly believe Mario was BETTER than Caruso. Such a shame he died so young. The combo of this two is spectacularly divine.. gotta find this movie...

  • I agree...it's so sad that Mario Lanza died so young... at 38, I think...I like the character he portrayed here...he sings great, too.

  • Whew.

    Okay, I'm exhausted.

  • Katherine Grayson - What A Voice!

  • madison. I cannot understand why you have said this. From your favorites list, you seem to be a man who appreciates great singers. For me, Mario is none of the things you say. He is a man with a great voice, charisma, very goods looks, and most of all, a nice guy.

  • How could you say that??? swanningaround is right... Mario Lanza is a great singer! It's a pity he died so early... just when he was starting to be famous...

  • Tremendous

  • Wow! Great singing. Deanna Durbin, Sissel, Julie Andrews, and Katheryn are the best! Mario was up there with the greats too like Jussi and Enrico.

  • This is not reality, in order to sing amazing like they did, you need to be warmed up before you sing. otherwise you'll hurt your voice and possibly get nodes [like blisters] on your vocal chords, which could also possibly turn into cancer. But Kathryn and that other guy were fabulous as always :D

  • Vocal nodules yes, but turn into CANCER? Never heard of that.

  • EXTRAORDINARIO! AMAZING! AWESOME! THIS IS THE CALIFICATION FOR THESE TWO GREAT SINGERS... THANKS ddurbinfan....
